First Ice & Minnow Trapping (Clear Lake, Iowa)

As they say with first ice, it was just good to be out. But we did get some action, a walleye, and a lot of knowledge about minnow trapping and keeping minnows alive in a tank in the basement. Just a little trip to Clear Lake, Iowa.

It always seems like you beat me to the ice every year. I’m glad I’m not super competitive when it comes to that sort of thing. Ha, ha. Ice fishing is one thing, but finding a solid day where a person can catch more than one walleye in a single outing is another. It’s so much easier in a boat. That was a fun little video. The traps and minnow tanks was a serious highlight. Tell Jenn thanks for sharing that.

Clearly, I’m not very competitive either! I would love to someday be able to catch half as many walleyes on the ice as I do in a boat.

@@BloemendaalFishing Definitely! This will be my third ice season since buying a place on Mille Lacs. Easy walk out access from my place allows for me to get on the ice about a dozen times a year. Now I just need to learn the ins and outs of the west side of the lake. Slowly but surely it will come together.
