Many years ago I worked at a case dealership, I could take wheels off,remove battery, disconnect all linkage, split skidsteer in half, and remove the tandem pump and have it on table in 45,minute's.

Good job. I'm replacing one now. That armor shield is a good idea. I might have considered taking the track off instead with the help of the front-end loader. Would that have been easier or not?
Thank you. I think this way is the easiest way to do it imho. It takes longer to jack it up than it does to get it slid out. And even with the track off you still don’t have a lot of room between the final drive and frame to work. So, for me..I prefer it this way and will do it again this same way when it happens again. My buddy I worked with at Thompson Caterpillar is the one who put me onto it. So I’d say that it’s probably the easiest way since they do it everyday. I was thankful he shared with me for sure. Made it plum easy. Anyway, hope this helps you my friend! Take care and do come again, please

From all the mechanics I follow, like Watch Wes Work and Diesel Creek, it seems there are four main killers of machinery: rodents, rust, wear and tear, and sloppy mechanic work. I've lost track of how many machines I've seen that were taken down by dumb stuff, like lack of service, hack wiring, and putting things back together wrong, Many times, I figure you are better off to do it yourself if you are able. You care about that machine more than the folks at the dealership, who will make more money if they can sell you a new one. You are the one paying for it. You are the one depending on it. It is going to matter to you more that it is done right, and it shows in the fact that you are putting the armor covering back on those lines, because you are the one losing the down time and you are the one wrenching on the machine next time.
Yes ma’am!!! You hit the nail square on the head for sure. I run a lot of old equipment. Mainly because I can work on it. All my saws are old, but just as good as any new one if not better. Because I’ve tweaked them all. I enjoy mechanicing to a point. I’ve been raised in it. And in this business, you’ve got to be handy with wrenches no doubt. So stuff such as this, doesn’t bother me no sir. And you about have to be handy with a wrench if you wanna stay in business. Because break downs are just part of a logging operation. Sadly.
