    Better explanation of the cassette than some of the others I've watched. Thanks.

    Thetford cassette toilets are awesome. We have one in our pop up. It was a huge game changer for my wife.

    Excellent review hun! The only thing that would make this toilet better is if they had a bag inside that could simply be taken out, but overall it looks pretty efficient. Thanks for sharing, 💕💕💕💕💕

      Thanks so much Safirlady! It’s pretty simple to clean, but yeah having a disposable bag would definitely be a great idea. Thanks again and have a great day, Jason.

      @@CarolinaCampervan You can buy disposable bags and also gel pads that will absorb liquids on amazon. They are not very expensive. Look under items for bedside toilets. In the item description it says it is for camping toilets too. I never get my bottom tank dirty. I just put the bag and pad in my toilet and empty the sealed bag in the dumpster every day. Not much smell, no major cleaning. Also, I just do number one in there, not number two. It's like putting a baby diaper in the dumpster. The gel pad is the same as what is used in diapers. No sloshy liquids.

    Some users are already starting to cause a bad reputation for cassette toilets at parks, businesses, and campgrounds. Expect many new restrictions to be be placed on their use in the next few years as they become more popular with RV manufacturers (it is cheaper/easier for them to install). According to a Google search I just did, RVs with cassette toilets are already banned in a couple of parks due to a few bad actors ruining it for everyone. Imagine pulling up to the entrance to a park with your RV and being turned away for having a cassette toilet.

    2:30 - No nitrile gloves when dispensing the cassette?
    Nice overview btw. I'm looking at the 59PX model.

      Dude, I’ve been with my wife for 22 years, what ever she has I have! Just kidding, I knew it was just water. Good call though, we definitely use gloves when we empty it at a dump station. You’ll love the van! We’re in Colorado currently traveling around and it’s amazing! Thanks again, Jason!

      @@CarolinaCampervan Awesome. I may be pelting you with more questions. Like how comfortable is that mattress in the 59P, and would someone like 6 foot 3 find it comfy. Thanks for the quick reply, you got a great YT series goin on the Solis!

      @@ChristopherDillman hey mr. dillman, I’m 6’0 and I the bottom queen fits me perfectly! The pop top would definitely accommodate you you with room to spare! The queen Murphy bed in the cab, you may have to sleep at a slight angle, but nothing to severe. My brother is 6’3” and I would recommend to him. Thanks again, Jason!

      As pointed out by Christopher D., without careful handling, they are a potential sanitary nightmare for everyone else using the same bathroom where the cassette has been dumped down a toilet. How many cassette users do you think will sanitize the toilet stall area and anything else they may have touched when they are done emptying it? How many campgrounds and businesses would be okay with emptying a cassette in a toilet if they were asked for permission to do so? I suspect the answer is zero to both questions.

    Thanks for doing this video. I’m seriously considering this RV because of the cassette toilet. but worry about being of grid and not being able to run the generator all night for AC. I haven’t really boon docked before but want to as campgrounds are a often nightmare. What are your thoughts on this and how you like the RV as a whole?

    • @CarolinaCampervan
      @CarolinaCampervan  3 роки тому +2

      Hey Deborah, thanks for the question and subscribing! I truly love the van. It has exceeded my expectations! For the price point, it has everything I need. I have the 59p which doesn’t have a generator or A/C. It does have a max air fan that circulates the hot air out of the van. The 59p is equipped with 2 105 watt Agm batteries that will charge with the 220 watt solar panel included or by the alternator as you drive. I have yet to run out of power on my travels. If you are looking for a van with A/C and a generator consider the 59px. It does cost a bit more and it’s 18” longer in length. As far as the toilet goes, it’s so easy to dump and so convenient to have on board. I hope this helps and let me know if you have any more questions. Take care, Jason!

    I am looking at one of these vans. How do you like the quality of it? Any regrets?

      Thanks for the comment! I absolutely love my van and would buy it again in a heartbeat! That being said, some of the finishes aren’t on the high end side, but that’s what makes it affordable. It’s a mass produced van so there are some slight imperfections compared to a super high end custom model. But, we absolutely love it and it has allowed us to see some really cool sights and hang out with the family! Check out the Winnebago solis owners and wannabes Facebook page. There is a ton of info from current owners and folks that have done a lot of research. Thanks again!

      Hi Shawn, Thanks for your comment. We have not had any issues with the toilet leaking. It does get wet when we shower, but we dry it up with a towel afterwards and it does not cause any issues.

    Hi, thanks! This is what my van came with. Any preference on chemical? I have some organic tabs, are these ok? Also when initially filling that bit of water for the chemical to dissolve in, do you use the onboard water or fill manually? They recommend 3 liters? Thanks.

    • @CarolinaCampervan

      Good afternoon! I use Starbrite Insta Fresh or Eco Smart by Thetford. They are both in a liquid format. A little goes a long ways in the 5 gallon cassette. I usually just add 1/2 an ounce and a tad of water after I get done cleaning the tank. Just add enough water so that as you're driving around the chemical and water can mix up a bit. It doesn't matter where your water source comes from when added to the cassette. I hope this helps and thanks for watching & commenting. Have a great day! 😃

    How many campgrounds and businesses would be okay with emptying a cassette in a toilet if they were asked for permission to do so? I suspect the answer is virtually zero. I know they are not to be emptied in vault toilets on federal land for instance, even though it happens all the time. Cassette users are technically always required to use a dump station like everyone else.

    My impression is that these are not great for solid waste. Is that your experience?

    • @CarolinaCampervan
      @CarolinaCampervan  2 роки тому

      It works fine for # 2 :) You just need to use the dump station to rinse it out. If we are at a state park, we will use the facilities though. The bathroom is really nice to have though, especially if boondocking or at BLM lands.
