Personally, I feel like this is basically an extreme form of body dysmorphia, which I suffer from, as well. I remember being 65kg when I was 24. I am a 178cm tall guy. I looked in the mirror and saw myself as fat, even though I was literally skinny as. I think it needs psych intervention to solve. Because the bigger Sam gets, the more stress on his joints and heart. Even Arnold has said that modern bodybuilding has gone far beyond reasonable.

Whenever i see a video of you i wonder if in like 20 Years, Doctors will use Memes to prove a point. Something like in the papers to any medicine we will have a photo (or a gif, maybe everything is digital then) of a Meme that summarizes something we have or should not do. It seems to be the burden of youth, when we are young we feel indestructible, mortality is not a concern! I wish the best for him, but he seems to be set on his path, I hope that the wake up lesson won't be as bad as we have witnessed with others.

High blood pressure is no joke. I had it undiagnosed for years because I was overweight, until I ended up in hospital with a reading of 219/124 and the nurse went pale and said I should not even be alive at that point. I should have been dead. I had absolutely no symptoms, until one day, my chest felt tight and I struggled to breathe. I have since given up smoking, changed my diet and exercise more. I was only 33 years old when I had my stent put in to save my life. Please, I implore everyone reading this, change your life style, improve your diet and for the love of God, get checked out by a doctor regularly.

100% brother my fiancée and I lost our baby due to a minor blood clot in her leg. Her body said no to blood supply to the baby to try and get it to her organs. Luckily she survived but our baby sadly did not. Spoke with the doc about this and he went into detail about high blood pressure. He’s seen non pregnant people with minor blood clots (even smaller than the one my fiancée died) due because of a minor blood clot. After he went into detail about the deaths he’s seen due to blood clots and heart surgeries he performed. I advise everyone not to risk it. The tiniest small clot will kill you. You won’t know it because sometimes you don’t feel it. It starts getting bad when your head starts pounding. After learning about how easy it is for a high blood pressure to kill you with cardiac arrests, small blood clots, and vein ruptures. It’s a silent killer Forsure. The risk is not worth the reward.

He took me off immediately, and now, at 52, I am at 175 I still have most of the muscle. But I remember I was told under no circumstances was I to take a specific type of Vaccine for COVID-19. As usul very insightful, I do have a question and wonder your thoughts on males going on TRT (with a clinic) in there mid to late 40’s or 50’s. This would be for men who’s mostly been physically active with no low testosterone levels even at 40 but curious what could be. Now this i understand would be a life long commitment depending on your physical goals but wonder what you think. Also note these are the men whos learned proper technique/form/ all the ways how to properly lift, run, workout etc and just wants to know what is beyond in a way. Essentially this is for me….haha but im sure there are many out there in the world. I was smart enough not to touch any of this in my 20’s but the mind grows weary and im really tired of being tired and wat that extra boost in everything physically.

From what I've heard, if your low test levels are due to following a dumb, extreme diet, you can raise them significantly by eating a balanced diet, eating more carbs, taking boron, whatever. If it's due to PEDs, you'll probably have to do TRT for the rest of your life. I'm afraid that might happen to the Samster.

Yeah, I don't really think they "motivate young people to do PED's" any more than other factors that already existed. And they aren't as impressive as super heroes and sports stars or whatever. Utility wise, they are more like fat people waddling around lifting big things on camera. If you're already bent on being "jacked" via shortcuts at the expense of your health, you're going to do it. Those options are just much more easily accessible today than back 30 years ago.

However, I was not going to be influenced by others. I am my own person, and I do not need others for validation. I work hard; try to eat right; and set realistic goals. Agreed. I liked the part about the increase in PED usage over time. We've normalised the abnormal. We've made it easier to get PEDs without people understanding the risks, or being supervised. Like a lot of other drugs, the suppliers just want the cash. Unsupervised, it has the same risk as with other drugs. If one pill makes you feel good, 2 or 3 will make you feel even greater, right? It seems the same with PEDs with people overdosing in pursuit of fast gains, without perhaps realising the damage they can be doing to their skeletal, cardio vascular systems etc. I don't think PEDs are necessarily a bad thing, but users need to be very aware of the risks.

If sociology, psychology weren't such female dominated areas you would have known that this has always happened to men and its only getting worse. Also there is the non getting big aesthetics male pressure that wants low body fat that completly ruins young boys development and adults health and its way bigger than the getting big because pretty much everyone knows that the vast majority of women does not like the bodybuilder body type but the favor a "greek god" like body.

I heavily disagree, there isn't much of a pressure. The overwhelming majority of those I know lifting arises mostly as a response to the "body positivity" "healthy at any size" movement. This isn't just speculation, they tell us all the time. Videos encouraging young men to be more physically active and fit all spread this message; "fuck body positivity, be the best you can be." Which ultimately has its origins in the "culture war." Finally, those that I know, who abuse anabolic steroids for this goal, often are suicidal/or expecting death. To them its either: "I use it and die, or I don't and die anyway." Not that I agree with them on that.

01:09 *🏋️‍♂️ Dr. Chris Raynor discusses Sam Sulek's physique, addressing concerns, and emphasizing the need for a nuanced medical perspective.*
02:18 *💉 Dr. Raynor briefly covers the risks associated with steroid use, including hormonal imbalances, cardiovascular issues, dependency, and irreversible physical changes.*
03:56 *❤️‍🩹 Steroid use may contribute to high blood pressure, atherosclerosis, and cardiac hypertrophy, posing serious risks to heart health.*
05:04 *🚫 Teenagers using steroids may face growth disruptions, fertility issues, mood disorders, and increased susceptibility to cancers, making the risks substantial.*
06:42 *🤔 Dr. Raynor explores the challenge of deterring young people from PED usage, considering societal influences, bodybuilding aspirations, and the desire for a standout physique.*
08:33 *📈 The use of anabolic steroids has grown into a worldwide substance abuse problem, shifting from elite athletes in the 1980s to a broader population, driven by personal appearance goals.*
10:49 *💪 Societal preoccupation with physical prowess, as seen in athletes, bodybuilders, and influencers, contributes to the value hierarchy placing physique above optimal long-term health.*
13:48 *🔄 Dr. Raynor suggests rewiring societal priorities to promote a less reckless, more health-focused lifestyle, challenging the current emphasis on physique in the attention-based economy.*
18:55 *🏋️‍♂️ Health is not the primary reason people follow influencers like Sam Sulek; it's the personality, attitude, and physique, which may not align with optimal health practices.*
20:47 *🔄 While Sam Sulek prefers high-intensity lifting, focusing on a rep range above eight helps mitigate risks, reducing the likelihood of unsafe decisions under the barbell.*
22:18 *🏋️ Sam Sulek focuses on high-effort weightlifting, not necessarily lifting the heaviest weights, with an emphasis on maximizing hypertrophy (muscle size) rather than lifting as heavy as possible.*
22:32 *🕒 Sam's average workout duration is around 45 minutes per muscle, with an additional 50 minutes for warm-up, indicating a time-efficient training approach.*
23:14 *🍔 Sam's eating habits include a high-carb and fast-food diet, which may not be suitable for everyone. His diet lacks focus on nutrient density and deficiencies beyond tracking calories and protein.*
24:11 *🍕 Sam's dietary choices are influenced by convenience due to his schedule as a working student bodybuilder. However, it may not be a sustainable or advisable long-term approach for overall health.*
25:20 *💉 Discussion on Larry Wheels' statement about experimenting with performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) at a young age, emphasizing the potential recovery advantages of youth in bodybuilding.*
27:43 *🤔 Bodybuilding is compared to a long-distance race, suggesting that a methodical and less reckless approach to training, diet, and PEDs may be more beneficial for long-term success.*
29:57 *⚖️ The debate on whether Sam Sulek's intense approach to bodybuilding is a recipe for disaster or a valid pursuit is inconclusive. It depends on his personal goals, honesty with viewers, and willingness to accept potential consequences.*

Partials are great if you also tax your muscle through full range of motion. If you don't do that, you build muscular instability which ONLY results in injury. SO yeah you can gain more muscle, but then that muscle isn't protecting you from injury.
Proper full ROM protects from injury.

In bodybuilding all of this is missing - you don't observe and score the techniques the athletes use to get in shape. Also, the standards of performance are set by people who are enchanced.
