- The Girl Named Feriha - Episode 1 Summary:
Feriha is a girl who lives in a luxurious neighbourhood. Her father works as a janitor in an apartment block, which management provides the family with a small apartment in the basement. Feriha is in the middle of a world, where desires and opportunities seem endless. Her dreams and reality will be stirred up when she attends a private university with a full scholarship. She quickly starts being the center of attention for the upper class students at the university, including Emir, who is a rich and handsome playboy. She wears her rich neighbour's clothes, trying to look wealthy but for how long can she pretend to be someone she is not?
The beautiful daughter of a janitor will rise up from her own world to a false world that she has built herself. Alas, this new world that she has built, will consume her and her family. The real life struggles of mother and daughter will become a battle with no return.

What I love about this show is that it is realistic but fairy tale like at the same time. Used to watch it back during my 2016/17 on Zindagi channel and never thought upon the deeper meaning of the show. Feriha is poor but beautiful , intelligent and wise at the same time. The girl never gave up , fought for her dreams , worked hard and is a good example of feminism. Hande , Emir etc were all priveleged , rich kids happy on the surface level , but deep down they are sad and lonely with no plan and dreams. I love how the actors have justified each and every character . It's not just a rich guy - poor girl show , the show teaches us about perseverance , dark truths of rich class society , class differences , patriarchal society and a lot more. Feriha , a poor girl , Her mom and Hande a rich girl, Aysun , Cansu's step mom are all victims of patriarchal society in one way or the other. Emir and Levant are also stuck ups , who are not happy despite belonging to a rich background. Back when I was a kid , I thought Emir - Hande etc were happy , but now as a grown up I realise they are not.
Yes .I watched it when I was 12 yrs old and this is not a show or drama for me tbh ..it goes by the name but it's a part of my life and I will keep watching it again and again

This show is indeed an epitome of style, reality of life along with lots of memories and nostalgia 😢 I used to watch this serial with my grandma in 2016, I was in grade three (3) at that time. I was so close and fervently attached to her. She was an English teacher in her time and my skills in this language are all attributed to her. My granny is no more 😢 She left for heavenly abode and I always cry bitterly remembering her! Tears are shedding down my cheeks and I am overwhelmed with a sense of gloom and a plethora of memories of my beloved grandma ❤ God bless her!! She used to ask me to take inspiration from Feriha that despite the fact she is poor, she always persisted hard and with due diligence she converted her mother's dreams into reality.
The essence of this show is indescribable; simply elegant.
i have seen this serie for the first time in 2013 when it aired in my country. I was 9 back then, and since then,i keep rewatching this for at least 4 times/year. It's been almost 10 years since i am into this and i cannot get enough of this serie. I am so thankful i found this masterpiece. I know I will come back here again in some months and I don't feel bad about it. The best Turkish drama out there. The ending broke me, but in my heart the serie stopped the moment they left the apartament

Sorry to say this but she was sad all this entire series because of her lies and how she feared every day that her lies will be discovered...The rich group is not guilty...Look at the My left side:richer people,mean girl who loves the male character but the poor girl doesn't let the mean girl or the rich group make her sad or be down...Serra in My left side is honest,courageous and mature just from the begining without trying to impress anybody,the rich group...Feriha is sad bc she is frustrated that her lies aren't her reality...She can't assume who she really is...
So let this story be from another perspective; a story mostly centred around a girl and her lies, without the lies it would be entirely different storyline altogether.

it all started with the love of feriha and emir that even though i have watched this serial so many times that i lost track, I always come back to it .... after this serie I fell in love with turkish series and even with the country, so much that I visited Istanbul in november 2020 ...did not let me down.. even more magical in person.... 😍.....

BELIEVABLE RELATABLE STORY
After more than a decade this drama continues to have following. A lot of people are attracted to this story (some watch on repeat) because it’s intense, believable, relatable, and unfortunately it’s real life for some. These may be our neighbours our friends as we know it, there are cultures, community, people who live such strict and conservative lifestyle and girls who unfortunately suffer like Feriah.

Another main attraction, without a doubt, is of course these young actors themselves, Hazal Kaya and Çağatay Ülusoy two great and beautiful faces. Viewers never get tired of their caring, warm, and tender romancing, and the dynamic duo on screen chemistry is just fantastic; for some, it’s nostalgia of their youth!
Unbelievably, the emotional roller coaster that the story brings makes us stay hooked forever wondering what’s at the next episode and even as we reach the end, we want to go back and rewatch it again because the ending left us the feeling of unfulfilled, unfinished, unsatisfactory, injustice, unfairness, ie an ending with no closure filled with sadness and distress. So we go back to “happier times” and start again.
That’s how I explain to myself why I’m still here even after months….

So many people in Bosnia watched this religiously haha. I remember visiting my hometown of Mostar in 2012, this show was a total hit. Heck, I joined in when my best friend's ex-girlfriend talked me into it. Now, I'm rewatching, screw it haha. It's a classic.
