I remember Game Informer comparing this game vs NFL 2k2 and Madden. I also remembered it saying Fever 2002 visually out classed the others due to its 5,000+ polygons per character vs 2K2's 2,700 per character. And it shows. That Xbox was one powerful beast back then. NFL fever 2004 continues to be my favorite NFL game of all time.
It's funny you say that, I feel the same exact way. I love ESPN NFL 2K5, it's one of my favorite football games, but there's something unique and special about the NFL Fever series. However, I just ordered a brand new sealed copy of NFL Fever 2004 on eBay the other day, it should be here by Tuesday. I don't have an original Xbox anymore, but I have an Xbox 360 Slim to play it on. I also have a Series X as well, I wish all of the NFL Fever games were backwards compatible, I bet NFL Fever would run butter smooth on the new hardware. With that being said, NFL Fever was ahead of its time when it first came out, the way jerseys got dirty, the way the towels and jerseys moved, and how QBs had hand warmers. Also, the way footprints would build up in the snow over time was awesome. NFL Fever is definitely my favorite NFL game of all-time as well, hands down.
After playing NFL Fever 04 on the Xbox 360, I can confirm that playing it on the original Xbox is the best way to experience the game. For some reason, the game has a HUGE bug with playbooks on the 360. None of the plays in the playbook show the correct play art, they're all messed up. Also, the color looks way better on the original Xbox as well. With that said, I have a feeling this is due to Xbox running an emulation of the game and that the 360 isn't running the official game from thr disc. Anyway, I'm looking for an original Xbox to play this on due to the bugs it has on 360 that didn't exist on the original Xbox.

It may be just me but nfl fever 2002blooks better than nfl fever 2004. Smoother too
