It’s nice to read the words of someone from the state itself. When you are more directly impacted, your words carry more weight. I adore Governor Cuomo, but the fact that I don’t live in New York made me feel a little cautious about whether I was seeing him clearly. Thank you for validating my thoughts that this man is the leader we needed for this country at this time. It’s why I watched his press conferences every day when I lost my job due to COVID. He was my daily comfort for months.

The majority are trying their hardest with this, but a few ruin it for all of us. Still the effort goes on, and I do believe that the world will become educated, albeit the hard way, And there are still many random acts of kindness everywhere you look. A lot of people on these posts are expressing genuine love for each other!!! I am so happy to participate too! :) :) :)
Fellow New Yorker here. To all the other 50 states that's not NY, as much as a disagree and sometimes loathe Cuomo's policymaking, I do agree he has done a decent job handling the pandemic. At the very least, a way better job than what Trump has done. The results speak for itself so credit is due where credit is deserved.
Majority of my fellow New Yorkers are wearing masks when outside, that action alone is already more than what Trump has done (even for himself). As for the part of people leaving NY in flocks, I honestly do not notice any difference in pedestrian density since the city reopened. A lot of businesses have closed but that's not exclusive to just NY. From my point of view, I actually feel much safer in NYC than I did back in early March/June. I would rather not venture out of the city if I had a choice in it.

I’m wondering which part of the city you’re referring to. I’m in Queens and for the most part feel safe there but at times I’m in Manhattan for work (specifically the Penn Station Times Square area) and it looks terrible there. Def don’t feel safe at all as it seems those are areas have been turned over to junkies and lowlives

I’m a PROUD NY’r and this state has done an amazing job to keep “EVERYONE” in mind during this pandemic.
My only brother just returned back home at the beginning of September from California because he is in End Stage Renal failure due to a disease he was born with. He wants and needs to be close to his family! When he left California, their covid rates were extremely high in LA where he lived. When he arrived at the airport they took his info and told him to stay home as much as possible. The health department called him everyday for 2 weeks to check in on him.
And throughout this all, they also understood that he has a severe disease and major health issues, and with grace they assured him he would still be able to go to necessary medical appointments as long as he wore a mask and social distance as much as possible.
These seem like pretty easy tasks, right?! But the complainers and whiners make this so difficult, Trump being the biggest baby of them all!
I may not like some of my governors policies, but I appreciate and admire his tough grit, his information, his belief in our medical community, and for giving a damn about those who are not as healthy as others! We wear a mask for people like my brother, who has serious medical conditions! We wear masks for our elderly generations, who were a part of this country and state long before you and I to keep them healthy and alive. We wear masks for our neighbors, our friends, and even our enemies!
Thank you Governor Cuomo! Real compassionate leadership is what this country needs right now, and I whole heartily appreciate everything you’ve done from this life lone Central New Yorker!

Nearly every person in our Mexican town, wear masks. There are cleaning gels everywhere. At banks and other businesses, temperature checks REQUIRED to enter. If Corona has a low mortality rate, it is because do the work to protect our communities.

Same here in KL, Malaysia, but we still have outbreaks from illegal immigration at the border of Indonesia and by sea. Those outbreaks start in less developed parts of Malaysia and occasionally arrive here in KL.

I was born in NYC, & I didn't expect anything less than a complete commitment, from all residents of the state, to treat & contain COVID19.
I now live on the west coast. Population 4.218 million, 40,178 active COVID19 cases, &
647 COVID19 deaths. One death from COVID19 is too many but I commend my state's governor & health dept; we get an email briefing every single day. Those briefings include individual cases & corporate cases, where to get help- financial; food; shelter; & mental health, & the phases for reopening businesses & schools. That's how you handle a crisis of this nature.
In California there are 40,000,000 people. Los Angeles has 4,000,000 of them. We just need to pull together and do the right thing!!! No more carelessness, no taking unnecessary chances, no more bare faces, no more crowds, follow the rules! There's no "Do Overs"!!! We can do this!!!

I'm in Nova Scotia, Canada and we are part of a 4 province bubble, (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland/Labrador)....we can travel freely through those 4 provinces without having to quarantine but if you come into or leave the bubble you need to quarantine for 2 weeks ...Nova Scotia has 5 active cases of covid with no hospitalizations at the moment and all of the cases are travel related.

Most people don't even know they have it unless they get tested. I had a cold when it first became a big thing. Did I have Covid? Probably not, but most people who get it recover like a normal cold or flu. An interesting stat I've seen reported is that there all almost no deaths from regular flu this year. Kind of weird.

I listened to governor Cuomo each night and found solace. I am a true fan of Cuomo
I live in PA, and I listened to Cuomo’s daily briefings every day during lockdown. It was refreshing and comforting to hear someone calmly but firmly giving numbers, stats, and facts, instead of spewing out nonsensical word salad about a national emergency everybody was confused and frightened about. The president rambled and deflected, media speculated, but Cuomo delivered the facts that he knew every single day with decorum, even if they were rapidly changing. @@diane7912 whenever a national tragedy happened in America, my grandfather (a decorated WWII veteran), and my father, his son, would always point to the president and say “the buck stops there.” Why is Trump any different? Why was this such a national disaster across all states, not just NY? The buck does not stop at the governors of the states, who are at the behest of a higher form of government. It stops at the leader of the nation. In Trump’s case, however, “leader” deserves to be in quotation marks, as the man doesn’t know how to lead anything, much less a goddamn country.

Seth Meyers definitely has the tightest monologue, but I love how much Colbert cares and how incredibly smart he is. Trevor Noah has great, deep observations. John Oliver does the deep dive we all need to navigate the world better. James Cordon is definitely the most light-hearted and I love his enthusiasm for his interviewees.
Cuomo isn't perfect, but better than Trump.

You're talking about when they added in God we trust. When the Constitution was created, the founding fathers did not want any religious dogma. Even back then, they knew religion had no purpose in politics. In fact, many of the founding fathers were atheists! I agree that government and religion need to be separate. Unfortunately, it's not!
