I have the 1st gen BX-4 12x50's, and they are pretty much the same minus the newer eyecups. I have exactly the same issue with the tripod mount placement. I ordered the Leupold OEM mount and can't close the binoculars enough to use them. I guess I will have to use a strap system or something else.

I ended up turning the Bino's upside down to use them but it's awkward.

I tried the basic Celestron mount today and it works! It's a very thin mount with only a thumb screw, so it doesn't get in the way of the binoculars closing (mostly). There is still a slight gap, but it is only as wide as the material on the lens covers. I just ordered the Tricer Bino Adapter as well and am hoping that it will fit the same way, but add the benefits of a quick-mount stud. I'll let you know if that one works out.

Appreciate another great honest review. I had the Gen 1 version and I just couldn't stand it due to the excessive amounts of chromatic aberration. It was a hige disappointment so I sent them in for warranty brand new straight out of the box along with a BX1 BX2 and BX3 all needing warranty and they swapped them out for a 10x42 and 12x50 BX5 Santiams after giving me an upgrade option. Very happy about it. Really like mt BX5 Santiam 15x56. Props to Leupold!!!

Gen 1 does have the same diopter adjustment.
The same case came with the gen 1 BX4's too.

    Where are these made?

These do not have magnesium tubes; they are aluminum.

Sorry about that, I must have had these confused with the BX4 Range HDs

I recommend the Skyrover Banner Cloud APO if you want best bang for your buck in high end quality Binoculars. Zero chromatic aberration and ridiculously wide FOV similar to my NL Pures.

Chromatic operation in Japanese class at that price point is completely unacceptable. Take a look at the Bushnell engage EDX, which has extra low dispersion glass and has virtually no chromatic aberration whatsoever about half the price.

Bear in mind almost all camera footage imparts its own CA as it has a lens too. Naked eye CA was far less noticeable.

For me it looked like a 50 $ binocular. If it was the cameras fault, a better one shoud be used and the test repeated. Otherwise it leaves a bad impression of this binocular.

@@loukili63 That's why I film all of my tests with the same camera so it's better used as a comparison. See my Maven or Athlon reviews.
