- It was a slick calm day in Islamorada, Florida Keys so we headed out to the reef for some grouper fishing! We finally catch one trolling and he's a 25'' keeper! It was our first black grouper of the 2020 season. We also come across a pair of turtles mating and then drive by some big coral heads. Back at home we put the grouper on the Traeger Grill for Dinner! Enjoy!

I can't get over the clarity of the water.
Go to the keys. It is beautiful late springs and early summers are top of the line time for clarity.

I was raised in Miami and now live in Kansas but have been going to Bud& Mary's since 1962. The fishing is great on the ocean or bay side, spear fishing and lobster fishing can't be beat. Check it out and stay in one of the house boats or rentals you won't be disappointed.

Nick, try the throat meat side down first. This way you can peel that liner off then when you flip it then put the seasoning on. I do the same thing with the bluefin tuna and California yellow tail that i catch.

Black grouper is as good as it gets for best tasting reef fish. The trick is to put olive oil on it and NOT overlook it. Just wondered why y'all didn't hit the reefs and deep drop for em instead of trolling😎👍👍
We did on opening day and got skunked , then we spent the first two hours this day using live grunts, pinfish, and pilchards and got skunked , so we went trolling

There's a couple of seafood markets down there that ship....you should try one of them.

@@fishingadventure7065 look up fish markets in the keys....I've driven by Islamorada fish company ( currently closed) and Fanci seafood inc. < they're open and they ship. Getting the species you suggest should not be a problem. Now, if you want mantis shrimp....that could be a problem.

Here's a little grouper throat trick. Steam them until done, let them cool and pick all the meat off. Get a good crab cake recipe and use the picked grouper in place of the crab. IT'S AWESOME, works with any good size mild fish, snook, red fish, red snapper.....
