One thing I've found really works is that I have a group of villagers that work my barn (making daub and fertiliser, threshing grain etc). At the start of each season I move them over to my farm for a day and they harvest and replant. Then I move them back. I don't like the idea of my farming villagers slacking off for two thirds of the season. 😅
