- Hey guys!! Last minute I decided to actually try out a few of the beauty products from R.E.M. Beauty by Ariana Grande! I was on the fence about then and couldn't tell if they were going to be good or cheap from online photos so I thought I would try them out and get to the bottom of it! I would love to know your thoughts on the products and if you picked anything up! Thanks so much for watching! :)

The thing that excited me about this brand was the SUPER deep highlight. I just felt like it was gorgeous and was glad to see some depth of offering for highlight shades. I hope their complexion products give the same energy

The pics they used reminded me of the cheapy late 90’s Bonne belle flipshades etc. ( I mean I had those... no offense to miss bonne belle 😂) that silvery plastic. Glad they’re much more lux in person ❤️
The packaging looks cheap to me. But I think it's because it reminds me of my old scratched-up disc-man that I used to have. (God I feel old). Anyways, I love that you've now added your perfume bottles to the background :)
I thought the highlighters were single shadows too! I picked up the mascara. I'm very curious about the eyeshadow formula though so I'm really interested in seeing what you think of it! ♥️❤️
This whole line is giving me very 90s Almay vibes. Looks super cheap to me…but you make a compelling point about it matching her general aesthetic!
By the way I always watch your videos but never comment. Your makeup is always sooo gorgeous 🥰

It kinda separates on the lid, hard to explain but it just doesn't stick where the hood hangs over. Like the other person said, there are dupes that are much better and cheaper
id love to see your review about-face! they’re actually my fav brand, but they only really get traction on instagram. they’re matte fluid eye paints are so fun, they have glitter eyeshadows now too! also, the liquid highlighter is my holy grail. it’s so smooth and velvety, it’s almost blurring (unheard of for a highlighter!). it’s so good it appeased my makeup goblin and i’ve had no desire to purchase any other highlighters. i’ve also almost completely panned a lip liner in the shade cradled. i love this brand and id love to see more youtubers review them
Yes! I love about-face for the most part-the lip liners are my holy grail and I really enjoy all the eye products (glitter brow gel!!) but I'm not a huge fan of the liquid lipsticks or glosses. I love how innovative they are
Don’t come for me but I’m not a big Ariana fan, however I can appreciate her talent. That said, I’m not really feeling the vibe of this launch or brand yet. I’m usually cautious when it comes to celebrity brands, like I was with Fenty and Rare beauty but now have a few things from both and love. The liquid shadows looked ok but I didn’t like the way they looked on the models, too sheer. Thank Lauren
I'm not gonna lie. When I first saw the highlighters, I thought they were single eye shadows, which made me go "what in the dollar store?", but I'm glad they're highlighters
I am fatigued of celebrity brands personally. (In my opinion) Ever since people saw the massive success of Fenty beauty I feel like celebrities are just pumping out shit just to sell. Aaand even with Fenty I still don’t buy into the hype for some products lol. So idk maybe it’s my adult brain growing up and being VERY selective/practical for my everyday makeup choices.…. This goes with any brand in general. I hope that made sense?
Yep; the profit margins in cosmetics and skincare are phenomenal, so naturally celebrities want in on the cash grab. Rihanna doesn’t even seem to be interested in Fenty beauty anymore; the brand is running itself without her.
I think it's so interesting that you were intrigued about the brand after seeing the marketing images/videos, because it was the complete opposite for me! Not that I was interested before, but once I saw the packaging reveal with the marketing photos I was COMPLETELY turned off from ever buying from the brand. You're totally right that the vision is cohesive, but its personally not a vision or packaging that I like at aaaaall.
The only celebrity I was excited for them coming out with a brand is Rhianna because I actually really listened to and loved her music. And she really hasn't disappointed. I do wish she released more eyeshadows like she used to. Because when she cane out with those first few palettes I wasn't interested in them but now I love those kinds of shimmery shades.
I feel like I would not have known what to do with that palette, but I love the look you came up with. So far nothing screams “buy now” but it’s also a first launch 🤷🏼♀️
There is something about the way you move your hands and how you hold your hands when you display products that is so elegant. I can’t explain it- but I love it!

It looks a lot better here, love the silver sci-fi packaging. The typography bothers me though the squiggly logo just doesn’t match the sleek lines. I kinda wish she went more sci-fi rather than y2k, I feel like there’s no brand that really goes there and it would work so well with electronics etc. Also if she did some colour palettes matching her music videos or something
Yes to color palettes matching her music videos! Break Free would be the prime example.
I'm so disappointed that she chose to use Morphe/Forma to create her brand so I don't see myself purchasing for the foreseeable future, but I'm so glad the quality of the products is good and it seems like the packaging is much nicer in person than in pictures based on all the reviews I've seen. Still feels a little too cash-grabby for me even though I love Ariana, but hopefully they only get better in the future :)

that was the main idea but it turned out more like a y2k because of the cheap look and cooler tones

The initial photos I saw of the products looked super super cheapy to me, so I’m glad to see they look better in real life but still, something about the eye shadow palettes and the clear y2k inspiration comes off sort of kid ish or cheap to me.. idk, I probably won’t be spending my money on any of it
The eye look came out gorgeous 😍 it actually LOOKS really luxe on the eyes. Reminding me of a look you would get with luxury makeup. I will probably skip this whole line, unless the lip products are amazing. I have been getting into lippies more lately and on the search for the perfect cool-toned and brown-leaning lipps. And the packaging does looks cute.

I'm actually surprised that more people didn't get on using Lady Gaga's brand because her liquid eyeliner is my favorite formula and I really love her lip glosses too. I even like the packaging of those products. I'm not sure if it's basically because it's sold on Amazon but I've enjoyed those products. Would like to see more people give it a chance and a real review.
Her lip glosses are really nice. I bought a couple at the launch, they were only sold in packs of two at the time. Honestly I didn’t buy anything else because the colors weren’t my thing, and then I just forgot about the brand. Maybe if they ended up at SephUlta they’d have better exposure.

Tbh I thought she was serving a vintage space aesthetic like Barbarella. That's why I found the design of the packages to be odd.
I just want you to know I absolutely adore the looks you create. I am currently in love with my make up collection so I’m actually not interested in buying anything right now which is very rare so I’m riding that wave right now, but your looks inspired me to go into my collection to see if I can re-create and I’m having such a good time. All the credit I was willing to give her and her team for original packaging went out the window when I found out they basically carbon copied an award winning design from a Chinese brand. Plagiarism ain't cute.

Ahh so excited to hear your thoughts on this line! Personally I'm an Ariana fan and I will say: I planned on purchasing for that reason lol My husband bought me a few things as a Christmas gift, and I bought a couple more to use now when they arrive. I get some people weren't "wow'd" by the collection based on just photos. But I felt like it fit the theme that Ariana was going for with the line. She's talked about in so many interviews how she loves old movies, especially Barbarella, and that old school space themed genre (if that makes any sense lol). I love the vibe of that mixed with Y2K theming (I mean the name of some of the glosses like Jelly Sandals: I'm obsessed lol). That it wasn't her just trying to slap her name on something, if I'm making any sense? Is it the most luxurious brand? No. BUT I do love the price point of everything and I'm ok with it not being some luxurious and boujee brand lol I'm super intrigued to try the liquid eyeshadows too! I grabbed one to use for every day at work and hope it'll serve that purpose :) I'd also be intrigued to hear your thoughts on About Face too, as someone else mentioned! I haven't tried them yet but I've been dying too.. and I love Halsey lol!
Thank you for doing a review of REM beauty; I was curious even though I won’t be buying, as I’m planning a one year no-buy for 2022 and using up the massive collection I already have. From now until the end of the year when I buy something it has to be a product I truly need and not just want… and I don’t need anything from this launch. The eyeshadow look is very pretty on you and it really sets off your eyes, beautiful! 🥰
After everyone trashing Rare Beauty before it launching and then realized it was good, I was shocked and everyone trashing this before it launched. It may not be revolutionary, but the backlash I saw was wild.
I'm happy to see you do that palette! All the PR packages are the neutral one and I wanted to see the others. That liquid shadow was so pretty!

The highlighters looked sooooo chalky in the promo pics
The liquid shadows caught my eye. Whats the shelf life on them? So many are designed to only last 3-6 months, and dry up and become unusable after a few uses
You love that type of brown to blue duo chrome as much as I love a blue red lip! I have so many BUT EACH IS DIFFERENT I SWEAR!! 😂❤️
I think I’m the only one who actually loves this line. And I’m not even a Grande stan by any means. Her music is great but I’m able to separate my opinions from her and appreciate the simplicity of the brand itself. It’s completely up my alley as I like simple and elegant but still millennial type packaging. Overall I think the brand is awesome and I love what they’ve released so far. Can’t wait to get my package!

I'm happy you got that palette because the color story intrigued me. It swatched nice, but I do like more pigmentation.

This review completely changed my opinion on the line. From the images I thought it was boring and looked super cheap but here it all looks beautiful. Especially the shadows.
There is a whole thread on reddit on how the packaging for the entire line is a copy of a Chinese makeup brand.
people on reddit literally rub one out to hating on every brand that isn’t made by rihanna. so take it with a grain of salt.

i would like to know how it wears during the day, the liquid eyeshadow! Alot of them looks and feels nice when you applied them but starts to flake glitter all over your face after a few hours
I think this is probably the most boring release for a brand ever. It’s just over saturation for the sake of making a quick dollar!! This isn’t makeup we needed it isn’t revolutionary what so ever and I really think it’s more makeup for fans not true makeup lovers!!

I know it's all the rage to be bored by Lady Gaga's Haus Labs brand (I'm a big fan of hers and I think it's kinda boring too) but I'd love to see you do this for her brand. Her lip liners are sharpenable pencils and I know you love that haha

Not my cup of tea. To me, the liquid eyeshadow didn’t have enough shift, is too chunky and looked to blue on camera. It looked very uneven before you layered it.
It’s a Morphe brand. The packaging design is borrowed from a Chinese makeup brand that won international design awards with it (they used an additional color gradient on it, looks a lot more fresh). I don’t like the brand name and the logo design. They didn’t even try.
Sorry, but for me, this is nothing but a cash grab and under 25$ isn’t cheap.

Plus, the highlighter enhanced your texture on your cheek. Which I didn't even think u had before highlighting it with that product.

The cool toned eyeshadow palette is my style. I too thought the highlighter was eyeshadow, specifically the purple one. 5 years ago, I would have bought it in a snap. I have been wearing nothing but cream and liquid shadows lately, from NYX and Stila to Huda and Laura Mercier and Kiko Milano. So much easier to get ready.
I’m so glad you did this video. Before this video, I was completely ignoring the brand. After your video, I felt inspired by the products which is what I love about makeup. Then I went to the website and saw the products first hand. I still felt inspired. I happily made a purchase and I look forward to trying the products.
When you talked about the swirly imprint on the highlighter, it made me remember this targeted ad I got for a Chinese makeup brand called Florasis. The images really captivated me, I'm not usually someone to click on ads. The eyeshadow palettes especially are unlike anything I've ever seen before. I was wondering if you're familiar with this brand. I'd really love to hear your thoughts!
Oh yes I saw those ads and checked out the site; the carving on the powders just blew my mind, it’s so pretty 😍 Chantecaille and Clé de Peau also have beautiful carvings on their powders.
i honestly feel like a lot of this brand feels very dated? the babydoll palette reminds me of the kinds of palettes we saw during the modern renaissance era, same with the mint coloured powder highligh- so dated! the only product i actually have any interest in right now is the liquid eyeshadow but considering it’s $16 and international shipping is $18 i’ll definitely be skipping it
The complaints about the packaging are so odd to me, im not a makeup artist, my shit all gets thrown together and it gets dirty… if the package needs to be glittery and have a chocolate bar dripping down the side i automatically think it’s compensating for the quality. I only use mac. The package is simple and black and absolutely no one complains. Its sleek and professional. Idk to me when the product speaks for itself the package shouldn’t need to be extravagant. Another main complaint was the nude pallette, which I gravitated towards. Then also praise the new rose quartz pallette which is nothing different either. The make up community is funny.
i think the complaints about the packaging are valid, because it’s a bit, well ugly to me honestly. it doesn’t really fit ariana grande’s aesthetic in my opinion and i feel like they should have gone with more pastel tones or like deep galaxy shades or something. i just feel like the silver definitley makes it look cheap. they could’ve done simple, easy to clean packaging that also looked more modern
@@fion8071 pastels are definitely not Ariana… the space theme goes. Its not the first time she’s incorporated that into her stuff.. whether it be music or perfumes.. idk i see all the crazy packaging in sephora, ulta, etc and walk right by.. mac is a top brand with simple packaging.. ive also used drug store brands that i think are better than some brands these makeup youtubers would recommend. Its really comes down to preference i guess. Like the pallette she used here is the ugliest one out of the 3 and its the one that excited her the most. Makeup is kinda subjective
Highly agree with all the points you made. No one is ever truly pleased in this community but watch all these opinions change in a few months when rem beauty releases more stuff.
@@cheerbunnii her perfumes are all very pastel, and so are her album themes. they’re very soft and yes pastel can still be galaxy/space themed.

I am definitely passing on this one. I saw Allure's & Teen Vogue's reviews on the products and yikes. The eye shadow looked so ashy, patchy, and weak on everyone. And this launch does not excite me in the least. At least Rihanna and Selena Gomez created some gorgeous products with their lines. Grande's line looks so... hackneyed. To me.

The thing with the packaging. Is that it is a themed out compact, so combining it with the wonky text font. Just makes it tacky, unfortunately.
I’m not a big fan of AG but the few videos and interviews I’ve seen she isn’t known for her makeup so I’m kinda leaning into it’s a Financial move on her part but I could very well be wrong.

Is the packaging aluminum or plastic? If it's actually aluminum I'm interested. More celebs need to start putting their money where their mouths are and stop selling makeup in plastic packaging. Ari and all of these other celebs can afford to use materials that aren't going to ultimately end up in our bodies as microplastics
I have the mascara I don’t thinks it’s aluminum it’s definitely some sort of metal and it’s not plastic.

Completely unrelated but there is an oud cedar & amber soap from target that is incredible and made me think of you because soap has never made me feel like an expensive bitch the way this stuff did

the palette is pretty, but it looks like a muted and less colorful version of the Kaleidos Futurism Astro Pink palette and I absolutely love that one! The liquid shadow is pretty, but I'm not tempted. Love your look though ❤️
I got a little scared when you first started using the liquid shadow because it looked like it was picking up what was underneath it, or just not laying down in certain areas and looked like it was bunching up. Pretty sure that was just from the lighting though, because when you started turning your head a bit, there was definitely shadow in the areas that looked bare before. The end eye look was really pretty. The highlighter looked beautiful I thought, a really nice color on your skin, but I definitely know that what it looks like on camera isn’t always how it is in person. Do you ever go over more powdery highlighter formulas with a damp sponge? I find that if I spray my face first, if I’m not using a gelee formula, I almost always have to do that. I can see that being an extra step some people might not be into doing though, especially if they don’t use a sponge for anything else. 🤷🏻♀️

When I first saw the Highlighters they looked powdery in the promo pics. I was skeptical, especially with the colors she came out with. I prefer a highlight with basically only reflect and no base so it truly just catches the light and looks shiny 🌟
I know nothing about Ariana Grande, but I love this aesthetic and the packaging does look way better on the video than the pictures lol

I have been curious to see if this line is any good because it’s by Forma brands aka Morphe’s parent company. I was curious to see if this would be basically overpriced Morphe.
Every shimmer in that Huda palette looked like a JD Glow shadow. I couldn't believe it! I was naming them off like -Good Gawd, Unexpected, Hey Papi etc. I am def not into these rem products either. I did buy a touch n sol shadow off Amazon though, and the holika shadows are bomb. I give you points for that, lol.
Lol I saw other youtubers saying highlighters and then when I watched your video and you said single shadow I was like "whoa that makes more sense as the products being single shadows" and then they weren't...
