The thing that amazes me is that some of these EU custom forms still appear to be PEN and PAPER!!!! and some of them are being rejected for being in the wrong color ink or having a single transcriber error. FOR CHRISTS SAKE THIS IS THE 21ST CENTURY. I can't remember the last time I filled in a pen and paper form, everything is now electronic and online and barcode scanning is everywhere. There is clearly a role for some innovative UK company to digitise this paperwork and provide the supportive software to produce custom forms quickly with 100% accuracy in a fraction of the time it would take to handwrite them.
The UK built the Philae spaceprobe that landed on a comet, it must be within our innovative ability to do this.

@@amadonuno perhaps he is talking about learning opportunities, intellectually. Not that he is a Brexiter or protectionist or lacks of social awareness and empathy. Or may be not and he is all of those things. Too soon to tell! :)

Who is paying for these additional processes and paperwork to be created and monitored? who carries the burden of cost and time?

No extra procedure there. This has always has been the procedure for importing from outside the EU. Apart from EU, the whole world does trade this way. Once you understand how it works, the whole thing takes maximum 5 minutes work.

So would my items at £28 shipping from the UK cause all European countries to pay a import tax / customs fee? A few customers in germany and latvia have already had to pay extra fees even though the product is that cheap? Will this always be the case?
Also why do my US customers not need to pay any extra fees?

UK and EU is in the situation like Scotland in UK - no choice but wait for EU permissions/ decision and prices.. Economically is simple EU has bigger control on you now than before. Solution- be (almost) fully sufficient.
