the quartet itself is amazing, and the extended arrangement is stunning in its depth of sound, I would especially like to note the high quality of the sound recording
One important accolade of Mahler is the arrangement for string orchestra of this particular composition. With Mahler it is always a love/ hate thing, there will be many things you like about him and many things you hate about him, the more you learn, the more this is inevitably true. The orchestration of this quartet will fall under something you love about him most probably. It is so much richer in the base line, making it a necessary work for those who enjoy rich sounding robust base on their headphones or home stereo.
Proficiat!
I kind of wish Mahler had gone all the way and arrange it for full orchestra and not just for strings. There are some versions of it around for full orchestra, but I think Mahler being the master he was, he would made the best of all the versions. Even if it had ended sounding more orchestrated by him instead of Schubert.
The possibility of Mahler using wind instruments in an arrangement of this superb work is very tantalising considering how Mahler used woodwind so beautifully…. in particular in his symphonies.Ian
@@newworldsymphony For me, your rendition of Mahler's arrangement with MTT is a reference, as is that of the original work with the Quartetto Italiano. Thank you for sharing! ua-cam.com/video/Gq6iS7sGVz0/v-deo.html

Thanks for pointing out the quality of the recording. We're lucky to have great people in charge of that.

I completely agree

A beautiful performance of a work sent by heaven to a god-forsaken world. Let the Buddha's light shine.
Thanks for watching.
This music is best for a string quartet, not a big orchestra. My opinion.
Much agreed, the nuance in dynamics and balance is completely ruined by the presence of so many instruments
We still thank you for watching and sharing your opinion.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
@@newworldsymphony That being said, wonderful job!
I also want to recommend this version: ua-cam.com/video/I9QLqs1IY3w/v-deo.html&ab_channel=NorwegianChamberOrchestra
Thank for the recommendation :)
Original Schubert's quartet sounds much more powerful than this arrangement.
Interesting opinion. Is there a recording on UA-cam you like in particular?
