now my Zenfone 8 Flip won't turn on nor charge and I have some files I want to recover. where does the built in storage located? with the motherboard or the bottom board? also could it possibly be a battery issue?
watching this because my phone accidentally submerged into water for a few seconds but manged to survive for 2 months, then rn it suddenly crashed then it wont turn on nor charge.... I wanna cry
With water damage, you don't want to attempt to use the phone. You need to turn it off, take it apart and disconnect the battery so you don't risk shorting the parts inside. Then dry out any water, and use a small brush like a tooth brush to brush off any corrosion around chips and connectors. Then assemble to see if it will work, if not you will need to replace parts one by one (like the battery, screen, etc) to rule out which part is defective.
Thank you for the extensive and really helpful video. I had some problems squeezing the plastic piece between the halves to open the case. Any special trick for that? And - unfortunately at my phone the volume button is damaged. It is between the outer and inner frame of the phone. Do you know any way to get in there without destroying everything? It is so nasty to lose a 800 Euro phone for a damaged 50 cent piece that cannot be accessed properly...
You're welcome. You can use a suction cup tool for smartphones to help you pull up and get leverage to insert your pry tool after you heat the back up. Once you take the back off, you will need to remove the motherboard giving you access to the flex cable for the buttons. Then you can gently pry it off from the frame (its held on with adhesive) and then the other end is inside the frame socket. It has a metal bracket holding it in which you can use a thin metal flat tool to pull it up and out. Once that flex assembly with clickers are removed (if that's what has gone bad you can replace that part at that point), you can either remove the physical buttons on the frame by pushing them inward or outward, not sure which way it is but you will be able to tell once you push slightly if it pops out or not.
Good evening friend, Can you help me? I updated Android 13 on my Zenfone8flip and the camera stopped flipping out of nowhere! Portrait mode has disappeared and the engine is making noises,... I would like to install STOCKROM Android 11 and do DOWGRADE but I don't know which tool to use.
I just ordered a Open Box Zenfone 8 Flip and the power button seems to be stuck. I have to press hard to trigger the power button. There is no click. Could there be something stuck in the power button ?
I have a question: To replace the damaged LCD, is it also necessary to replace the battery with a new one? I read in some articles that it was mandatory to change for a new one, because the mechanisms are interconnected. Is this information true? Can't reuse the battery?
Hi, no it is not necessary to replace the battery is your changing the screen. As long as you don't damage the battery when prying it off to replace the screen, you can reuse it. Just use some isopropyl alcohol and apply some to the sides of the battery and let it sit there for 30 seconds so it eats away at the adhesive under the battery making it easier to pry off.
@@PBKreviews I can't believe it! I sent my cell phone to an authorized Asus, SMS Infocomm and they charged me for replacing the battery, claiming that according to the structure of the Z8 FLIP, as the LCD was replaced, it was also necessary to replace the battery, as the mechanisms are interconnected. Holy shit!
@@guilhermesoliveira673 Probably because they only had display replacements with frame assemblies which came with the battery pre installed so it was a matter of them just taking the motherboard and other parts and moving it over from your assembly to the new one. Its a faster but more expensive process however its more clean since the screen is pre installed from the factory to the frame instead of a third party adhering the display to the frame.
@@PBKreviews Holy crap! I don't think it's fair to charge for the value of a new battery in this case, if only my LCD is not working, otherwise the phone is ok
@@guilhermesoliveira673 Hello Guilherme First of all thank you very much for this helpful video. (it's easy to change the LCD ?) Because we all know that the battery over time can be changed.
Hi, if you have replace the screen/fingerprint reader, make sure to backup your data and do a factory reset since sometimes it needs to be calibrated and requires factory reset for it to work. Also make sure all cables are properly attached.
I have the ZenFone 7 pro and I changed the battery on my own but unfortunately the one I ordered from eBay was only average (the 'accubattery' app from playstore detects its capacity is 82% from the original. My question: as I noticed the ZenFone 8 flip and the ZenFone 7 pro have the same structure and battery, even removing the 18 screws, lol. So you think it's save to order a battery for the ZenFone 8 flip to use on my ZenFone 7 pro? They seem to be the same in shape etc and same 5000 mAh capacity. Thanks
Are the glassbacks the same as Asus Zenfone 7?, thanks for brinning the 8 Flip but I'm looking forward to in the future put a "blue"(they call it black) Zenfone 7 back and I wonder if they share exactly the same design
Didn't want to dismantle the camera assembly because I didn't want to render the assembly useless. Plus its usually hard to find these camera assemblies to replace.
Could you please go into more detail about how to use a heat gun in order to remove the back cover? For example: what temperature to use, what areas to avoid heating if any
You can use a hair dryer which is safer since it provides a more evenly distributed heat. You can heat it up so its hot to the touch and can always apply more heat as needed while working on prying it off.
Can I replace the screen with Zenfone 7 pro screen replacement? Since they seem like there are no differences. Is 7pro screen compatible for 8 flip replacement?

Hello great video! After replacing the display, the fingerprint scanner no longer works for me. Anyone know what could be there? An original spare part was used.
Try backing up all your data and then doing a factory reset. Sometimes a factoy reset is required after installing a new fingerprint reader to register it.

Hi!
Are you gonna make the video for the small Zenfone 8 too?
Hello, Yes should have it up within the next few days.
My "flip" mechanism no longer flips. Would the average repair center be able to repair it, or would that require disassembling the camera housing?

It's possible the clicker of the power button has gone bad and needs a replacement power button flex cable to change it out.
