    We have had 2 SeaEagle 385ft for a month now and had them out on 5-6 different occasions both as solo and tandem. Very impressed with the ease of inflation, apparent durability and great tracking in the water. We are most impressed with the stability and roominess when we tandem in one kayak. I am 6'4" and my wife is 5'2" and with her in the front and me in the back, loads of leg room for me and practically impossible to tip over. We just keep them in the back of the pickup in case on a whim we decide to go paddle somewhere...no rack hassle or heavy lifting. They are a little pricey but it appears you get what you pay for and so far they are worth it.

    I love this video! I would also love to see one made for the fast track, which is the one I purchased. I choose the fast track over the explorer for its superior tracking but I always wondered just how much I gave up in durability.

    • @SeaEagleBoats
      @SeaEagleBoats  10 років тому

      Sheila you did great and you're thinking process is correct. Two different kayaks designed for different purposes and for superior track-ability you got it right! I can see that your FastTrack is a 2014 model. You'll also be happy to hear that the technology used for constructing both the FastTrack and Explorer is the same. 98% welded seams with a 2% glue finished with overlapping seams. In closing, you gave up absolutely nothing and gained exactly what you wanted. Great job!

    This video is the reason I bought my kayak. I have the exact same kayak in this video. These are awesome kayaks, and one of the if not the best outdoor gear purchases I’ve ever made. I rarely launch at an actual launch, pretty much always hiking down a crappy trail or launching where there is no trail. That was the big reason I went inflatable. Easier to transport and store. Rolled up it’s very easy to carry (around 40lbs) I’ve owned hard kayaks and they were not very stable, didn’t work with my dog and it was hard to fish from. This kayak is extremely stable, floor is rock hard when inflated well below the max pressure. Sitting in it I don’t think I could top it if I tried.

    The torture test video is terrific. But it contradicts my experience, unless my new, barely used SeaEagle had a structural flaw. I got it this spring. We inflated it on June 26 and carried it carefully to the lake, where 2 people took short spins. Then we carefully lifted it back out and carried it to rest safely on the arms of 2 plastic Adirondak chairs, fastened to a deck. On July 3 it had one more short spin, carried in and out of the lake, and was again fastened on the chairs. July 24, when we went to take it to the lake to be used, one side was quite deflated and soft. We inflated it, used it, and returned it to the chairs. The next day (today, July 25, overnight) it was deflated again. We don't see or hear any puncture--and according to the video we haven't put it to any test at all. What's going on and what should we do?

      I wonder if one or more valves wasn't completely sealed? Also if the temperature is very different between when it's inflated and deflated you can experience some "deflating" as the air inside compacts in the cold over night air and expands during the warmer afternoon air.

    • @SeaEagleBoats
      @SeaEagleBoats  Рік тому

      @@podcast.universe Historical cases. When reading reviews, one has to keep in mind the aim of the reviewers and their state of mind. What did the reviewer expect out of a product and what was the best available at that time? For years the latest technology available for most top-of-the-line inflatables was glued seams and all glue has a half-life/lifetime expectancy. As the years progressed so did the materials and manufacturing. Now we're at the point of around 98% welded seams, 2% superior glued finish (where the welder can't access), and double-overlapping-sandwiched seams. Pretty much light years ahead of where we were just a few years ago and with technology advancing at a rapidly increasing pace - who knows where we'll be in the future? Maybe the moon! When you buy directly from SeaEagle.com you'll receive the best customer service, your hulls are accompanied by a 3-Year Manufacturer's Warranty that can be extended to 6 years at the time of purchase, and you have a 120 Day Money Back Guarantee On The Water Trial Period, and that's all absolutely unheard of in the inflatable watercraft industry. With over 50 years in business, rest assured you're getting the best and we'll stand by you and our products within reasonable expectations. If you expect the best, that's what you're getting. How is the durability of the Razorlite 393? Can it handle sharp rocks in rivers? Is it the same durability as the 473rl? I already have a 393rl but haven't tried it in a river.
    I also saw that the 350fx has reinforced sections with 2,000 denier material. Is that in the floor or along the sides?
    I need something I can take down rivers with sharp rocks and also be able to paddle against the current. I need the most durable inflatable I can get that is still practical to transport.

    • @SeaEagleBoats
      @SeaEagleBoats  Рік тому

      The 393rl is just as robust as the 473rl. The 350fx has reinforced sides and floor. It'll be tough to find anything more robust than the 350fx on the market. Our advice with any inflatable is to steer clear of sharp and pointy objects.

    • @penalty5992
      @penalty5992 Рік тому

      @@SeaEagleBoats Thank you for your response. Sorry, I meant to ask if the Razorlite is just as durable as the Explorer pictured in the video. I know that the Razorlite is not rated for whitewater, but as far as being able to take a beating, is it able to stand up to the same abuse as the Explorer? I am concerned about what will happen if I ground out on shallow portions of a river.

    • @SeaEagleBoats
      @SeaEagleBoats  Рік тому

      @@penalty5992 The RazorLite is designed as a lightweight, high-performance kayak with rigid bow and stern molds that slice through the water. An inflatable kayak that performs like its rigid competitors.
      On the other hand, the Explorer Series is a totally different kayak. It's primarily designed for whitewater and more robust with 16 self-bailing drains compared to the RazorLite's 2 non-self-bailing drains. Also, note the 380x is 16 lbs. heavier than the 393rl.
      Comparing the two is like trying to compare apples to oranges. They are totally different and designed for different purposes. The RazorLite is made of all drop stitch material. The Explorer Series is not.
      While the RazorLite is pretty robust and duplicating the torture test would have some similar results. Some would be different.
      In summary, the Explorer Series is much more durable than the RazorLite Series as it's designed primarily for whitewater.

    Ok, that did it. If you can run over it with a Jeep and not pop a seam, I'm sold. Jeeps are not built with space age, lightweight materials. Steel, steel and more steel make for a porky vehicle. Now I have to choose a model of kayak that suits me.
    I had to sell the Jeep and my motorcycle because of health issues (spine). I don't have a large vehicle to haul a regular kayak and my health issues won't let me lift a hard shell kayak on a car top rack. Seaeagle may be the thing that gets me out of the house and back into the world. I can haul the Seaeagle to the water on a folding hand cart if necessary, then inflate it.
