Andy Robert’s was such a great bowler. If 1973 to 1978 Robert’s was playing today he’d be the finest fast bowler on the planet. In this 1976 series against England Robert’s has to be at his peak.

Just look at the reflexes of the English batsmen, (especially Brian Close!) with no helmet against these deadly quickies of 'Windies! Simply brave& courageous British soldiers!?!❤️🙏🏏🌹

I tell you theTv doesn't do justice to how quick Holding and Robert's wherein this test. And we sent Brian Close out to face this . Not just at Lords but Old Trafford. It's a miracle he survived.

@@neilsonlindsay2958 Brian Close must have been the bravest and most experienced of the available lot as no less a human could face the onslaught. A greater risk was taken by sending Colin Cowdrey against Thomson and Lillie as he wasn't as fit as Close appears in this innings.

they had a better team once Marshall became the main bowler and Haynes was established as the opener. between 1980 to 1990 they were invincible. Started to decline slightly in the early 90s although it was 95 before they lost a series since in infamous NZ tour in 1980

I wonder what the combined age of that England team was? I would guess around 350 for the 11 players. I know players looked older back then, but it must have been one of the oldest England sides ever.

Good job the 38 year old John edrich who celebrated his 39th birthday on the last day of this game wasnt playing. Ironically this was probably the final year by and large the youngsters werent given a chance as a first resort
