I thought it was cool when Gabby learned to use a staff but the sais were the best. Her character really came into being more than Xena, which is NOT to say Xena didn't grow, but she was already a fighter warrior so it came easy to her. But then Gabby learned everything from Xena so, I might be just whistling Dixie! Many thanks for the upload!
Some of Renee's best work in season 5 could have included Fallen Angel, Them Bones Them Bones and Anthony and Cleopatra. Gabrielle and Brutus' fight was a good one!

legit the best parts of season 5 involved Gabrielle and Ares! prove me wrong, you can't. I still wish that, once again, they hadn't cut some of their scenes *S I G H* I think I'll always prefer Gabs with her battle staff though, cuz technically, you can still kill someone with that too. but she really did start to come into her own after season 3 and I was always there for that. yes, her relationship with Xena was the most important in her life but she didn't let her entire identity be based on Xena and I appreciated that

Gabrielle is upset cause she couldn't save Ely. So Ares takes advantage of the situation and tries to convince her to join him since Xena would never leave her. So to convince her he says he can give her divine powers so she will be powerfull enough to help those she loves. In this scene he´s showing her a little of what it's like to be a god.
