Chat/Comment Guidelines:

The Rules:
1: The timer starts when walking away from Professor Elm after receiving the starter Pokémon.
2: Only the Challenge Pokémon may participate in battle.
3: No items in battle, except Balls from the bag.
4: No evasion-increasing TMs, and no Rest and Sleep Talk TMs until every other option has been exhausted.
5: No intentional uses of glitches or exploits, except the Teleport glitch after the SS Aqua.
6: No Rare Candies until facing Red. Rare Candies will be used in a 3-3-4 pattern.
7: Timer may be paused for breaks in recording, but no inputs may be made when the timer is paused.
8: Save states are permitted in the overworld, but no save states may be used mid-battle.
9: If the challenge Pokémon faints, the previous save state must be reloaded and progress regained.

I am totally new to the game, i beat it but need answers regarding the issue of getting these pokemons...How are you supposed to get him? By trading with gameboy and pokemon red and blue? I heard this is possible, but like you got it hatch from a starter egg and stuff... A bit more info would be appreciated really
Do you think with a couple of changes Charizard could beat Kangaskhan? How would the run be if you used hidden power electric and just used return on the dragons?? Red was the issue for this run.

I'm surprised zard did better than typhlosion. I guess thunderpunch wasn't enough. Guess that immunity to ground type is what helped.

Of the gen 1 starters IMHO Bulbasaur is still the best one despite that grass types at the start of Gen 2 kind of suck not just Chikorita but Chikorita SUCKS for the entire game Bulbasaur would not as long as you can sleep Powder Milktank too bad you fight Whitney around a average lv of 20 or so and Bulbasaur needs like DOUBLE that to even put it to sleep.

Amazing video squidgy! Now that zards run is complete, it's time for the BEST!!! Gen 1 starter to try and crack the top ten. Bulbasaur was the first Pokemon i chose when i started my journey back in 2000! Keep it up squidgy

In competitive Typhlosion is probably better than Charizard if we discount alternate forms, but I fully saw that coming. Charizard has a better movepool and the Flying type is more of a good than a bad in this game, you really don't fight many strong rock types to worry about and the only real Electric Pokemon you have to worry about is Magnamite, which get one shot, and Pikachu who is a Pikachu. So really Charizard just gets Flying STAB for a few fights like Chuck.
Charizard did sooooo great. Excellent run! I thought we might get a super surprising new #1 there for a while, but #2 is still crazy. The gap between it and Typolusion is the biggest surprise, though.
I tried my hardest to get 'zard to top spot, but he just couldn't quite do it this time!
I love Charizard so much. After Pikachu, it's the most iconic starter, and it was my favorite starter. 🧡🧡🧡🔥🔥🔥
I think charizard could of beating kangaskhan if you would of just given him the rare candies at the beginning instead of just leveling him up to 68 🤔

After Venusaur, could you do a run with Raichu or Pikachu? Just that way you are completing all of the technical gen 1 starters due to yellow's existance.
It would have to be Pichu due to the rule of starting with the lowest evolution. There was a Pichu run at some point and it didn’t evolve into Pikachu until Clair 😐

I just had to drop another comment. My kids love this video. Their favorite Pokémon is Charizard of course.
I also just wanted to mention that I have been watching your videos in a big playlist, with some of them being months old or longer. You have significantly improved your runs. That is not a critic of you either. I just find it so fascinating to see the improvement - watching say 1 year old videos to now.
I think Charizard doing this well and especially with how well your Sneasal run went the other day, that is the "proof in the pudding". Hope things are going well, and we look forward to the next video.

The rival (???) has been taking lessons from Lance. In the 2nd rival battle (Azalea Town) he has an unleveled Croconaw. Totodile evolves at Level 18.
That being said that's not the only underleveled Pokémon in Johto
1) Faulkner's Pidgeotto
2) Monty's Haunters, both of them
3) Pryce's Dewgong and Piloswine.

Magnemite/ton got a respectable time in the end, but Togepi's absolutely awful! Probably 3ish hours for that run!
I could've sworn there's another Rival fight right as you enter the hallway to challenge the Elite 4. I wanna say it was a day of the week thing...?
I'm not 100% sure in Crystal, but I'm fairly certain that's the case in HGSS!

The Zardo racing through the Johto
Sand-Attack is a Ground-type (formerly Normal-type) but Charizard is part Flying-type so I guess the game put "It Failed" because Flying is immune to Ground. Jokes on that, Karen and her Umbreon.
In Gen 2, there's a 25% chance for status moves like Sand-Attack to instantly fail when used by the AI, it was just a lucky coincidence that it happened against a Flying type! :D
@@Squidgy Wasn't there a similar situation with Flying-type and Dig? I don't remember which Gen it was specifically (either Gen I or II or even III), but if you use Dig on a Flying Pokémon, it would just say "Attack Missed" instead of "It doesn't affect..."

Why do you think gen 1 starters are performing so mich betet?
I think the routing has become a lot more efficient since doing the Crystal starters, and when you combine it with the Gen I starters having slightly better learnsets, there's barely any competition between the two sets.
Fantastic!! Can’t wait to see his Venus does. I was curious, you use the randomizer to give yourself whatever Pokémon you want to use. Is there a reason you don’t give yourself the final evolution? (Aside from making it much easier)
I did a mini-series where I did the final evolutions, and it just isn't as fun!
I find it to be a much more authentic experience to start with the lowest stage of an evolutionary line - as if that Pokémon was your actual starter given by Professor Elm and you were running the game for the first time
Right!! You can also can control level up if you want to learn a move faster which I didn’t think of until just now

Why not use the randomizer to give you a Charizard from the start?
A lot of channels run the fully-evolved from the start.
I like running as if the Pokémon was my actual starter given from Professor Elm. I think it's the fairest way to get an accurate look at the Pokémon.

Phenomenal. I actually did not think Charizard would make the top 3, because of the fighting and rock types. And on top of that, he also had fewer resets than Blastoise. Nice, well job.

It's impressive how much faster these runs get. Girafarig used to be leader early on and now it's close to ending up in page 2. I think a contender for the slowest time could be Noctowl given the atrocious movepool it gets and stats and Scizor too.
I think Jumpluff will be the worst haha
@@Phil-S8 Oh you might be right. Saw the movepool and stats and it's so awful. He's gonna have a hard time vs Lance if he's not running HP Ice but then vs Red what moves do you use vs Charizard. HP Water would be the best move unless you cheese it out with like Leech Seed, Attract, Synthesis and Giga Drain.
@@kotomi758 Ya I was thinking about this a little since I made that comment, but Ditto and Shuckle could also be candidates. TBH Ditto will probably be impossible lol. Shuckle will be really interesting actually
Jumpluff will be around 2:30:00, I reckon! I did a bit of testing with it, and with the right learnset, it's not as awful as you'd expect. Draining moves keep it from fainting too often!
@@Phil-S8 Shuckle will be a struggle until (Defense Curl) Rollout. Then I think it will do decent
