Hi Dr. Do you treat an adult patient who has the mandible backward positioned? Basically is it possible to treat without surgery? Thank you
Yes reverse lower jaw position can be treated with appliances. And without surgery.
@@SereneOrthodontics Can I ask what is the name of appliance? Thank you
@@abdm3117 Really any appliance with a biting area built into the appliance. The way it is done, is to shape the biting area so the lower teeth fit in a comfortable forward biting position. It is about controlling the position where the lower jaw rests. Common appliances that can have this feature are the Schwarz for kid and the DNA appliance for adults. The skill of the dentist is probably more important than the actual appliance. Establishing this bite position is not always easy. Another appliance that will work well is the "Twin Block appliance"
