Working from home for the last six months I have gone through several phases of what to listen to.. I listen on a good stereo 2.1 setup in my study... Headphones are cool but for all day m-f listening I much prefer no headphones. Classical has been my go to for the last while.. it is so soothing and helps me stay happy and focused. My cats even seem more mellow and just nap right next to me every day now. This selection is really one of the most beautiful I have heard so far.

Everybody is different in liking music and specifically its interpretation. Take the piece La Cathedrale Engloutie by Debussy . All the great pianists played it but so far only Anasthasia Huppmann could present the fantastic sounds; that is my opinion. Musicality is different also. My dear mother could not sing a melody; my dear father could tell you when listening in the radio a symphony played whether it was played by the Berlin or Vienna philharmonic orchestra because the Vianna philharmonic orchestra uses the basic note a which is slightly higher. And may I ask the forbidden question why we do like music, what does music achieve in us. The answer is above our tiny western consciousness and you have to study Indian spiritual concepts to understand the question. Late August Everding had a fine correct feeling when he remarked that Mozart had copied all his music from heaven. I miss here in the beginning the Air by Bach, BMV 1068 and his organ piece Toccata and Fugue BMV 565. And more wonderful are arias, as the aria by Pamina in The Magic Fluet: Ach ich fühl’s, sung by Genia Kühmeier. The human voice is by far superior to the sound of the piano. The Chaconne by Bach, BMV 1004 is missing also. This piece is technically not playable as once Mendessohn remarked. But Stern, Heifetz, Perlman, Milstein could play it. (forget all the others who tried but did not succeed).

You meant symphonic music, right? Wrong about societal classes: the biggest group of classical music listeners are intellectuals, not high society. That group takes money from intellectuals and generously give it to arts, music included.

I promised dad to get high honors but it's hard so I tried listening to these kind of music witch they say it can increase brain power I'm wishing I would get high honors in grade 6 or it might be highest
I have been listening to this collection for over a year now and it’s my go to when I have exams that rely on memory a lot ,it really good stuff gonna mention you when I graduate 😂
FYI some of these recordings have a low level HUM which makes my subwoofer go nuts and it's a very uncomfortable penetrating sound. 01:09:49 Sonata II In Sol Magg is one example. I do love the selection of music here but I have to skip by tracks with that hum in them.
