- Stepper motors are good solutions for applications with low speed, low acceleration, and low accuracy requirements. Stepper motors also tend to be compact and inexpensive. Servo motors are a better choice for systems requiring high speed, high acceleration, and high accuracy. Servo motors are commonly used in industrial applications including robotics, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, food services, CNC machinery, automated manufacturing, and more.

Whatre you doing step motor?
The system accuracy comes down to the encoder ppr. And if both motors have closed loop systems with the same encoder feedback the accuracy will be almost identical.
A servo without an encoder is nothing, a stepper without an encoder is still pretty accurate.
She said the stepper is not closed loop, no encoder. The server is closed loop with an encoder. What are you suggesting with both systems accuracy depends on the encoder used, both closed loop?

@@moh19931000 Complete nonsense. Steppers have perfect accuracy. They align poles exactly.
The problem with a stepper is it is only as accurate as each step pole to pole. you can reduce gearing to increase resolution, but you are still stuck with jittery movement. Some controllers are capable of half stepping, but this can make the motor even more inaccurate.
A servo motor on the other hand is as accurate as your sensor setup. With solid state devices or even those angular momentum sensors, they can be quite accurate, at the same time moving very fast. Without the stepper motion, you don't have to worry about jitter or "ring". That is a kind of electrical resonance that can happen. The faster it moves, the worse it gets. So much so, you will have to build a circuit in to combat that ringing and a wait time to allow the motor to "settle" after moving making work time even longer.
why are step motors used for 3D printers if they have low accuracy?
Not much weight carried in its axis and low speed compared to more industrial machinery

moh neeeee! industrial machines use servos because it's worth the extra cost, but for consumer goods cheap is good, printers use brushed DC motors with encoder strips because it's even cheaper than steppers, i requested a price qoute on a plotter cutter, servos added 25% cost over steppers, for a business it's worth it, but for my consumer ass it was not
