I used to be Marty's neighbor when he was a teen. I would be wake up to the sounds of this slide guitar and old soul on a Sunday morning, floating into my window from his poolside location and all was right with the world. Thank you Marty for sharing your art
Having grown up in Arcata, CA for 6 years before moving to Maui while My father moved to Nevada, I played in this park from ages 2-6 before my father (musician) and mother (midwife) broke apart. I found this band just before reuniting with the love of my life ( who found this band while we were on a break) , I cannot wait to see them play in Arcata again. Asa Psych/music student currently applying to PhD. programs, I'm so fucking grateful for the music exuded from these old souls, and of course their Marty O'Reilly.
About 7 years ago I was staying in a hostel in Santa Teresa and this babe from Santa Cruz was playing this song in the kitchen cooking breakfast.. I came in and asked her what song is this?? I’ll never forget those ppl I met and this song will always take me back to that time in life!
Amazing song. I've listened to this so many times.. Whoever filmed this should be very proud of themselves as well. Some of the best film work that can happen in an environment like this. Absolutely gorgeous. Thank ya'll for the time!
Chuck... I can't stop watching this video... the production, THE SOUND... it's just so well done. And I love the tune. And you guys have been such great pals helping me out. You, Chad, Jeff... thanks.
I have watched this video so many times! Thank you Kendra for sharing and thank you guys for the beautiful music! I'm showing this to all my friends here in Copenhagen :)
Derek Braid That view he watched a small stick fall from the trees, onto my head, then to the ground as I was filming. It was magical to take it all in.
I think it involves him getting over his old life. He grew up religious and in a controlling enviornmemt. He finally decided to burry his old life and leave his upbringing, which caused a ton of pain. In the process of letting go he feels as though a part of him died, and that's still sad no matter how bad or f***ed up it was. So basically a song about overcoming your past but how hard it is to do that and how painful it can be. That's my thought...
