cocoa8194 I feel ya 100%. Nas has definitely inspired and motivated me countless times with his depth, uncompromising commitment to his art, and ability to narrate incredible stories. He's a gift to the culture.
What's ill is how most of his music has aged incredibly well. The Street's Disciple album, for instance, sounds so much better now than it did in '04. The Untitled album was 10 years ahead of its time when you look at its content.
Israel Rosario Jr. bruh I was just listening to Streets disciple yesterday thinking the same shit. Like “damn I always thought this was was pretty good....but this shit is 🔥🔥🔥 right now”. Suicide Bounce, Streets Disciple, Sekou Story, Live Now, Nazareth Savage, War, Just A Moment, Thief’s Theme, Rest of My Life, we’re all bangers. Then there’s songs like Getting Married, Remember The Times, Bridging The Gap, and Reason which were somber but enjoyable. Underrated album by his community, though professional critics were more favorable to it than his fans.
@@SageofSorrow 100% cosign. I never thought it was a poor album. I think Nas was just in a stage where he had put out alot of work in a short period of time (Stillmatic, Lost Tapes, God's Son over a 3 yr period) so a double album was probably overkill within that 3-4 year run. But I always thought even back then that it would've been considered a classic had he dialed it down to the best 14-15 songs and arranged them more cohesively. But after listening to it again a couple of months ago, I was like nah, this album was dope just the way he did it. Nas albums are a journey and he was just taking you on one of his longer ones. That album sounds better or as good now as anything that's come out the last 10 years at least IMO. And you should give Untitled a spin too...thats another album that was completely ahead of its time and is fire.
Israel Rosario Jr. yup, and that’s not taking into account the cut content that surely would have made it a classic. Talk of New York, Serious Ft. AZ, Good Morning, Foul Breeze would have made it an epic album.
