Another amazing display of great technique. People don’t realize how much work goes into alterations. It’s not just “cut it here and sew them back together”. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you, and you're right....there's a bit of detail that goes into a quality alteration. Sometimes there are shortcuts that would look just fine, but sometimes it just has to be done the long way! Thanks so much for watching
Thank you! I paid to have this alteration done on my mother of the groom dress. I am going to try it myself on an inexpensive thrifted dress as i frequently need this done on purchased dresses.
What a great idea to use a thrifted dress as practice :) I hope this video will help you in this alteration. Thanks for the idea and for leaving a comment.
So interesting. I could do that now. Thank you!
Great!!!! I hope you can :). Thanks for watching!
Really impressed with how professional and patient you are with your work. A pleasure to watch. You make it seem doable too. Thanks. ❤❤
Thank you so
Much for your kind comment! ❤️
@SewDarnedFun you are most welcome. I watched out the entire thing and was in awe. You really inspired me ❤.
That’s so wonderful to hear!!!! What kinds of projects are you most likely to work on???
@@SewDarnedFunI do sewing for my girls, mostly tops and dresses. Honestly after seeing the care and high standard you did that alteration with, I think I'll leave repairs to the experts like you. ❤ I don't have that level of patience. 😂 But it was so delightful to watch that I subscribed. 😍
When my daughters were little (all grown up now) I did TONS of sewing for them! I’ve learned so much along the way, but I enjoyed making them special things to wear. One daughter recently told me that she saved EVERY DRESS and costume that made her 🥰 That’s how much it meant. I honestly had no idea. So, have fun sewing for your girls!!!! What a wonderful skill to be able to lovingly use for them 💕
Now I can see😃
Oh good!! Whew! ;)
Your page is so helpful!
I'm so glad! Thanks for your comments!
Wow! Thanks for sharing.❤
You are so welcome!
Q:Do you have a video on making the armskye smaller without changing the bust point? And making the shoulders narrower? Or to add bust room to a top. I have a large bust G cup, so if a top fits my bust its too big everywhere else or if it fits the armskye and shoulders it's too small in the bust.
It's a frustrating dilema when designers assume that a larger bust cup means that the shoulders must be graded out (rolling my eyes!) You might find some doable solutions in many steps. If the neckline/shoulders are too wide, could that single issue be taken care of by taking in darts around the neckedge (either in seamlines, nter front and back, or added darts)? The problem with making and armscye smaller is that fabric has to come out of somewhere, as we can't add fabric under the sleeve hole to make it smaller. If it is possible to dart around the armhole, and hide those darts, either in style lines, or under decorations, that might help with that. I HAVE seen a bust dart as well as a princess seam in the same garment in ready to wear before. So that can indeed be done. Certainly if I have this issue come into my studio, I will make a video on it. Sorry that I don't currently have a video of this particular alteration in my video collection. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Happy Sewing!!!!
Please help!! I’m in Rochester and need help with my collection for roc fashion week. I tried calling you 😢
@ChelseaLove ....I have a sneaking suspicion that you are in the other 'Rochester' (New York, that is) ;) My location is far across the county, I'm sorry to say. Do you have a specific question that I can address??
@@SewDarnedFun Yes I’m in NY :( Aw okay I’ll figure something out thanks
I wish you good luck with your collection! Thanks for reaching out :)
