I like how instead of giving each ost a different name, they use flower names to differentiate the versions of the osts which is really clever since they are Basil's theme
Tulip: The happiest of the four, honestly sounds like headspace Basil's personality Empty: Sounds almost guiltier then any of the other Home For Flowers tracks. It's also very, well, empty-sounding Daisy: This one sounds like Sunny is reminiscing on the good times while also realizing that he has to face the Truth at some point Sunflower: This one is sad-happy, as if Sunny is both experiencing joy at reliving this memory and also sad that he'll never be able to go back to when it was happening ever again
i sometimes go back to the empty house to check on anything new ive gotten and amplify my strategy just because i like it so much ive done that to the point where empty seems like the most normal one im pretty sure you can guess how broken i was when they started forgetting
Everyday I come back to this comment always thinking to myself about the difference of each track, it's so peaceful yet also at the same time a bit sad almost like as if you're missing someone or somebody that left for a trip far far away in the distance wondering when will they come back and return home with you in bed watching the night sky underneath the moon and stars
Also love how Sunflower, the last one that plays in the game, fades out different from the other three. It's as if to give closure and finally accept the truth, and the changes in life ahead of them. The tune sounds a bit darker and more somber, but it still has reluctant hope. Very nice details :>
damn, i keep trying to use omori songs to study but i quickly see myself staring at letters with a mixture of joy and sadness that i cant even describe, they sound so perfect for this, yet its just impossible to not let the memories overflow...
- the "tulip" Basil is a Sunny's ideal version of his childhood friend - gentle, cheerful and most importantly convinient (as long as he never finds the truth) - "empty" is Sunny missing his best friend. The existance of headspace Basil is hurting him but the dream without him is not a dream at all - "daisy" is acceptance of truth and regret of the days that were dear to them - "sunflower" Basil is the real one and Sunny finally accepts him. His friend is broken but he still wants to hope for the better future and face towards the sun
Tulip - Prologue (Basil is still with you) Empty - Development (Basil is missing) Daisy - Recollection (Discovering the truth) Sunflower - Reminiscence (Remembering memories)
There's a flower language, you know, there's western and eastern languages. Each of the flowers in the song versions mean love, adoration, faith, trust, innocence, one-sided love and so on, in both languages. They do represent Basil as he is, perfectly. When dream Basil goes missing and you understand what happened.... You realize that he also lost all of that. The one odd one out of all the song versions, after all, is "Empty".
You're missing one crucial one. Tulips do mean true love and adoration... but white tulips, in particular, carry another meaning. White tulips represent forgiveness. And it's the one Basil assigns to Omori.
"The tulip flower can be seen as a sign of renewal and it can be used to send a very good message to those who we love and adore. The tulip flowers can help to bring a sense of hope and encouragement to families that have loved someone very important to them and it can help to quench their bleeding soul. This flower will help to remove every heavy burden that is on them and it will help to give them a chance for what lies ahead of them."
Everyone giving all the other ones love but sunflower is the best tbh. Perfectly represents the feeling of a lost friendship and forgotten or also lost memories. It sounds so empty and has the “lost at a sleepover” leitmotif, showing that that is how life was supposed to be, not like how it went.
SPOILERS What if the shoe that Basil's lives in within the Dream World represents the fact that he was in someone's shoes which we can guess that it could be an idiom/metaphor of being afflicted into someone's life.
I love all the versions, but for me, The first one is pretty underrated in the depression department, not because the song itself is inherently sad by itself, and it certainly is not sad when you listen to it the first time, but after you finish the game and listen to it a second time, you can't help but feel uneasy knowing the unfortunate reality of Sunny's world, his friends and what is to eventually come.
Funny how Sunflower's the most depressive-sounding, while it's name directly refers to Basil and the flower he picked to describe himself with, and it plays during his birthday.
Doing a hikikomori run right now and I honestly am kinda sad that Basil probably is/is going to be dead IRL and I can't really do anything to save him in the "real world"... So now I am listening to this and bawling my eyes out.
SPOILERS WARNING. SCROLL DOWN IF YOU'RE STILL PLAYING. My interpretation to what each version means. Kinda rushed so it might not make a lot of sense so cut me some slack. Tulip: This first version sounds almost childlike and innocent, like how everyone was before Mari died. Feels almost nostalgic, too. Empty: The song name fits. It definitely gives off an empty place kind of vibe. But more importantly I think it portrays the feeling of losing a loved one really well. The saddest-sounding version, in my opinion. Feels like Basil both grieving for Mari, while also being incredibly guilty. Daisy: Daisy feels like something went wrong, but is slowly piecing itself together again. Like it’s going back to the way it was. Which is exactly what Basil wished for. Still has a tinge of sadness to it, but also gives me the impression that things are changing for the better for him. Sunflower: The second saddest-sounding version of this song. Though instead of sadness due to a broken friend group and guilt, it feels as though Basil is regretting never spending time with the others. It feels as though he’s guilty of closing himself off. And now his best friend was leaving. He's felt sad and burdened by his grief and guilt. It makes me so sad lmao. And that's it. Hope you made it this far for whatever reason XD.
That’s exactly what they all feel like! Especially the DAISY one. SPOILER WARNING AGAIN When sunny finds out the truth, a memory of basil talks to him. He says “the truth of that day will be hard to accept. When you see it, you’ll have to keep going. and if you can…please forgive me.” or something along those lines. It’s heartbreaking because that represents exactly what Basil feels. He wants to go back. Great I’m crying now
my favorite is wood anemone! they remind me of when i was child, me and my sibling used to play in a little valley that was full of wood anemone. i hope spring comes soon so i can see them again!
What I really like about watching Omori ost is not just the music, but all these comments talking about how the track feels because damn reading all of them makes me SAD
for some reason its just these songs that make my cry. especially sunflower. it reminds me of bright colors and old friends. i miss my 4th grade friends.

To be fair each version has something different to offer, and this is one of the only songs to have more than one version. With good reason, too; it's one of the more significant and emotional song, and is memorable.
This is my interpretation of each version. The tulip version has an upbeat tune to it yet sounds innocent, and childlike. A slight feeling of warmth and a fleeting emotion of happiness. The empty version somehow doesn't feel empty but a feeling of something lacking or seeking something. The daisy version gives hope and determination. A constant assurance that will tell you everything will be fine. The sunflower version is like a moment of reminiscing something with a speck emotion of sadness. Generally, the song sounds lonely but like you wanted to be alone for a reason. Each version has the same melody but they have a variation. That's why I feel different emotions while listening to different variations of the song.
I don't know if so sensitive to the point where certain soundtracks remind me of the past and make me want to cry or if this thing really has some magic to touch us...
Just my theory, but I think these songs change based on Basil's feelings. Tulips remind Basil of Omori so it sounds more bubbly and innocent, while Sunflowers are what Basil associates himself with, so this variant sounds more sorrowful and reminiscing. Not sure about Daisies, and the empty variant is a little more self-explanatory.
@@175strawberries I think you're spot on! (SPOILERS BELOW) The only point in the game where a daisy distinctly shows up is in Black Space, in the rainy room. That is the room where Stranger/(Basil's real thoughts?) gives some of the most straightforward and sentimental dialogue to Sunny. He pretty much lays out on a platter how he misses the connection the two used to have, and is reaching out one last time before he truly gives up. "I miss you Sunny. You were always someone I could depend on to listen. My problems, my hopes, my dreams... you knew them all. So if you're still there, please let my words reach you one more time." When you pick up the key in that room, a "single, white daisy," is shown sticking out of the ground in a patch of green grass, even though the rest of the landscape is withered, brown, and dead. Edit: Additionally, and with a darker edge to the same meaning, the only way for the cast to repair themselves and their friendships is through confronting the truth, having everything out on the table, and moving forward from there. That way, they regain their "innocence and purity." That could be why the "Daisy" version plays in "Basil's Meadow," the final zone/respite before confronting the Truth. The only way for things to be better is for Sunny to overcome his memories, and force past the false innocence of Headspace in favor of the true nature of reality.
@@supremeoverlord0 I’ve also seen someone say that basil actually compares himself to a daisy, not a sunflower, while the sunflower represents him with what he *wants* to become, someone who always sees the bright side of things. Also, sunflower plays at basils birthday (memory) so it could also point towards the fact he was much more positive before than now. But I really like your take on it as well :)
I've also read on Google that daisies are given to parents whose children died young. This would make sense considering that the daisy variant plays right before the truth sequence
I feel safe with the empty version, because that's the real basil background music, I know that he isn't an imaginative version of him. Tulip just gives me a sense of false happiness after learning the truth
Daisy is my favorite. When I listen to this song, I feel peace, the warmth of sunlight filtering through the trees, and at the same time, a little bit of anxiety. Just like Omori and Basil.

one thing I find interesting is the use of "daisy" in the third track name, while we all know that tulips represent Sunny, and sunflowers represent, daisies seem to have a great importance to the story but are never really given an explicit meaning like the others. Daisies in flower language represent innocence, purity, true love, and when given as a gift mean that the sender is able to keep a secret. Perhaps, while the sunflower represents the ideal Basil strives for, the daisy is representative of his true self.
I just realize as I watch the butterfly roam through the inaccessible area and I think the reason is because it was copied from an enemy and just had their sprite slapped on.
ok so i love this ost so much but i gotta add something that i see nobody talking about this kinda contains a little bit of spoilers, not much, but if u dont wanna read spoilers u can skip to another comment so yk how basil's house in the dream-world is a shoe? pretty weird detail, some might say but im 99.9% sure in some fairytale there was a shoe house.. ok ok nothing strange at all but it was in a book, again, nothing strange. the dream-world was created by sunny to cope with the stuff going on in the real world, so sunny took what everybody was like and his impressions and thus created yk the characters what not, and little details from the dream-world. in basil's photo album, theres basil reading a book to sunny, pretty normal, right? again, the dream-world is created off of sunny's impressions, that book could possibly be the fairytale i mentioned earlier, and thus formed basil's house in the dream-world. yeah, ik this comment is pointless but the possibilities.. cmon like seriously and if the creators of omori added this detail because they wanted to and i sound stupid then sorry- idk this was interesting for me and i just found it out byeee have a good day/night, remember to drink water
I only just noticed how each differently named song based off Basil’s theme being about the other members of the gang symbolizes that a majority of Basil’s personality goes towards being there for other people.
SPOILERS: I think the reason basil's dreamworld house is a shoe is because when sunny committed the accident and subsequent creation of something, he only looked at the ground, and since basil was beside him, he would see his shoes a lot
im a little confused, basil says tulips are kinda like omori, yet the tulip version is the most bubbly and cheerful. omori is a quiet protag, a pessimistic smartass shown from foe facts, his personality is nothing like the music is this basils interpretation of omori? or his feelings?
i think its because of how basil perceives omori/sunny. sunny was his best friend and someone he could always depend on to tell his hopes, dreams and fears. sunny imagines all of his friends in his dream world still being kids and basil and sunny were probably the closest friends apart from mari and hero until the accident. but since sunny controls headspace he doesn't let any of the bad memories bleed through which is why when basil finds the broken violin picture omori deletes him from the dreamworld and then makes his friends forget about him. poor basil
All of these appear in the Sunny route. Tulip plays when you go to Basil’s house in the prologue. Empty plays when you go to Basil’s house in the real world for the first time. Daisy plays in the tree yard area before you remember the truth. Sunflower plays during a flashback in Memory Lane.
The tulip song plays when you visit basil's house for the first time, the Empty song plays when you visit basil's house when he's missing, the daisy song plays when you start to find out the truth and basil asks you to forgive him, and the sunflower song plays when you look at one of basil's memories.

so yk how basil's house in the dream-world is a shoe? pretty weird detail, some might say but im 99.9% sure in some fairytale there was a shoe house.. ok ok nothing strange at all but it was in a book, again, nothing strange. the dream-world was created by sunny to cope with the stuff going on in the real world, so sunny took what everybody was like and his impressions and thus created yk the characters what not, and little details from the dream-world. in basil's photo album, theres basil reading a book to sunny, pretty normal, right? again, the dream-world is created off of sunny's impressions, that book could possibly be the fairytale i mentioned earlier, and thus formed basil's house in the dream-world.
yeah, ik this comment is pointless but the possibilities.. cmon like seriously and if the creators of omori added this detail because they wanted to and i sound stupid then sorry- idk this was interesting for me and i just found it out
byeee have a good day/night, remember to drink water
this actually makes so much sense, I hadn't thought about that
This track plays the best during the empty version
I love basil more than some family members
How did you forget Bookcase
Also does anyone notice that the path to Basil's house as well as the island itself... kind of looks like a tree?
The sunflower one is REALLY good
I only just noticed how each differently named song based off Basil’s theme being about the other members of the gang symbolizes that a majority of Basil’s personality goes towards being there for other people.
The empty one echoes
I miss omori
SPOILERS:
I think the reason basil's dreamworld house is a shoe is because when sunny committed the accident and subsequent creation of something, he only looked at the ground, and since basil was beside him, he would see his shoes a lot
This make me cry for Basil
It’s in the admin for 26/6/2021 when fxurnor comes
4:54 around this time, the theme for Neighbor’s room starts playing.
hammers hit hard
*But the therapy bill hits harder*

I needed this
damn when will someone mix these all together, like mixing all the poem songs in ddlc
I'm torn between Empty and Daisy for my favourite version.
Daisy is my favorite
this is gonna make me break the fuck down
Anyone remember where the Empty and Daisy versions of the song plays?
empty plays in basils house in the real world i think
daisy plays
around dream world basils house after it starts falling apart
@@danielisfaraway daisy also plays
At Basils wish tree I think
haha i love this i wish i had friends
I think a home for flowers-tulip is the best ost in basil's... ost's?
try not to feel heartache while listening to omori osts challenge (impossible)
Bouquet
Why does Basil live in a shoe?
Idk ask Sunny
im a little confused, basil says tulips are kinda like omori, yet the tulip version is the most bubbly and cheerful. omori is a quiet protag, a pessimistic smartass shown from foe facts, his personality is nothing like the music
is this basils interpretation of omori? or his feelings?
Yes it’s him in the past I guess? Or what he wants him to be
i think its because of how basil perceives omori/sunny. sunny was his best friend and someone he could always depend on to tell his hopes, dreams and fears. sunny imagines all of his friends in his dream world still being kids and basil and sunny were probably the closest friends apart from mari and hero until the accident. but since sunny controls headspace he doesn't let any of the bad memories bleed through which is why when basil finds the broken violin picture omori deletes him from the dreamworld and then makes his friends forget about him.
poor basil
Its weird to know empty isnt the most empty one.
gg
Olá seu cabeçudi
Yeah the 4 versions of the song are great but why basim live in a shoe lmao
😢
i still didn't understand where the different versions appear in-game, is there something to do with the omori route?
All of these appear in the Sunny route.
Tulip plays when you go to Basil’s house in the prologue.
Empty plays when you go to Basil’s house in the real world for the first time.
Daisy plays in the tree yard area before you remember the truth.
Sunflower plays during a flashback in Memory Lane.
hi
hello
hey
how do I loop videos on mobile
yes
@@mavericktrevor9708 ok
you can now
when do these songs play?
The tulip song plays when you visit basil's house for the first time, the Empty song plays when you visit basil's house when he's missing, the daisy song plays when you start to find out the truth and basil asks you to forgive him, and the sunflower song plays when you look at one of basil's memories.
