My lifesaver during those boring grocery trips, shopping malls, long drives, weekends, Christmas. Man I would do anything to go back. I used to love this game. Even found some hacks to duplicate the items and lvl up my Pokémon to max lol. Not just a game to me, it's my childhood.
At 2:02:46, we can see the most beautiful Raichu sprite ever done, to date. No other pokémon game generation has such a beautiful Raichu's sprite (not even the later ones). It's a real pity, though, that Lt. Surge had only this Raichu as his sole pokémon, for his leader battle. Developers should've let him have more electric pokémon, like Magneton, Electrode and Electabuzz, in order to be a greater challenge.

Nostalgia is slapping me in the face right about now. This video has dredged up some long forgotten memories of how obessesed I was with Pokémon Gameboy games in my childhood. I would spend hours (much to the annoyance of my mother) playing this and other Pokémon games.
The first one I ever really played, I remember being too stupidas a kid to not know that the anime and games were operating on different rules. My go to strategy for getting past Brock was to get a Butterfree since that's what Ash had. Of course that always ended up working out well for me since psychic moves were broken in those days. Now that I'm older I can properly plan things out and I know how to use Pikachu to make him shine.
i just recently bought the childhood gameboy i had and pokemon yellow. i remember my grandma coming home with a pokemon edition gameboy color that came with pokemon yellow sometime from 1999-2003. eventually im sure it got traded to gamestop for the next gameboy or somethin. im just so glad to be able to play with the exact gameboy color and pokemon yellow again🙂.

Literally my very first ever Pokémon game when I was nine years old (1999.) I had no idea about most of the controls and mechanics. English being my second language didn't help much too either. I remember I was stuck in my first Gym battle with Brock and couldn't get passed him. I had metapod using harden till it faints and my Pikachu's attacks don't work for reasons I didn't know that time. I let my classmate play it for me. He told me what he did was he used max double team on Geodude and max tail whip on Onyx and finished him with quick attacks. Afterwards I learned how to play it properly lol. I even remember my rival's eevee evolving to Jolteon because I always fight it with my Pikachu. Then on my next play through I was expecting it to evolve into Jolteon and since I knew then that eevee being normal type is not strong against rock types, I fought it with my rock types to be surprised later on that it evolved into Vaporeon lol. So much memories.

Pokémon Yellow, Pokémon Crystal, and Pokémon Emerald, the music of these games really transports me back to a better time. A time when family still mattered, things you bought were made to last and were actually affordable “except healthcare lol”, 1 out of every 2 people weren’t bitter overly sensitive sociopaths, , social media hadn’t tore humanity apart yet, friends stayed friends, moms and dads still loved eachother, siblings stuck together, the government wasn’t taking away our rights and violating our privacy, neighbors got along and kids could play outside without someone trying to kidnap them, Even the food tasted better! I know it wasn’t perfect but some of the only bad things I can remember is how people could still get bullied for being lgbtq and nobody cared about abusive police, and a few things here or there. Before I have kids I hope we can fix the world so they can experience a normal life, not the freak dystopian hellscape we’re handing down.
I'd LOVE to play this game. But I'm spoiled by the later games now, cause playing Heartgold makes me see that leveling up Pokemon takes what feels like a century and a half

Though I have Red prior, Yellow is my first majorly played Pokémon game. Still own the cartridge to this day. It was special back then, as it felt closer to the original anime. Looking back, nostalgia. But, I HATED that in 4:05, Blue shoved you out of the way when you were trying to get Eevee, which is the Pokémon you're supposed to have, not Pikachu. At least Let's Go Eevee on the Switch made up for it all those years later.
This was my first pokemon game on gameboy color from my childhood. I remembered the time my gameplay cannot ba saved so it's so hard for me not to mention I have difficulty beating the first gym rock type pokemons as my main pokemon is pikachu. I leveled up to learn quick attack and finally beat brock. So much nostalgia.

He had other electric Pokémon in Red and Blue, like Magneton, but they only gave him Raichu in Yellow to make it closer to the anime.

I know it wasn’t perfect but some of the only bad things I can remember is how people could still get bullied for being lgbtq and nobody cared about abusive police, and a few things here or there.
Before I have kids I hope we can fix the world so they can experience a normal life, not the freak dystopian hellscape we’re handing down.

I'd LOVE to play this game. But I'm spoiled by the later games now, cause playing Heartgold makes me see that leveling up Pokemon takes what feels like a century and a half

My granny bought me dis game for my bday or for Christmas can’t remember but I remember taking the gameboy color out the box 📦 it was purple and putting the Pokémon yellow cartridge into the game system i was like 8 years old and couldn’t get past Brock i was soooooo frustrated I still don’t remember how i beat him but i know i had to really level my pokemon up to beat him then I started learning abt the types and the rest is history i went on to play gold crystal ruby emerald diamond platinum and stopped there but you know what im finna finish what i started as a kid and play the new ones i gotta catch em all
Though I have Red prior, Yellow is my first majorly played Pokémon game. Still own the cartridge to this day. It was special back then, as it felt closer to the original anime. Looking back, nostalgia. But, I HATED that in 4:05, Blue shoved you out of the way when you were trying to get Eevee, which is the Pokémon you're supposed to have, not Pikachu. At least Let's Go Eevee on the Switch made up for it all those years later.

The way you caught snorlax no problem at all made me mad I had him paralyzed and down in the red 3 times and used a great ball and he still busted out

This was my first pokemon game on gameboy color from my childhood. I remembered the time my gameplay cannot ba saved so it's so hard for me not to mention I have difficulty beating the first gym rock type pokemons as my main pokemon is pikachu. I leveled up to learn quick attack and finally beat brock. So much nostalgia.
