Good stuff, from ur favorite modder :D
Thanks isky! I am looking forward to showing off your work. Just might take a minute since I put all of yours on the base A3R
About RAM speed: from my research it seems that ArmA benefits from lower timings rather than higher frequency. One YAAB out there had a 32GB kit of 3200 CL16 DDR4 gaining about 10 FPS compared to 5600 CL28 DDR5. Can't find it now so I don't know the details but you'll also see other DX11-era games giving the same results of D4 vs D5. I have no idea why it be like it is, "but it do." Anyways thanks for these vids. You're the ArmA FPS legend!
Wo! Thanks for the info. Great to know. I must have remembered this detail incorrectly.
Lower timing is always better. It’s pretty much a universal rule.
@@neattricks7678 What if your frequency has to be lower to accept even lower timings?
@@Reticuli I don't think it works that way. The frequency is just the RAM's speed. Lower timings will make better use of the same speed, and even better use of a faster speed. Same way monitor refresh rate works, it's all about minimizing hangtime.
@@neattricks7678 Motherboard companies like Gigabyte tell people that too low of timings will result in the motherboards having to possibly relax the frequency ramp-up to compensate, though, like with Normal, Turbo, and Extreme settings. This is why they tell people to use Normal if you're doing manual OC, Turbo if you want a balance, and Extreme if you want the lowest timings with possibly relaxed auto OC of the frequency the RAM is running at. Extreme might even make the RAM unstable if the motherboard doesn't relax the frequency enough (or at all) to compensate. At least that's based on what that manufacturer has said.
One of these mods (other than saroTweak and Dynamic View Distance that I'm not using) causes Ace arsenal to take several minutes to load, even though none of these have any gear added.
Performance Extension also will work in Virtual Arsenal when I hit the key combo I assigned, but not in any missions.
Interesting. ACE Arsenal still loads instantly for me and the performance Extensions works in every mission for me.
Super useful! Thanks.
Glad you're enjoying it. I will forever use these mods
nice video bro❤
thank you for this informative video.
Helpful tutorial 😊
Glad you think so!
Auto View distance no good for me as I run decent view distance with low object , the auto add on doesn’t allow for lower object thus decreases my fps at even lower view distance , it shouldn’t over ride object setting then would work well
Has this channel discussed the realistic sound of the Su57 Mod Arma aircraft?
not yet 😏
Now that we have these mods...
What bout scenarios?
I'd love videos about what, how, why we can play in Arma 3 in 2023
There are many like big sandbox modes, liberation, etc...
But which ones are working?
What can we expect from a certain scenario?
Thanks for the feedback. I will have to get to those
I can help you with that, you know I re-enact and re-create history in Arma! (Pagan your first fan) @@nannertime
does the arma 3 performance extension mod work with ai mods like dco sfsm
Absolutely, yes it works.
Im running steady at 280 FPS on a 3070 rtx. Just turned off Vsync in video settings of arma and put the game into window mode. No mod needed
That great news! Thanks for sharing.
I don't see how these would help much performance. Most of those settings seem to have like no or negligible effect on performance. The only exceptions being PiP, shadow draw distance, and object draw distance after a certain point.
I usually play on 4k max, or near max, settings, and rarely drop under 60, but when I do, I DO. I van drop res or settings, and it doesn't matter. When it goes sub 60, there's no raising it outside just moving elsewhere or stopping what you're doing.
Weaker PCs are affected more by these mods than stronger PCs.
I would like to have more than 30 FPS in Kill Off The Hill mode.
Ask the server owner
Don't the mods need to be installed in case of playing on a server?
Yes, the server needs to allow the mods.
Mod for performance affect multiplayer servers? or is for solo player
It depends. and yes
@@nannertime thx, sorry the last question 😅 work in multiplayer and it is banneable?
@@user-kv5he9np2y Mods working on Multiplayer servers will depend of server mission creator. If you use a mod but in server it is´t enabled, it will not work. This mods will work for sure in Singleplayer, Local Host and Multiplayer host enable the mods.
the cpu optimization in arma is bullshit af because the game engine is really old, so whenever you throw in a bunch of realism mods the game becomes unbareble to play, like it seems like a joke playing in 20 fps on rtx 3080 + ryzen 7 5800x and 32 gigs of 4k mhz ram, that's my biggest problem with arma, hope your tutorial will help me, I'm now downloading all the mods from the video
The main culprit is usually view distance. If you have everything cranked up to ultra and a high view distance it's going to chug. Because at the end of the day the game is meant to be a large scale sandbox. Realism mods might make the game look more modern but not even modern games can run scenarios on a scale and complexity that arma can. That's also why reforger has been buggy and why the released that game in the first place. It needs some serious technical testing because the scale and complexity of what goes on in the arma engine is broad.
@@bestieswithtestiesfor me it was just the the explosion mods lol
@@FreeRwlly That makes sense some of them are more demanding than others. I play with an explosion mod, improved AI, project injury reaction which adds injuries with animations and gives explosions shrapnel, and like 20 other mods. Meanwhile I can make scenarios with like a 100 units in the game and still get 30+ fps. I could easily get 60+ if I ran a dedicated server or just turned my settings down a little but what I get is more than enough for me given how much stuff you can have going on at once
This was a great guide. As a game dev myself, let me just say that the main thing that makes Arma 3 run slow is the stencil shadow method used most notably for characters, weapons and vehicles (and possibly some other props). Notice that the shadows that are being cast by the characters and vehicles have super sharp edges, no matter how low you set the shadow quality. Compare it to the smooth shadows (shadow maps) that are being cast by the scenery props (buildings, signs, trees etc), and you will see that the edges of the shadow maps are becoming more and more jagged as you reduce the shadow quality (shadow map resolution), while the stenciled shadow would remain super crisp no matter what. That is because stencils are 'geometry' shadows that are using CPU, while shadow maps are basically real-time generated textures, calculated by the GPU. Needless to say, stenciled CPU shadows are an old and slow method and have been abandoned ages ago.
So I am wondering if there is a way (via a mod or a script) to change the shadow casting method for vehicles, characters and weapons from stencil to shadow maps? Because, if all shadows are to be calculated by the GPU (as it is done in 99% of games), Arma's performance problems would be gone in an instant.
Good to know. That would be interesting to see if we could get a mod for that.
Do you think the AI would also prevent FPS from being high? What about the single-core use of the game? Would fixing the shadows (or turning off the shadows) still keep the game from having high FPS?
What is the gear mod? 4:05
It's from VSM or USP
My game stutters and freezes - then it's suddenly unplayable. Can anyone help?
Man that could be a lot of stuff. I would try a reinstall. Play without mods. Ensure PC temps are low. Update Graphics Drivers.
@@nannertime I recently got a new laptop, experiencing the same issues as I did with my previous one - but I am trying to play with the same mods. Will try vanilla. Thanks.
1:50 I don't have that option how?
Install SaroTweakMapFPS. You may have to add the mod separately because I removed it from the RDLC since its so intrusive.
the work for multiplayer?
Yes if the server allows them
thanks u so much@@nannertime
I started having memory leaks
Let me know if you find out which mod is causing your memory leaks
@@nannertime I think it was the performance extension or a combination of that with the automatic view distance mod
co to kurwa jest?? ta gra zjada mój komputer
How to make game ugly as hell lmao
