Navy is lot better than 2 decades ago it was, thanks for sharing such a wonderful informative video. Being ex Pak navy sailor with more than 5000 active sea hours I can understand how strong this combination can be. We never had bought new ships in past except submarines. It’s good to see naval strength with modern surface ships which will serve nation for next 3-4 decades.

Oh, Saar, this is truly impressive! But the real question is, does Pakistan have anything to match our Indian submarine prowess? Our Indian submarines are equipped with air-independent propulsion, harnessing the power of sacred cows to generate oxygen. They move silently, like a deadly Indian fart after a curry, creating waves in the depths of the ocean, just like in a Bollywood blockbuster!

Its a holdover from when Bangladesh was part of Pakistan. Even so, Pakistan only has one true port, Karachi, and an Indian blockade of Karachi has the potential to bring all economic life in Pakistan to a standstill. The Coast Guards exist to protect coasts, the Navy exists to safeguard economic lifelines and potentially to project power.

Very good summary of Pakistan's Fleet, a topic not covered very much on UA-cam. Given an understandable funding bias towards the Army and Air Force, it is interesting to see such a significant investment in enhancing the Navy. At maturity, a modern fleet of 8 SSKs, 8 FFGs, 12 Corvettes, and 2 AORs represents a significant capability.

2 important notes about Zulficar class / Type22.
    1. They were the first new built ships to join Bahria. Previously, only new Submarines, or smaller new hulls like mine hunters and Soviet style Fast Attack Craft were inducted into Pak Navy. All larger warships were hand me downs from RN or USN.
    2. Key to success in service was that 2 or 3 out of 4 had command centers. These were a key asset to international fleets in the gulf of Aden in fight against piracy, with Pak Navy commanding the international fleet about half the time. This gave Bahria immense experience and credibility.

In recent years Pakistan has revolutionized its Naval power. If we consider that it's coastal line is not as stretched as India's its naval power is quite powerful with this cost line. Especially when the additional doctrine of Second Strike capability is added in Pakistan navy.

That's true.. However, Karachi has 2 ports. The other one is Port Qasim started few decades ago. Another major one in Gwadar which is totally functional now and more trade can be shifted there if required. Then there is naval base Orama which can itself handle some amount of large trade ships (if required) as it also have highway connectivity to Karachi. So that problem is being taken care of.

During steel cut I saw what looked like 8x8 cell vls on new Damen opvs plus RAM like missile launcher.

Hey thanks for the comment and info. By the way, I would refer to the Tughril as a subclass of the Type 054A - the extra 'A' is important in my opinion, because the Type 054 is the name of a separate class that is far less capable, with its only similarity with the 054A being the basic hull design.

Don't you think it is a right time for PN to go after Type 055 which is highly stealthy and is an antidot against S-400 and also known as a Conqueror.?

  • @simonyip5978
    @simonyip5978 2 роки тому +6

When you said that the Type 054A/P massively improves the Air Defence of ports and naval bases, its not always remembered that the Chinese PLA Navy surface fleet also provides a massive air defence capability and asset that protects the coastal regions of China from threats coming from the South/Eastern direction.
The Type 055/052B+C+D+DE/051C+B/Sovremenny/054A/Jiangwei II/056A destroyers and frigates number somewhere around 150 vessels.
The majority (excluding the Type 056A and Jiangwei II) are equipped with long and medium range SAMs and sensors as well as CIWS/ECM etc.
The 055/052/054A classes are all able to provide radar coverage for several hundred kilometres and lauch HHQ-16 and HHQ-9 SAM's with ranges of 80km and 220km respectively. These ships number almost 100 individual vessels and a mixed group of 055/052D/054A, supported by land based SAM's and land based aircraft and carrier based aircraft would form a formidable air defence network to protect China from seaward attacks.

Zulfiqar class is usually dedicated for anti-piracy (soon to be taken over by OPVs) and anti-sub capabilities. It carries Harbin Z9C for anti-sub role.
Key to understand is that Zulfiqar will serve as a part of a task force, usually having ships of different classes and capabilities. It will serve an important role as a part of the larger picture.

Great video very informative balanced and with a great detailed explanation just something I wanted to add on to this topic Is that the Pakistani navy as well as armed forces are built on quality rather than quantity this is because it’s counter parts are very big in terms of funding for its military capabilities so therefore being a rather developing economy it has to balance everything and maintain its independence by ensuring quality of various equipment and has performed very good over time especially during wars sinking Indian ships and taking out their tanks and jets in fights particularly in 2019 when they shot 2 Indian jets with 0 losses and bombed near their garrison to avoid further casualties and the Indians only shot down their own search helicopter. 😂😂

All these ships and yet so few true bases. Unless Gwadar, Ormara, Pasni, and possibly Khor Kalamat, but especially Gwadar become true operational Naval Bases, with shipyards and drydocks, refineries and fuel storage, etc Pak Navy still has to fear being holed up in Karachi in the event of an Indian blockade (as happened in 71) or risk significant escalation of what are normally limited engagements by using their Subs to breakthrough the blockade by attacking Indian ships.
You can buy a garage and then fill it with cars, or you can buy the cars and then build a garage to house them. I suspect Pakistan has gone the latter route.

Extremely basic navy with no capabilities outside their own shores. Theor best ship is the fairly basic Type-054 Chinese frigate which is untested. The India navy is under no significant treat From Pakistan it seems like. Especially considering the Indian navy grows more rapidly than the Pakistani navy.

Pakistan navy primary role is Anti Access and Area denial. It will Not go to indian territory. It will stay under its airforce air cover. Dedicated maritime strike fighter squadrons were raised which works entirely with Pakistan navy. The offensive might be carried out by the submarines though.

@@ulikemyname6744 It will not need to protect its navy. There is no country in neighborhood which can by pass 11 AIP enabled submarines. The AIP allows to keep subs submerged for weeks and it becomes near impossible to detect those. Maritime strike fighter squadrons are loaded with supersonic anti-ship missiles. The surface fleet( ships ) maybe won't even be required to fire its long range anti-ship missiles as subs and fighter jets create outer parameter offence. That's why PN has transformed into a perfect A2/AA force. It won't allow anyone into its territory even without using latest Type54As and Babur corvettes etc.

@@usermk99 You rely on that the Pakistani Navy is fight capable enough for all that you said to take place. You also rely that their staff is capable enough to use all these weapons. You also rely on that the systems on ships like Type 054 are capable of doing what they are advertised to do which is highly doubtful considering it was never used in any kind of mission. You rely on all these things for your assessment but the Russian sailors on Moskva were also capable on paper to defend themselves but 2 subsonic missiles destroyed the Destroyer that on paper was more than capable of defending itself from such weak attack like that which sank it. Even the automatic system was capable of defending yet it failed.

Our Indian submarines are equipped with air-independent propulsion, harnessing the power of sacred cows to generate oxygen.
