Amazingly enough you can actually see footage of Rodney Mullen getting his first board. I forget if it's a pic or video though.

Nora is such a great ambassador for skateboarding. She literally represents skateboarding in such a genuine way. This made me feel the same way I felt when I decided all I wanted to do for the rest of my life was skateboard. Thanks Nora.

Bang on! And the comparison with Lance Mountain is very apt: it was his depiction of the fun and freedom of just riding a board on the first Bones Brigade video that made people who saw it want to skate again, that reminded them of how to enjoy it. Nora is like that. Nice smile too.

congrats, from one parent to another. hows the sleep, you still alive? yep its hard work, i have no respect for the childless leeches of the world but fine, ill raise them too. i wanted to tell you that our kids arent growing up in a sexist world anymore and what was once an important cry for help, has become a war slogan and slowly, its men who are becoming underprivileged. that may feel righteous, but thats the same thing we were fighting against.

The start of this documentary made me sad as hell because it reminded me why I gave up on skateboarding when I was younger: I was too much scared of the guys doing it in the street and the opinion of fellow girls. I wish I was strong willed like Nora.
The corporations are to blame for that. I wish young people were more aware of the corporate machine and the way it molds society.

Nora is one of my favorite skaters in general at the moment. I’m glad we’re getting to witness a legend in the making. Also when you have Andrew Reynolds talking about you like this, you know you’re legit and doing something right.

Bought my own saving up from my crappy restaurant and babysitter jobs as a young woman, worked my ass off for that thing & was afraid to buy it bc I was so broke. After years of being told I couldn't do it (much less having a board purchased for me by family), it felt awesome. Haven't stopped since!
I'm now 46 years old. I started skating when I was about 11 or 12yrs old through around college. Now my oldest boy is 11yrs old. It's crazy to see the years go by. Every now and then I'll putter around on my skateboard, but watching Nora makes me want to run out and really get into it. Watching this gave me the same feeling I'd get watching Wheels of Fire with the homies before heading out to skate all day.
Nora is so inspiring and wholesome, I love watching her skate. It's so artistic, and she puts a lot of meaning into skateboarding. Keep winning Nora, you rule!

No matter what's going on in my life some how skating always brings me back to life. Even if I stop for 2 months or so when I go back and warm up to the feeling it's as if I never left and always remember y I love it! She speaks truth, I don't mind getting hurt but I've always pushed myself harder on a board then anything else cuz I just love it so much. I guess when ur 25 and uve skated since u were 8 it's impossible to stop. Even tho life can sometimes make u doubt wen shit gets real it's still there in ur car or in the corner of ur room waiting for u to pick up and go be a kid again. Nora is so awesome, I first saw her on Thrashers King of the road. It's funny because skateboarding was always marketed as a boys thing even though it never had to be and now there are girls that are killing it and ultimately they're going to have so much more influence for sponsors. Exactly what Lacey said, in 10 years it's going to be a whole different thing, especially for women.

When I was young, all I wanted to do was skate. I had two skateboards stolen from me, and decided it wasn't for me. Seeing things like this make me wish I had stuck it out. It's very inspirational, but not just for skating - for any purpose. What a great video!

A note to Adidas (& all vendors too) - start paying these girls more money to promote your product. You're missing out on potentially 50% of the market. Foster a progressive environment instead of stigma - this video is a good move!

I met her 2 summers ago at the Vans surf and skate open in Huntington. Like others said in the video.. right away I was drawn to her style of skating. You could tell from afar that this person loved skateboarding and belonged in the sport. Keep in mind, I didn’t know she existed until I saw her that day at the competition. I watched her compete and attempt a kick-flip to Indy over a gap. She had so much style and everyone around me was drawn to her energy.
The next day I was walking around in the stands and noticed she was near me and watching the competition. I approached and asked her if she ever ended up landing the trick I saw her trying the day before. she laughed and was a very nice and open individual. Ended up having a pleasant couple minute conversation. Happy for your success Nora.

It seems dumb skating cement bowls, etc. with no protection. Hopefully, she doesn't feel compelled to do that because she wants to prove something.

Back after the 50's (lol) when handstands, ticktacks and rockwalks were the hippest- highjumps, slalom, etc... skating was more like a yo-yo, a frisbee, there were a lot more female skaters. It really was cool, then who knows what happened? Did skateboarding just become super aggro in about 2 years and then all macho-man because? Skateboarding had to start over and grow into this other amazing thing. Mystifying. Emancipate and blur the line til it's gone again. shred it ta bitz

@@vonslagle Skateboarding wasn't jock-like in the 90's.... It was outsider freak-stuff, linked with vandalism and graffiti and partying and stuff. That was before skateboarding became mainstream in the 2000's.

So cool watching Nora inspire the next generation. Pretty sure I remember seeing you at Skaters Edge, not sure if she got out to Skater Island in Rhode Island but think I recall seeing her there as well. Little girl would show up and shred and her mom would always be nearby reading a book. Not sure if it overlapped when my friends girl crew would show up and rip but she would have loved them as I think the timeline might not have been just right. Was 4-5 girls that would always show up together and they always ripped and always had fun.
