    When the student is ready the master appears. You are a god-sent guru for me to get my online business operating. I have spent many days looking for this exact information. I have watched many of your videos on themes, website page builders and others. Each one is so well explained even I, at 67 years young and know a some things about WordPress, can understand everything you talk about. Most importantly, I can do it myself. I can't thank you enough for taking the time to create these videos.

    Great video - just to confirm what you said at minute 9.28 - it is REQUIRED and JetPack will be installed if I use Astra + the WooCommerce - correct? I do not want to use JetPack, so must I use a different theme to use Woo? Thanks.

    Hi, excellent Video, congratulations. I bought this week astraPro an elementor, I am starting a new website in wordpress for my company and this woocommerce plugin would help a lot, as I have Pro and Elementor I do not know if I expect or I will be able to use another plugin to customize WC pages. I appreciate your opinion

    • @WPCrafter
      @WPCrafter  6 років тому

      Yes if you want to customize the product pages, and about a month Elementor is going to come out with an update to allow you to style those product pages. It's going to be a big deal and you'll see lots of videos on my channel. Also Astra has a pro extension for WooCommerce that is available in your downloads area, it is still in beta but should be finalized soon.

    Awesome Vid - really cant wait for the woo vid - a lot of people need that one. So is there any solution yet for global post and products other than AE Pro? I see Astra is now compatible...so Astra or Storefront for Ecommerce? pros and cons?

    • @WPCrafter
      @WPCrafter  6 років тому

      Right now Astra is really where it's at for WooCommerce, especially if you have seen the beta version of their Pro add-on for WooCommerce. Also when you factor in Elementor will be able to design product pages, it's going to be a pretty lethal combination really soon.

    Hi, again -- what a great tutorial ! but can you answer the question of whether it is possible to convert this to an Amazon site sans the plugin. I don't know how to get from demo data to adding Amazon products manually the free way. I'd be grateful for a reply...

    • @WPCrafter
      @WPCrafter  6 років тому

      Yes, you can use WooCommerce to drop ship, or have Amazon affiliate links for the products. So if someone clicks buy, it takes them over to Amazon. There must be a scraper and importer available, I haven't done the research. This would make it a lot easier to get products imported.

      Had the same issue. Go to Dashboard / Appearance / Customize / Header / Primary Menu.

    hey adam. love the tuts but for me also the Shop wasn't showing and also i couldn't see where it was in the Customize section. So I dug into woo and found it! perhaps this will help others;
    Goto the Woocommerce section and click on Status, then select Tools from the 3 tabs available, you need to scroll down a bit to where it says "Create default WooCommerce pages" and then click the click the "Create Pages". When thats done go back to Appearance - Menus and you will see the "Shop" page there for you to add to your main menu. I hope you are ok with me pointing that out Adam because the Shop doesnt show on the Customizer. Obviously the shop is empty because we dont have your xml file but at least its there now :)
    thank you for your great tutorials :)

But it did not take me through the onboarding process you went through. I can't help but wonder what I did wrong. Hi Adam, been loving all your videos. On the topic of how much you can do completely free... Seems you favor the Astra Pro theme as that's what you're using on your own site if I recall correctly. But can you recommend what's the best FREE theme for most folks, Astra vs GeneratePress (vs other?). Have you compared feature sets in a spreadsheet or anything (including what features can be added to each via thier free add-ons/plugins)? Interested in anything you could say on this, Thanks!

    • @WPCrafter
      @WPCrafter  6 років тому

      I have written reviews and comparisons of most themes, on my website. The reason you see me using Astra so much is that I do think it is the best theme for everyone. But you can read some of the discussions on my website.

    • @kieguy
      @kieguy 6 років тому

      Thanks for replying...I admit I usually find your videos directly on UA-cam and haven't spent as much time on your site directly (just a little bit here and there). Just found that last link "WordPress Product Comparisons" buried at the very bottom of your footer (talk about burying the lead ;) ) ...and WOW! I had no idea you'd done all these comparison posts for themes, builders, hosting, etc. Tons of juicy data there. Plus forums (discussions) which I haven't delved into but plan to as I can. I may have missed it but you should mention your comparisons section in your videos more, awesome stuff. I'll plug it right now for you :) Everyone check out Adam's WordPress Product Comparisons at www.wpcrafter.com/comparisons/

    • @WPCrafter
      @WPCrafter  6 років тому

      I'm glad you found it and I'm sorry I didn't give you a better idea of where they were. I'm going to do a better job of highlighting the reviews and comparisons more in the future. Right now they are very easily findable when you search in Google.

      In the Customizer, the cart icon is now found under the Primary Header section within in the Custom Menu Item dropdown. In that dropdown, choose WooCommerce then the cart icon will appear in your header.

    HI Adam, you are absolutely a wealth of knowledge and very helpful to me. I am having some issues with my credit card payments going through on my store. I have tested and found out that after customers put in their credit card info an error msg comes up and not able to go further to download the product because of an error msg i.e."Error occurred try another form of payment or try again later" The payment is showing up on my Braintree account as processing though. Woo commerce engineers have advised to activate storefront theme which I did ... and also to deactivate all plugins except Woo commerce and paypal Braintree etc. Tried doing the test same error. I am going to also try deactivating 1 plugin at a time to see what happens. Very time-consuming. Please help. Have my backups on Dropbox Thanks to you. I am also thinking of switching to the 2017 theme and see what happens. It was disappointing that after switching to the Storefront theme the same error occurred.

    Hi Adam, very nice video, i will give it a try of astra theme, until now i use oceanwp, that it seems to be similar. I also noticed that you use instead of .dev the .local tld in your local machine, how did you do that?

    • @WPCrafter
      @WPCrafter  6 років тому

      Yes I use Local by flywheel. It's similar to DesktopServer in that it makes it really easy to install WordPress on your computer. It automaticall makes dev sites use .local for the url. And yes Astra is going to be simpler to use then OceanWP. Almost like it configures itself.

    • @gatenet666
      @gatenet666 6 років тому +1

      I also use local by flywheel but my urls are .dev not .local

    • @WPCrafter
      @WPCrafter  6 років тому

      I think its only the new sites that I am adding. Also using PHP7.1. The reason they switched is, I think Google Chrome is making some changes and .dev will no longer work right. I could have that wrong, but I remember something like that.

    • @gatenet666
      @gatenet666 6 років тому

      You are right, Google anounced that the .dev will be characterized as non secure and Chrome didnt let me open one i had, in local, i was trying to find the solution and some forums where saying to change the .dev to .local but i didnt find how to do that. But suddenly the next day .dev was working fine. I use php 7.0 and i haven't install any new site to local but i will give it a try to see if everything is fine

    Including premium themes or extension like Astra also offers it for WooCommerce, what do you think about the Storefront theme from Woocommerce itself? Regards and thanks, Julien

    • @WPCrafter
      @WPCrafter  6 років тому

      The Storefront theme is not that good. Also it is VERY expensive since every little thing is sold separately.

    thank you for this video, it is really easy with Woocommerce.. it does not look that neat on my site though.. For some reason, Woocommerce just wants to show the categories at top, before the product pictures come... and I just cant find a way to get rid of them..and I cannot see the Cart which i did when I used a different theme. but sure, it has never been so easy and QUICK... Ill check out your other tutorial and might find the answer.

    lil question, in a previous video (might be a different yt channel, my memory is a bit foggy) you told us if you have an existing site and you have for example Theme A for this site. and you add woocommerce and give it the astra theme, does this mean the existing site gets the astra theme too, or do i need some special settings to seperate both of them (i want to add a small woocommerce page on my dad's already exsiting site, bees need more attention)

    Hi Great Video! Can I add "Opayo" gateway instead of the default stripe to Woocommerce for taking the online payments? as Opayo say they only charge flat rate £20.90 month with 350 transactions included, Does that really mean I will not have to pay any transaction fees % of each transaction? this is what I have told by an web designing agency.

    In your video at about 12:48 you refer to taking the imported WordPress file from what looks (this is not so clear in the video) like the WooCommerce area in the Dashboard on the left column. But am looking there for that file to drag, move, and paste it in the “choose file” area on the right of the Dashboard of WordPress as you did. I downloaded the WordPress dummy file several times, but I cannot find it in the Dashboard under WooCommerce or underneath it. Can you please advise?
