I've been banging my head on my desk for days trying to figure this one out, thanks for the three options and the clarity & brevity in each! I will come in off the ledge now.
actually i am loosing my patience, it took me 3 months just to find out how to remove the background, until now i cant remove the background, this is i think the 39th video tutorial, how amazing is that this photoshop, very user friendly
If Photoshop is becoming too frustrating you could try something like Canva that has an automatic background removal tool. It's not as good as what Photoshop can do but is fine for basic selections on a simply background!
I'm so happy I've found your channel, you explain everything so clearly and also break it down for the beginners, and showing us shortcut keys to use. Thank you so much ill be watching all your videos, as I've just started a class but they aren't teaching these easy steps. They had me using the lasso tool to remove background
Hey! Would you have an advice on how to cut out an entire photo so to keep only the analog border frame of it so that I can use it in other photos as a layer for example?
Thanks a lot for this tutorial. One issue I have is: in my Mac when I click Opt+Click on the layer mask, I am not able to see the mask (the black and white image). It only shows the subject of the image, without the background. Can you suggest how to rectify this?
Thanks! It works only for simple images. I have a template with more than 15 to 20 elements, and it didn't work at all. I wish the removal of background should not be so complicated for complicated templates. Thanks
My photoshop is newly installed and I saw no content of properties. Also I can't delete the fully background like how it suppose to, it always leave white background or other color I chose but I can't and I don't know how to delete the background completely. Pls tell me how ...
When the background is removed, do I save the file with the mask? Or do I delete the mask and save the image? Basically I need to have my final PNG with a transparent background. So I am not sure if I can save this image - or if I should copy my cleaned up image and place it into a new transparent canvas? I've been doing that but if I don't have to do that and can just save this image somehow, that would be even faster. Hope that makes sense. I love your instructions! So straight forward and easy to follow!
As long as the background of your project looks transparent, your mask will be saved on export. For example, if you cut out a person so they're against a transparent background, the background will export as such. To preserve transparency you'll need to export as PNG so go to File > Save as copy > Format to PNG then click save. Your cut out will be saved with a transparent background that way. you don't need to do anything special with the masks for export :)
Hi Brendan, I only recently discovered you and your channel and I`m now a subscriber. Can I say how easy you make understanding Photoshop, which I find very overwhelming and hard to understand and even though I`m on Adobes Photography Plan and have access to Photoshop, I very rarely use it, because quite honestly it frightens me. i`ve just signed up and received your first few lessons and I`m currently working through the emails and enclosed videos, so hopefully at the end of this I`ll feel more comfortable in using Photoshop. Many many thanks.
