I have no idea...these labels are dumb.
Exactly, I thought I was the only one that questioned that. From the conservative perspective, they tend to associate far left with over exaggerations of a political view. They will say we want the police to be non-existent when we want reform, just as they will say we want to kill babies, when we really want safety for a woman's body.

This country doesn't have a true far left political party like other countries do, especially in Latin America. That said, if you hear conservatives use that term, they're trying to use it as a scare tactic.

My father (born in 1924) was the 1st Black Republican I ever knew, and he was extremely conservative. He was a fervent GOP member, and believed in all things Republican. My mother was a die-hard Democrat, and as such, there were no discussions about politics, especially around elections. I think my dad would be appalled at the state of his party, with the toadying, a**-kissing, bootlicking behavior. He felt that policy and platforms were uppermost in importance. And as a WWII veteran, he would have hated Trump and his takeover of the party he cherished. It is very scary nowadays and I find nothing funny about it.

I love the jokes bc they ring true, to a certain extent. It's more like a football team playing against a team with no regard for the rules & indifferent refs then complaining that the other team isn't playing fair but insisting on adhering to the rules of fair play instead of adjusting your game. It's prsents like virtue signaling for me. Do you want to hold to an illusion of integrity or do you want to "win"? Personally, I want the win, i.e. ish to get done. Change the strategy and get some dirt on you. People are gonna be mad either way, let them be mad while you deliver on the product.

Trying to reform these absolute lunatics is a fool's errand. They need to be defeated at the ballot box, they truly want a society that will end up looking a lot like Mad Max, consumption cannot run forever. We are running out of clean air and fresh water and the temperature rise is pushing other peoples to colder areas. This is juts the beginning if we don't reverse course. We have the science and will. But the money and decisions are still made by people only interested in making money, human cost be damned

The truth is sometimes scary but he was dead on.
I could be wrong, but I think that most Americans are somewhere in the middle when it comes to their social political beliefs and have a mixture (to some degree or another) of both liberal Democrat and conservative Republican social political beliefs. The problem is that politicians, social activists, and partisan social political commentators on both sides of the social political fence are either more concerned with either winning their elections or imposing their social political ideology on the public and therefore seek to keep us all divided by playing on our frustrations, anger, and fears by demonizing each the opposing side. This is especially true with many far Right current day Republicans. The irony is that even that orange clown Trump isn't a true conservative Republican and he is only spouting the usual conservative Republican talking points because (a) he had no chance of securing a Democratic nomination and (b) he wanted to stick it to Obama and dismantle many of his policies.
