Heroinemake long & curl, I tried all of their mascara. My Holy grail! To remove either use the heroinemake remover (look like a mascara, handy for travels) or any oil-based eye remover. I use the loreal lip&eye remover.
The waterproof kiss me heroine make mascara is my HOLY GRAIL. Honestly, for Asian eyes, it's the best that's out there and I've been using it for years!!
Does it damage your lashes I’ve been using mine for a week now and it’s amazing, I just noticed when I go to remove it it’s pretty time consuming what do you use to remove it?
Tracy Soliz use their ‘speedy mascara remover’ (it’s in a blue-ish mascara tube). Without it, I find even an oil based waterproof make up remover won’t really get it off (they used to have a bigger pink bottle but I think they discontinued it, although u can find it on Amazon) 🤔

Tracy Soliz Hi there, ive been using this mascara for a few years now. Heimish all clean balm and Banila CO’s cleansing balm work really well to massage the mascara off.
Only mascara I use for many years now n I use the loreal lip and eye makeup remover, I believe it's oil based (2 layer - blue n white) n it removes easily.
this was so helpful! as a fellow monolid, i understand the loss of curl, smudging, and flaking. it was great to see the tests done without false eyelashes. great, informative, video!
Hey Jen! I've been watching your older videos lately & fell in love with your Heart 2 Heart ones. I know you haven't done them in a while and may have different priorities now that your channel has really taken off, but I found your vulnerability & honesty in older videos such as those really refreshing and beautiful. Ive personally found a lot of confidence & positivity from watching your videos as a petite Asian American female myself who has been mocked for my naturally small frame or "squinty" eyes. Love your AAGC shirt! Also yes on waterproof mascaras. Its the only kind that holds a curl on me. Sometimes i wear a thin “base coat” of waterproof mascara to hold a curl and then use non waterproof to layer on top of it for more volume. Definitely easier for removal, too!

Love this, but please do a comparison with waterproof mascaras soon, too! I have short, straight, sparse lashes, so I definitely have the problem of my lashes disappearing because they won't hold any curl as soon as mascara is applied. I'd love to see what works well for you!
Kirra Fedyszyn yes! Would like another version with waterproof formulas... I have yet to find a non waterproof formula that works for my lashes.

I’d love a video on waterproof mascaras! I’ve pretty heavy monolids and to be honest I’ve just given up on mascaras unless I’m wearing eyelid tapes because they smear everywhere and eyelid tape is uncomfortable and almost exclusively for cosplay :/

I was in Tokyo two years ago and I saw the Heroine mascara and eyeliner in their drug store. The mascara and liquid eyeliner were round $15 all together. I'm seeing the prices online now for them, which are a bit higher than what I paid in Tokyo. Then again, me buying them online saves me a plane ticket, hotel, and meals in Tokyo for one day.

I feel like I haven't watched one of your videos in ages but this one really interested me & personally, when I saw the heroine mascara in the thumbnail, I knew I had to watch this haha I was surprised (but then again not surprised) that my personal mascara was also the one suggested by your IG followers. I had the same reaction as you when I first tried it out on my lashes & it's been my holy grail since. I'm also using the advanced film version but I'd like to see another ep of waterproof mascaras with that super waterproof heroine mascara! when I really want my lashes to hold the curl throughout the whole day, I do the burning a wooden stick method that's famous in the k-beauty world. that combined with the heroine mascara works wonders! can't wait for more of these episodes ((: ♥

Please do the waterproof version!! My Asian lashes can’t hold a curl unless it’s waterproof! And your old suggestion (years ago!) of the UD cannonball mascara is still one if my favs!

Yes please you should make a waterproof version of the mascaras bc I’m like you I have short Asian stubby lashes that will not hold a curl so this video was very helpful! I love the last mascara from viewer’s choice. It will be awesome if you could do this with foundation, eyeshadow palettes, etc.

Yes! Please do a waterproof mascara video! My lashes are the same way as yours and are soooo straight and I can’t use anything but waterproof. Thanks for this video and I’ll definitely have to try the Heroine mascara. Also a tip to hold your curl with a waterproof mascara is heating up your curler then curling your lashes. This keeps my curl in place all day!

I’m a little late here but the heroine mascara line also has a dedicated mascara remover (it comes in a light blue package) and it does wonders! It takes off mostly every other waterproof mascara. I literally have one in my bathroom, one at mother’s house, and one at my boyfriend’s apartment. It’s just so good I can’t live without it anymore!
Please do more of these! Highlighter, blush, foundation, primer, eyeshadow, etc! Thanks!
Ive been using maybelling colossal for over 10 yrs now and its sooo good for daily wear. Does not clump and easy to take off. Gives decent length. Cant ask for more. Happy with it , sticking to it. Thanks for adding it in your reviews. Most influencers ignore it even though its the most purchased maybelline mascara

I have lots of favorite drugstore mascaras. One of my all time favorite is the Maybelline Falsies with the flared brush. It's brush is like the last mascara you used and it makes my lashes so long.
Great video Jen! If you were to do the waterproof comparisons, add “etude house curl fix mascara” as well. The removability is better than the Heroine make (used and loved both but HM is muuuucch more harder to remove. Must use oil based eye makeup remover)

Hooded monopod here... etude house last perm curl fix!!! Hands down the best. Stays curled. Brush is bomb.
Hey! I know I'm late to the party, but as a fellow monolided girl I wanted to recommend you try the Ilia Limitless Lash Mascara. It is the only non-waterproof mascara that actually sort of holds a curl for me. This one and the Heroine Long and Curl in waterproof are my favourite!

Love this video! I used to use the Urban Decay Canon Ball waterproof mascara for many years until it was discontinued. I currently use the Dior waterproof mascara. I'd love to see a video on waterproof mascara. Also I haver recently tried Mascara Hourglass Caution which was pretty good for non waterproof. But I think I may go back to waterproof because my curl didn't hold very well. Would love to see an updated waterproof mascara comparison. Even with drug store brands.
I love product review videos! This was great, and very entertaining! Small pro tip: instead of using the side of the mascara wand fo your lower lashes, use the tip. This will help prevent it from getting onto your skin during application. Just be sure to wipe off any excess from the wand before you start applying. If you find some of your lashes sticking together, simply use a clean spoolie to separate them. ❤️
I find curling lashes with mascara pulls out my lashes so I tried a heated electric eyelash curler, maybe that could help with the curl after you apply mascara ☺️

Yes please! I only use waterproof mascaras because I have oily lids and my eyes always gets watery. My fave so far though is the loreal lash paradise and maybelline big shot shayla collab, but I believe they have waterproof in the original version. Ive also wanted to try that particular japanese mascara, good to know that it’s so good. I’ll be buying that next time on my next Yesstyle order.
I’ve found that with my stick straight Asian lashes, waterproof mascara helps to hold curl much better than non waterproof mascara
If you like the look of Better Than Sex but not the droop, HIGHLY recommend Lash Paradise Waterproof, which I top off with the Glossier Lash Slick. Both mascaras which don't work for me on their own, but are amazing together!

Yes do one with the waterproof mascara. I think main drawback for waterproof for me is wear. It always gives me smudges. I carry q-tips all the time to rectify the situation. But I would love to find waterproof one that doesn't smudge. I love your content ❤
Yes waterproof test please! I only use drier waterproof on my short, straight, stubborn lashes.

For my short asian lashes, my perfect recipe is the Maybelline Colossal Big Shot as the base layer (curls and lengthens), then covergirl lash blast volume (obviously for volume). Does not smudge and curls last all day!
The heroine kiss me waterproof (long and volume) mascaras have been my favorite for a long time!! Maybe it’s been 10 years...I always stock up when I go to visit my in-laws in Taiwan bc it’s cheaper and I feel assured they’re legit. I’ve tried other stuff out there, just isn’t the same. So I stopped trying and stick with what works, tried and true! It is the best for Asian lashes, and watery eyes!!!

Hi Jen, I've been a subscriber for years but this is my first comment ever so I want to let you know I'm very impressed with your videos because you are so meticulous and organized. Even though I'm 40+ young, I've had to learn to wear make up from you. I was in the military for 20+ yrs, so makeup was not a priority. Lol. You taught me my eye are called Monolids and how to put makeup on them. God bless you! Please do a video on Waterproof Mascara because my Monolids also tend to tear a lot due to allergies. I have the Heroine waterproof version and I love it! It is a bit difficult to remove, so perhaps I'll try the regular version. I would appreciate a video comparing the two versions. Thanks, Jen!
Try removing it with micellar water and cotton before using a cleansing oil/balm. Lol Mascara is always difficult to remove no matter which mascara I use. So I always use micellar water and then use cleansing balm/oil.
Hello, I'm newer to your videos and enjoyed watching this one for the most part, but may I make a suggestion? You mentioned that you may not be applying your mascara correctly and that is why you were having problems with smudging, I think it has to do with how you hold the mascara wand when you apply it to bottom lashes. You can hold it the wand in more of an upright position so you're using only the tip/end of the wand to apply mascara to the lashes rather than applying the wand horizontally and smudging the skin underneath the eyelashes. So you can hold the wand vertically instead of horizontally. I hope that makes sense and helps! 😊
Check out the Covergirl total tease mascara! Comes off easily but also lasts all day on my stubborn Asian lashes. It’s taken me forever to find a good mascara as well.
I love this experimental type video!! I have really short straight Asian lashes too, so finding one that works for me is a struggle. I've never heard of that Japanese mascara before, but I feel like I have to try it now!
You have to try it!!! I’m a huge advocate for the kiss me mascara. I’ve been using it for years and always stock up when I vacation in Asia since it’s cheaper there. Tip: also buy their mascara remover so it’s a lot easier to take off. Trust me!!!

ETUDE HOUSE CURL FIX mascara. Pretty similar to the heroine mascara, but a little easier to get a hold of (imo). I LOVE it. My absolute holy grail.

I have straight pointed down lashes and I use the too faced waterproof mascara and it holds a curl pretty well as long as I don’t push the brush with full force because the brush is so big (too much product distribution even after wiping the wand a little). After the recommended expiration though, that’s when I see the dry chunks fallout on my face, so I have to replace it pretty often.
But I can’t wait to try the Heroine one!!

Loved this review! I used to use Urban Decay Canon ball waterproof because you recommended it. But sadly sephora discontinued it. I tried to find another waterproof mascara for my asian monolid straight eye lashes. I currently use Lancome Monsieur Big Waterproof and its ok. It would be awesome if you did a waterproof mascara version. :)
I too have super straight lashes just like you and my curl falls as well with certain mascras
. I just found a great one by Maybelline, it is Soft and Full, another blogger said she used it and has straight lashes like ours.
i have sad lashes too! i love the better than sex waterproof mascara and big ego...but i just prefer waterproof mascara because they can hold the curl better *chefs kiss
the heroine mascara is supposed to be a warm water removal mascara but I've never gotten that to work.. but the curling power is unmatched!

I only started wearing curling mascara these past few years. I feel it's a game changer for me, since l wear glasses and my lashes are already kinda long naturally. I've tried the benefit washable one and the one from Clinique. The one from Clinique is most interesting. It's like a fibre mascara and tube mascara. It's washable, but it only comes off with hot water otherwise it's tough to remove.
Maybelline colossal waterproof or the lash sensational waterproof is my favorite and holds the curl (unless it’s raining, problem of asian lashes😔). Please try waterproof mascaras next time! Also the heroine kiss me mascara has been an OG, please try it to compare!

Taking off Heroine mascara is struggle. It's my holy grail now, so I always buy Heroine mascara remover with it.

You should get yourself a hold of the Fasio Powerful curl mascara. Japanese brand too, and waterproof. The diff with the heroine make one is that this one has a skinnier brush. So easy to apply on. :)
I purchased the heroine mascara after this review and it’s amazing only down fall is at removal time, it takes some time removing the mascara. You def have to prep your lashes with some type of eye lash remover and then use soap and warm water to remove the remainder of the product. That stuff is really on those lashes lol. I just hope that it doesn’t damage my lashes.
Hi Jen! I'm in Japan for vacation and thanks to your recommendation, I will pick up the Japanese mascara. Also, please try the Rodan and Fields Lash Serum, it actually works and it helped lengthen my lashes which made mascara application so much easier.
Yes please, waterproof version! You mentioned you use eyeshadow primer when you apply mascara only and no eyeshadow (in your heroine make take off section), does it make a big difference with mascara wear?
You should totally do a remix. Like... a current day video with the top mascara from each of these previous videos you've done, and have them duke it out haha

I have straight Asian lashes and only use waterproof mascara! I love Maybelline mascaras and have used The Falsies Push Up Angel waterproof mascara almost exclusively for years. My lashes are long and the comb coats each lash so that they stay curled and look great! This has me interested in trying the Heroine mascara tho... I’d be very interested in seeing your review on waterproof mascaras.
Heroine Make Volume and Lengthen formulas are both my absolute HGs. I will never go back. The only one more voluminous is the Etude House Lash Perm Curl Fix and it does come in red and brown but it is -- if you could believe it -- even harder to remove than Heroine Make. I wear waterproof mascara on the daily but my lashes have so far held up fine
