Hello sir, I just wanted to say that I’m so thankful that I found your video on this tonight because every single video out there on the subject requires Tools, no matter how many times I type in “no tools“ that’s still all I get but tonight I found this and it’s The One!! Since my husband was killed in an accident, I have found myself more than ever needing to ask him questions it seems. Questions I never thought about asking such as, what if a deadly virus is unleashed on earth & my job gets taken & the house gets foreclosed & Me and our son are forced to live in the rv without power❓ How do you operate anything in there besides the living room light❓ How do i replace the back half(bathroom and bedroom) of the floor that got wet & is fallling in❓ How do I get water, hot water for a shower or to wash dishes with❓How will I cook❓ How will we shower❓ or even have heat❓ How will we survive in a camper out in the middle of nowhere alone❓ “tell me now, before you go in case I can’t find the answers on my own & so I don’t sit around scared to death crying 24/7 when I can’t do it...just in case.” I found the answer to one of them tonight here and I thank you!! Thank you.
To make a long story short, there's a ventilation hole below the right side of the block.

My father sounded like you for a few days and thought nothing of it, but after a few weeks, ended up discovering he had a serious case of bronchitis that could've easily turned into pneumonia. This is good concept... But once the ash fills up, you have to move a hot cinder-block. Hense the 4-block method.
So what happens to the ashes with the poor block method?

I just use a few small rocks on the underside pressed into the dirt or some small clay tiles.

What if you removed the center divider in the bottom cinder block wouldn’t that prevent it from smoking?
Probably, but the purpose of the illustration was to show with and without air flow from the bottom. :)
You could have actually made a rocket stove if you had the hole extend to both sides and sealed around the edges. Could have duplicated a Dakota fire hole. And you only need one block and a hole to make a u. Happy burning.
