Two properties in Eldoret's upmarket Elgon View estate demolished

Two families living in Eldoret’s upmarket Elgon View Estate have been left homeless after the Uasin Gishu County Government demolished their houses which had been constructed on county land. The two houses, worth over Sh45 million combined, had been constructed on a five-acre piece of land. The prime land on which the houses were constructed has been at the center of a long-standing dispute between two persons and the county government which claims it is a public utility.
