    That was a masterful and ingenious presentation. I really enjoy your detailed explanations at each step and the purpose of why you do those things. Very nice!

    Well done, as usual! Lovely that you gave credit where it was due. Gordon ties very clean flies too!

    Vladimir, why don’t you use “mud”-paste for the tippet which will drown it and make less visible, same like your bare hook trick? It also makes the whole tipped less shiny and does spook the fish much less. It works in clearest of waters with spookiest of fish in my humble experience

    This is the loop method I have always preferred for my surface and bung flies over other methods. I use this method on hoppers, stonefly adults, crickets, beetles and a few others. Great job, my friend.

      Thanks my friend. I need more experience with this. I also wish this was competition legal.

    HI, which foam are you using for the second ant? It seems to have a much more open structure than regular EVA. Thanks in advance!

      Hi, i think its called evazote foam. It is more hollow. It even pops when squeezed with thread. Unfortunately, i cant tell you brand because i got this from a friend. And it was taken literally from package for underwear from Japan.
      Maybe semperfli has some foam that is similar. All others i tried are not near this one.

    I've never have liked tying a a dropper of trailing fly to the shank because I always fish with barbless hook. I have tied hoppers with a mono loop for attaching a dropper and they seem to work fairly well. I did get idea for this from one of your previous videos. I'm guessing that .375 mm equates to about 12lb. leader material? Thanks again and keep making great videos!

      I never used two flies too much. Its a desperate measure for me. I don't like using even two nymphs. But i think i can benefit with this setup. I am not sure about lbs for tippet. But use anything that is robust enough and wont be broken during a lifetime of the fly.

    What tippet to fly know you commonly use? I use mostly non slip loop so even with this great trick I guess loop will not get submerged. However improved klinch could go under surface pushed by hook eye. I will try that.

      I dont use loop knots. I use simple penny knot. It just works better than any other knot i tried. Often the tippet will break away from the knot. Meaning the knot is nearly 100% strong

    What species of fish was that?

    • @Oholisfliesandfishing
      @Oholisfliesandfishing  6 місяців тому

      Latin-scientific name would be spinibarbus hollandi. Its super strong fish for its size. And also very difficult to catch.

    Hi where does yout wife get the glue from regards Norman

    • @Oholisfliesandfishing
      @Oholisfliesandfishing  6 місяців тому +1

      hello, she got this as agift, whole set is very cheap, like 30usd or so with tons of glues. Unfortunately not all is applicable for us. as long as the layer is very thin, coloured ones will cure. So far, clear one works the best. I would dare to say its great. Black one needs a lot of time to cure.
