  • When I read the news of the death of Tim, Amboseli's biggest tusker, for natural causes on February 4th I felt terribly sad and disoriented. He was the individual animal that I have felt the strongest bond with for the last ten years. Since I first saw him on a cold morning in February 2010 in the Acacia woodland among dozens of other Elephants. I watched him court females, mate, chase other males away with just a nod of the head, drink, mud-bathe, dust-bathe, feed relentlessly for hours. I remember when I saw him hang around with Amboseli's other great tusker, his friend Craig, the emotion was so overwhelming that I could hardly photograph properly. I went through my images to live these moments again and decied to collect some of them in this slideshow, my way to remember him and feel his presence once more. Thanks to the Kenya Wildlife Services, Big Life Foundation, Amboseli Trust for Elephants, Sheldrick Wildlife Trust for the immense work to keep him and the other wildlife of Amboseli safe.
