Hey Rob, I basically just did the same thing on my HC-1500. The results were almost identical. After dumping out the fuel I could see "trash" that looked like powder in the fuel line. Took the carb apart and sure enough, the screen was clogged. What happened was the filter had broken down over time and was basically releasing a powder like substance into the carb. Just a thought if you haven't changed the filter, it's worth a try. I also learned recently a new method of cleaning the muffler. I mount the muffler to my big vise and use a propane torch with a flame spreader on the end to burn off all the oil residue. The first time I did this, it filled my entire garage with smoke, but it worked like a charm. That was on the echo backpack blower. Now I am cleaning all of my yard equipment mufflers this way. Better done outdoors. Good luck to you !
Haha! I have the exact same hedge trimmer and did the same thing as you - replaced everything and cleaned the muffler port and screen. But, to no avail - it still boggs when I squeeze the throttle. I'm going to let the shop fix it since it has relatively low hrs; it just has lots of years... I also have the same 5-in-one weather station that is about 5 degrees off..
Hi i have the same Trimmer done same as you. New carb cleaned muffler port and spark arrester same result. So i decided to run it with out the muffler fitted. It ran great but loud. But it showed the engine was fine. Then decided to clean the muffler. Fitted it back it works great even seems to have more power as well. If you still have the trimmer try cleaning the muffler hope it works for you.
there is one of these trimmers on ebay for $60 the seller said it will not run and they bought a new one. that seller is not you is it ? lol i was thinking of getting it, cleaning the carb and hoping for the best, but after watching your video i see maybe that is a bad gamble
Nope it's not me selling it. Just so you know... I replaced the carb with a brand new one and still couldn't get it to run right. It would start but after a few minutes of running it would stall and I couldn't get it running again until it cools down completely. The engine needs a rebuild in my opinion.

tony macdonald thank you for the advice... Unfortunately I already tried that. I think the engine needs to be rebuilt completely
