Love hearing these stories, My Dad helped break in Bob Windham when Bob was living in Portland Texas across the Bridge from Corpus Christi, My Dad shared his stories of Nick Gulas with me, good stuff and Thank you guys for all you have done for the business.
Saw Jerry perform at an indie show at Dodd Stadium in 2018. Him and Mick Foley we're so cool to everyone. One of a kind. RIP Brian Too Sexy Christopher.
i was watchin dennis knights interveiw last night around 130 before i passed out and i saw this and i was like welp i know what im doin in the a.m love u guys thank you john and gereld you guys are amazing keep em coming!
That story about him going to an NWA convention around 78, it shows that some of those guys were smart enough to see that things were going to change 5 or so years down the line. It just always is talked about like they had no clue ,but apparently some of them did
Thank God I grew up as a little kid in the 80s with my happy meal EVERY Saturday morning watching Memphis wrestling in nicholasville Kentucky as my grandma , grandpa , great grandma schooled me on wrestling ! I'm the fan I am because of . Rip Virgil , Pauline and Grace .
My great grandmother Grace Waters two favorite people on earth were George Jones ,and Did Flair . Honorable mention Lawler and the Fabs !!!! And she was 83 then !!!!!! Grandpa dug Thesz , Valients , Johnny Valentine , Fargo and Hart foundation ! Go figure !
Jerry won me over with his WCCW work . Getting exciting matches out of Kerry Von Erich is not an easy thing to convince me of as I was not a Kerry Von Erich fan . I enjoyed his run as the top heel then . Until then I never had the opportunity to see much of his work . I wondered if the hype around Jerry was accurate .
I always thought I was immature collecting all the toys and memorabilia I collect at 44 years old. I thought I'd have to give them up soon then I saw Lawler's at his age, so I guess I'll keep it all.
If for some strange reason Lawler decided to sell all of his, it would probably bring a fortune. Yours might be worth some cash as well if you ever need or decide to sell. I'm doing some guess work here, I don't know for sure.
The match that got me hooked on rasslin was Jerry Jarrett/Jackie Fargo vs Jerry Lawler/Jim White w Sam Bass for the Southern tag titles on Saturday morning TV. Lawler, White and Bass beat Jarrett to a bloody pulp, you can't get that on tv today. I didn't know there was other territories other than thru the magazines until I moved to FL in '79 and found FCW.
@@ApothecaryGrant The talent gap is so wide that I can't even think of another pair of famous brothers to compare it to..... I almost went with Jose and Ozzy Canseco or Sylvester and Frank Stallone, but neither of them are even in the ballpark😂😂😂😂
Gerald Briscoe is correct about the Soup Nazi. He was in two episodes - 'The Soup Nazi' and 'The Finale'. It's a smaller part in The Finale, where he appears in order to testify against Jerry and co., so it's easier to forget.
I know that Jerry Lawler challenged for The NWA World Championship when Jerry Brisco's brother Jack toured Memphis as the Champ. Did Lawler ever feud with Jerry Brisco or JBL as a Storyline anywhere? I don't seem to recall one.🤔B.W.
Please have the king on again! I could listen to him all day long! This podcast made my day!
Love Lawler's story telling!
This is awesome. Thank you JBL and Gerald Brisco.

I grew up in Memphis watching the king slap Jimmy Hart around and having big time throw downs with Bill Dundee. Loved every minute of it!!

WWE extra attitude plays after Raw on the WWE network . They do some wild s**t when the TV camera goes dark
Soup Nazi was in his episode and the series finale.
King said he only wrestled once in Wrestlemania,I have to research which wrestlemania he had a wrestling match.
@Steven Cook thanks for sharing this information about the King.
Soup Nazi was in the finale of Seinfeld plus his original one
Do i remember correctly, Haku becoming King from beating Lawler?
