I love your Uncle's horse understanding!!! He has the wisdom and insight of some of the British and European trainers... "Flexibility," head lowering, "space," softening, etc., the "quiet control"!!!
Good morning! I just wanted to tell you that when some of the comments are a bit silly or borderline disrespectful, you always handle it with such grace and it doesn’t go unnoticed. (Not necessarily on this video, it’s just something I’ve noticed while following your channel:)) thank you for your content and sharing with us! God bless and have a good day!
I like “real world problems” with horses and pressure. This was realistic.I like how he used the lead rope to pressure with driving pressure and release. Best training I have seen on this channel.
Your brother is telling it right. Watch his hand position. When it is time to ride his hands will follow the same angle so the cue remains nearly the same. It is not about man strength but pressure and release, they seek the release and your hand doesn’t move. Horses are nearly always better on one side of the other must ,Ike people, left or right. Consistent flexing is a main foundation block for softness and ultimately control. Teach this to our riding students the first riding lesson. Ground work is very important. This was terrific. Hindquarters are the horse’s engine. Thanks for sharing! EastTexas fan PS. Moving a horse’s feet engages their brain
Hi, Palmer family. Well, I was riveted to this man and his knowledge. I had no idea there were so many facets to training a horse. It's not just getting the animal used to a blanket and a saddle and eventually allowing someone on its back. I love that you (Alan) were struggling with this particular horse, knew it, and sought out help that you knew you'd find in your brother. And quietly in the background, there was our Blake learning and understanding what Levi was teaching. It's just amazing to me. Thank you so much for bringing us along. This was an awesome video for anybody who loves the horse and loves learning about the animal. Hi, Vicki. I know you're there editing and reading the comments. I hope your week is going well. As always, take good care on the farm and stay well.
Wow, your brother Levi could be Blake's twin! Such great training tips and knowledge of how a horse moves, etc. This was valuable for more than just you, I feel like. Thanks for sharing! Heather🇨🇦
Your brother is such a good trainer! They make it look so easy! I've been learning from my trainer as well. I'm learning to notice the subtle differences. It's great you have him to go to for good advice.
@@TheFarmonRoute66 one of my nephews looks more like his uncle than his dad too. Genetics are crazy!! That little filly is gonna make someone a nice little horse. Y'all are awesome!!!
Hello - I s It you running the camera I was just wondering, you can see if you look at Allen’s brother and think it’s Allen WoW he really does look like his older brother and Blake he looks so much like Blake but his voice is so much deeper I suppose that will come also. Sorry for poking around in your family 😆 really I’m just a noisy old lady 👵🏻 no one is safe ! Lol
Respectfully I have learned that the more time we spend on ground work, the less time we spend on the ground. I have learned in my 59 years the difference between approach angles and drive angles.I wasn't smart enough to solicit advice from others but you are! God bless you, peace be with you, stay healthy, patient and confident. Much love and respect from "Flyin M Holistics". God's peace ✌
Awesome video and amazing job seeking tips and tricks!!! With some practice you will have that pretty lil dolly making every move you want her to in no time! Blessings to you all
When disengaging hq, the key to blocking front end movement is raising your hand high towards the eye. Your bro does an exc job of it. Does he have a channel too?
Oh gosh you've opened up a can of worms.... lol Levi is a great horseman. To bad he doesn't live closer you can trade help on the house for lessons on the ground... even trade 💖
I love her name dolly that is my mother's nickname she has passed she would think the horse is beautiful and I think it's beautiful I love its name Dolly plus today was my mother's birthday and I just thought about my mother again because what you all called the horse's name dolly made me think of my mother and this today was her birthday thank you and God bless
Some horses will always go into pressure rather than away from pressure, it's how their brain works. My draft mare goes into pressure and my QH goes away from pressure. I'm not liking the raising of the hand at her face or the hitting and elbowing Dollys face, that can and most likely will make her headshy. It's not her respecting his hand up, she's avoiding being hit again. Everything else explained will help. Dolly is willing and wanting to understand what you're asking so she can please you. She's a keeper. Keep your hand on her back, that will help your balance as well but it also lets you feel her movement. Find what works for you and her and go with it. When I ask for flex without moving a foot, I'll place my free hand and on her wither instead of on her back. The shoulder is the "drive line" you can push a horse forward or make them stop depending where you are positioned to their shoulder. A little secret with knowing if a horse is right or left handed.... their manes fall on their on side. If she's left handed her mane will fall on the left side of her neck. If she's right handed her mane will fall on the right side of her neck. I've learned this to be true finding out which barrel to go to first in barrel racing and it's never failed me!
Not me...no no no I gotta have my macmuffin with the whole hash brown. Im not good at sharing. Lol. Maybe I need to pray about it. But they are so good.
I love your videos. When I second guess myself on my training techniques, I always go back to the basics. I learned a lot by watching Clint Anderson on UA-cam. He is very smart and does a lot of Monty Roberts aka (Horse Whisperer) techniques. The both are the best at what they do in my eyes. Take a look and see what ya think. Keep up the good work. There is always new things you learn everyday!!! 🥰😊
Funny , I know the manager at my local Macdonald’s and he always gives me a hard time ! Wants to know what I did with his flashlight ,lol have bought him 2 at $1 each but I have fun .
That is a pushy filly! You have to wack a bit then reward with release. She is just a dominant mare. You should use a “Handy Stick” because it’s an extension of your hand. As long as you rub her after she gives, you rub away the wack. She will be great. Yes listen to your brother.
Dang she's pretty! Better look out or your brother will turn you into a horse trainer. Oh and Levi and Blake almost look like twins, you're sure that their not the brothers? Really great video!

You need to get the McDonald’s app and get discounts lol ... And yes sir, spoil or non spoil horses will try to work you if you don’t get there head around, but that’s a good lesson and tip from your brother, sucks to put that kinda pressure on them but it’s the only way so they don’t hurt you and run you over .. good video 👍🏼
Training the trainer. You cain't lay hands on her and push her she is stronger than you. Make yourself spend time with her every day. Short days, a full schedule and too many horses is dragging you down. She is a fast learner with a pretty good disposition. You have a habit of wanting to be close to them and not being aggressive when you need to be. I think the key is working with her every day. Neither one of you forgets. Hang in there it will come together.
