It should be far much more. Lovemore was/is a true music legend. Although i was very young growing up in mufakose i remember Magee blasting it out at Garden Party (GP)in kambuzuma before 1980
Just came across this, I'm really touched, my heart aching at the same time for this musical legend. A true musical giant whose music career suffered tribal differences.
Lovemore majaivana's music goes beyond tribal lines, I was born and bred in Harare but even today when I listen to umoya wami, It takes me close to the city of kings. I hope and pray that we will be able to live together as Zimbabweans one day not as shonas and Ndebeles.
I love Majaivana. He is one person who inspired me to learn Isindebele, I really wanted to connect the beautiful instrument with the meaning of the lyrics, can do basic conversation now. One of the greatest musicians of our time!
Majee phenduka we need u some of us were young wen u bid farewell now we relate to ur songs, those close to him pliz lisincengele aphenduke. We miss u lovemore just make one appearance kodwa lokhu
Just hearing his voice, brings those old memories. I wish he can come back once nje koByo iBF iyagcwana mfi, mina I can bring the entire family labesekhaya ngingabathumela i$ ukuthi babuye bezozibonela.Sasibangcane during those days shame. His music was so prophetic . True legend MaJi❤
Am glad you are a man of God now, l personally will be glad to come to Church to a hymn started by you may be recorded, but now for the Kingdom and not for anything else.
I hardly speak Ndebele. But in our house my father had probably all Majaivana's LPs. Remains one of my favourite Zimbabwe musicians. Thank you for the music Majii
Hi Chishamiso, I know of a person collecting Zimbabwean LP vinyls and plays decent money for each LP. As long the LP is in good condition. Please email moyoss1981@gmail.com. Good luck, hope your dad still has them.
He is my best of the best, although, iam from manically, heavy, heavy mkoma magee, you remind me of my late mother, I can play your music throughout the whole day, thank you so much...

I personally think Lovemore Majaivana gave up easily. I remember he held a show in Harare backed by the Black Spirits at the 7 Arts Theatre. If he had continued working like that things could have turned out differently. He was very talented and played quality music. Well, I respect the decision he made because nobody knows better what he was going through except himself.
Such a gentleman, l remember me and my sister going to one of his shows in Marondera. We were young and innocent and probably one of our first night shows. After the concert he was talking to everyone, and by chance he got talking to us and he found out that we had walked a bit of a distance to attend his show, and by now it was in the wee hours of the morning. He offered to walk us back to our student residence and he stayed for about an hour - just talking to us and asking us about our education and career choices, not for a second did he talk about anything sexual- remember we were very pretty young and naive girls. He made sure we were home and safe and he said his goodbye's and walked back to his hotel in the early hours of the morning. Much respect for him.
Certainly one of the Greats of the Zim music scene. It was alway a happy experience at the studio during his recording sessions and I never understood why his music didn’t sell more than it did. Sorry to see him leave music but I do hope he is leading a happy life these days.
@Zazise, brilliant job. Wenze umsebenzi omuhle. Ngingumntwama weMzilikazi. I know the familu so well. Went to school with one of his sisters, Pretty. Jonah, the last born in the family was a good friend. Akim, a.k.a. Sangano, loRachel. When ever I visit home I still see uPeter loLucy, we talk we laugh. What a LIVING LEGEND. I play his music in my car. I still listen to his music. I LOVE YOUR MUSIC. ❤ Did you know that he did a lot for the ANC?
Hi Jenthro Chimanga Thank you so much. I’m glad you loved my attempt at telling Majaivana’s story. In my research I did find a few mentions that spoke about his work with the ANC but I didn’t get enough information.
By will of God Maji will come back to perform in Zimbabwe and l will open my on band because of him and l will sing all his songs. This is my prayer to God from Lowani Nyoni in Victoria falls Zimbabwe Chinotimba bicycle shop0neway.
Its greed, the fact that they want S*** to be the the only recognized language in Zim s disgusting.some Countries are so proud to have over 500 different languages but Zim🤔
I really understand clearly his reason for quitting music, finances and segregation. Surely yes, it can be frustrating and withdrawing. But i loved majiis songs though i am shona and could not well understand ndebele. Shalom
Majaivana l know kawungazi kodwa ngahlangana lawe eGwanda endlini yomzawami owayezalwa komaNyathi njengawe.Abantu bakoMthwakazi bayakudinga, ake ubenzele iShow eyokucina ubavalelise,koBulawayo,eJohannesburg kanye lalapha eNgilandi.I am man of God also njengawe.Arrange with a few guitarists that know how to play your songs, then at the end of all your shows, share the word of God with your audience.l am very certain that the turn out of people who will come to see you will surprise you. Please,do this without fail, you will never know how many people will give their lives to Christ before you conclude your shows.
You never know, but there are many ways of sharing the gospel kkk. I think he has been mature not to use is natural talents to lure people into the kingdom and then blur the lines that occur when money is mixed with ministry.
We miss you Lovemore we don't blame you but the system and society failed you ,we hope one day you'll come back home all we want is to see you and celebrate you
So Majaivana left music because of tribes? He mentions at the end in an older interview that he didn’t see any musician making it in Zimbabwe. I think MaGee gave up in the late 90s just when he should have stuck it out like Tuku did. I also think he had no idea how his music was popular with Shona speakers then and today. Someone must actually inform him that if he were to return for shows in Zimbabwe tomorrow he will sing to sellout crowds both In Matebeleland and Mashonaland and collect a ton of cash . We think he deserves a monument. as long as people know he is still alive they will always have you on their minds but the man is “hiding”.
I grew up in a Harare township. Lovemore Majaivana was loved as much as Thomas Mapfumo and Tuku. My Mother loved Majaivana and bought all his music even though she wasn't a Ndebele speaker. Harare loved Majaivana
Indeed he was/is loved! I grew up in Harare and my pops though he was NDEBELE and mum Shona! But we could be listening to his songs zvakadaro and other households too! Too bad there was no internet yekuti munhu azive kuti vanhu vanonakirwa
Mdara airova ma number uyu. Learnt Ndebele listening to his songs. Living legend!
