International Rock & Metal Band A HERO FOR THE WORLD from Sweden & the Philippines released November 9th 2018 a new Christmas album called "Winter is Here (A Holiday Rock Opera Pt. 2)".
It is the awaited follow-up to the "Winter is Coming - A Holiday Rock Opera"-album, released 5 years ago.
The album features more than a dozen brand new recordings of more or less well-known Christmas and Winter songs. Recorded in the signature Symphonic and Cinematic epic & fun Rock and Power Metal style of the Band.
The title song "Winter is Here" is a new original song written by Jacob Kaasgaard; continuing the unexpected "Game of Thrones"-theme of the title song on the "Winter is Coming"-album. It is a power ballad about the TV show's character "Bran Stark", with some nerdy alternative fan theories about who is the real night king (come next Summer we shall all know anyway).
The songs "Hosianna / Ack Värmeland, Du Sköna / Himlen i Min Famn" marks the first time we hear Jacob sing in his native tongue of Swedish.
The cheery song "Sound of Life" is a cover of Jose Mari Chan, known as the "Father of Philippine Christmas Music". This song recording marks the first time that a European band covers a Filipino artist.
About the epic song "The Lord's Prayer", Jacob says:
"Inspired by Andrea Bocelli's awesome version, I knew I couldn't make a similar version to his sound even half as good. So, as I sometimes do (and did with "O Holy Night" years ago), I let the arrangement build to even higher notes towards the end."
He continues:
"I had great fun recording this album, and really got in to the festive spirit that week.
The song "Campanas de Belén" is the first time I sing a whole song in Spanish. I first heard it and learned the lyrics last year in a local Spanish class in Spain."
And, "Thanks to Felipe Gruber for the epic rhythm guitars. You will hear more of him on the upcoming space-themed album West to East Part 2 next year."
