My first grow charlie brown Christmas tree looked better than my plant lol "Gold Leaf" strain watching listening to any grow video I came across just like going to school and learning different ways growers maintain their garden I've seen my mistakes and corrected them I want to give thanks to all that showed and shared their knowledge for others to learn and go in the right direction.
I think a big part of hydro becoming popular is less waste. Soil growing creates a lot of waste if you don’t know what to do with it (recycling soil). A lot of growers I know, to this day, still throw away their soil at the end of every run. In fact, in the industry it’s the standard in some states. You’re required to waste all medium in Nevada for example, which has been a big issue for Steve Cantwell at GLP with his living soil operation.
Just missed the Livestream. CRI of HPS was 22, with MH around 70, I believe. These were always shown by CMH lamp sellers, when I used them. The CMH's were often around a CRI of 98. But CRI is used more with photography and film, and relates to how humans see things, like Lumens represent the intensity of what the human eye can see, not the plants. With LED's, the light that plants take in, called PAR, is stronger at 80 CRI, than it is at 90 CRI. Why..?! IDK exactly, but Shane, of MIGRO was explaining this very clearly. I'll have to re find that episode, and edit the name into here. It was a pretty deep dive episode.👍💯✌️

I’m 28 so my answer isn’t as interesting… but my first grow I saw was my job. Like 5 years ago I decided I wanted a career in cannabis, started by trimming. It blew my mind how amazing the plants looked. Photos do it no justice. I’m actually back working at that same grow I started at as IPM, 5 years later! It’s nice to be able to stay where you first gained your passion. It’s not the best setup, but it’s nice to be helping out. A lot of commercial growers get really jaded over their lack of control. The less you try to control, the more fun it is. Gotta just admit to yourself that it’s not yours BUT still have to take ownership over your work. It’s a hard contradiction to swallow.
That’s craaaaaaaazy, my very first grow was 4 of those vanity strips with the splitter on each (32 total bulbs) with some seeds from what we can in Houston “Reggie”, Mexican brick basically 😎
Same thing to your east over by Forest Lake. This has been surprisingly easy so far after all the scare stories about how difficult growing is supposed to be.

One photo and a few autos with small lights so it's easier to control temp and humidity. I do it for the medicine because everything hurts these days. Started growing in 1997 with HPS from book store that had shut down. Seeds from cannabis we bought in holland. Cloned with glass of water and kept clones with halogens. Man they would strech with halogen lamps! No interntet, all the infor we had for growing was from books. Two of us ended up with PhDs in botany. Don´t know if its because I´m old school, but I preffer double ended Ceramic Metal Halide to LEDs. Only use LEDs during the summer. I still think plants like CMH more than LEDs.
I started the same year after a trip to Amsterdam where I was at the good place at the right time in cannabis museum when Sensiseed guys brought the high time cannabis cup they won for Jack Herer and when they filled it with seeds a lots fell on the floor I helped and they gave me some...I only use those from 97 to 2006 outdoor first for 8 years and in 2005 I started indoor... I use LEDs since 2014 when I DIY my first cxb3590 CD @1400mA panels and since I never stopped using it I just changed for always more effective and efficient diodes...my last hps crop I was pulling 0.8gpw on average then with led I pulled 1,3gpw on average now with Samsung lm301h it's 1.7/1.8gpw and with the new EVO 2gpw barrier is reachable (no a/c no co2 organic living soil and amendments no liquid nutes from seeds!)...my grow technique SCROG and the fact that I live on French Riviera explain why I have better results with LEDs! Colder environment must have better results with hps or cmh...and multiple topping technique may use vertical lighting as plants are so tall!
It’s because of CRI as mentioned in the pod. Basically, CMH has the best of both worlds. It’s the closest to LED CRI whilst still producing UV light that LED can’t. It’s really probably the best light to use when you need radiative heat, as you mentioned. In cool conditions they kick ass. Buuuut, if you want to keep it cool LED is close enough and achieves lower temps. LED is getting closer to CMH now that they have UV producing LED lights. I predict within the next 5 years they will officially top CMH on every metric.
@@loganleborgne420Im south of you and and on an island and winters are still too cold for LEDs. Tried using propane to warm grow room but its just cheaper and less of a hassle to run CMH. Those numbers are impressive btw! I´ve never passed the 1g/W except when growing Kush type plants wich I don´t really enjoy to smoke so I avoid growing them. Its for personal use so yield is not much of an issue. Growing Haze and obtaining around 0.8g/W
I use to do gravity bongs when i was in college. I was so proud when my son in college busted out the gravity bong with his friends! 😂 we used a bathtub & a big water bottle. Amazing laughter and good times

In 1983 in UK there were no light shops and peeps us aquarium flouros first Halide i got in 86 no seed banks except sensi seeds and positronics so I went to Mendocino and got the best Cali Orange then crossed it with Nevills original Silver Haze to this day I have not smoked anything as strong sadly lost the strain thanks to the LAW bstds but I must be a great grandfather of the UK scene .Love the show

The focus on hydro in the 90s early 00s stems from the Dutch agricultural industry. They have been in the forefront of using hydro and tech in big ag for decades. This is even backed by Kyle Kushman VS Arjan Roskam, who were competing against each other back in the day. Kyle grew in soil and Arjan grew in hydro
Banner knows what's up, Texas BBQ is the best,especially our brisket and beef ribs. Kentucky and Carolina do pork ribs and pork butt pretty good, but we can't forget where the bar- b-q ranch was from, and where low and slow smoking originated. Outside of Texas smoked meats are just smoked meats, BBQ is Texas traditional.
Austin has Franklin's, and they are pretty famous, but you want the actual best, check out hurtados. Brandon is awesome, and his beef ribs are even better than mine. The best pit master we have is James bright, but he doesn't have his shop anymore unfortunately.
