Love these ideas! Every year we make the paper plate mishloach manot baskets. Never thought about it being eco friendly too! As always, thanks for the inspiration!
I am oooohing and aaaahing at the beauty of your presentation. And the delectable food offerings.... Soooo gorgeous. And mouthwatering!! I love your packaging ideas....love the images you used to make the envelopes! So artistic!!....(.These need to be in a book!) If I were a recipient of one of these I'd be thrilled. Love how your baby girl helped herself to a hamenstachen. I buy some nice food packaging at a restaurant supply near me. I got 1000 paper (greaseproof) french fry bags, the small ones were $10 for a thousand, and the large ones were $20 for 1000...they are not as nice as glassine bags (which I love) but they are white paper and useful for many things besides french fries. They also have large wax paper sheets that are red and white checked or black and white checked...a bit pricier but still a good deal. There are other paper products as well...cute white paper trays that hold hot dogs,...btw: love the paper plate basket...
Thank you!!! You have a beautiful aesthetic as well -- I always love your suggestions and comments. Indeed, I've been learning a lot about the varying prices for packaging through this video. Obviously, I LOVE the free choices, like the jars or reusing paper we have for the envelopes (for those I used a WSJ magazine...they always have such gorgeous photography!). The glassine bags are reasonable enough -- I buy them in 100 packs, and several I picked up new, and unopened, at the thrift store, for 50 cents a package, so that was a GREAT option. At Michaels this week I found 100 packs of plastic bakery bags, in a size I was considering, and they were over $5 per package. I really wring my hands at spending money (and a lot of money, really) for something that will become trash. When I can do it, I prefer to spend a little bit more for the environmentally responsible option, or to spend less, and do the work of folding or twisting and tying things shut (like using plain old waxed paper and a ribbon). Restaurant supply stores is a FABULOUS SUGGESTION! Thank you for that one! As for the baby, she is my #1 hamantaschen eater. I also have been driving around town with a big tupperware full of my "uglies" -- the cookies that open up in the oven or have lost a lot of filling, and she enjoys eating them -- this week I actually ran out of my car and handed the whole container through someone else's car window in the carpool line. This Purim planning has been a ton of work, but also a great joy! I just finished delivering a huge batch to school yesterday, and slept like a log last night, so now I'm ready to tackle my weekend and more holiday prep. Happy Saturday to you!!!
I wish I was one of your neighbors!! Haha But in all seriousness, another lovely and creative video! Thank you for sharing. Your baskets are so colorful, and the cookies look DELICIOUS! 😋 Cream cheese is on my grocery list this week. I can't wait to try your recipe!! I have been working on Purim cards this week, and guess what??!! They're shaped like hamantaschen!! I love it!! ♥
I feel that way about you too, Raquel! I also have a bay area friend who I wring my hands over regularly -- she too has all those wonderful "neighbor qualities" like making a great pot of coffee, planting a glorious garden (always overproducing), being great with pets and kids, making a beautiful home, tons of DIY skills...I could go on and on! I'm sure YOU are the neighbor everyone loves in your area!!! I would LOVE to see your cards, and hear how those cookies turn out. I'm so touched to hear it! If you end up doing a vlog of the Purim/bday celebration, I will be watching with baited breath! p.s. if you caught my "Budget Hanukkah" video, I made latke cards for a party invitation...I had thought about Hamantaschen ones, but haven't tried. I imagine they are SO SO CUTE!!!! Ah!! The idea just delights me! Thank you so much for sharing!
This is awesome, love that you included footage from the store. The pineapple juice is so genius, these are such thoughtful ways to share treats. Thanks for working on this together!
I love that you love the juice too!!! My husband grew up on Dole products, living abroad as a kid -- we even had pineapple juice as a mixer at our brunch wedding! I am SO DELIGHTED to have worked on this project with you! Always a pleasure! Thank YOU!
I saw a thread on Facebook where folks were wanting to bring back the simple MM. it was awesome! (I wish I could remember but I think it was a Purim focused group). How does the waxed cloth handle when it’s hot and humid? That’s why I haven’t bought some yet.
Oh! That makes me so happy to hear! I think there are so many "old school" traditions from my childhood that I wish were in vogue again. Maybe that's coming through on my channels. As for the Bees Wrap, I'm just getting to use it, so I'm not very experienced. What I will say is that it has strict instructions for washing using only cold water. In warmer temperatures, I would suggest that it be used in a bag with an ice pack or along with a cold or frozen drink bottle. I LOVE that it smells of beeswax. It is very firm and sticky now, but I anticipate it will get a bit wrinkly and pliable with use. There are some smaller packages that are less expensive, though I went for the multipacks (costly, since I was buying more, but a good value all in all, since I was buying for several gifts). In hindsight, I think the larger sized sheets are most useful for someone like me - good for wrapping items, or covering an open bowl or baking pan. I do also like the idea of the sheets with the string closure (designed for sandwiches), but am not sure how they hold up long term, compared to regular sheets. These sorts of eco-friendly products have a lot of cache where I live, so I felt it was a nice addition for my closer MM recipients. I know that it will be a chance for them to learn something and try something new, and hopefully reduce their single use plastic use, if they like it. :)
Love these ideas thank you
I'm so delighted you watched. Would love to hear what you end up packing in yours this year! Happy Purim! :)
