The opening scene where Hitler is walking his dog at in the Bavarian Alps to his mountain at Berchtesgaden back down the steps to his home to his mountain retreat at Eagles Nest 0:01-0:32 looked very much like the real Hitler.
His mountain retreat was the Berghoff. The Eagle's Nest was a Tea Room on top of a nearby mountain that Hitler visited a couple of times while at the Berghoff.

Many Actors have played Hitler on film. But in my humble opinion the greatest portrayal was by the great American actor Richard Basehart in the 1962 film HITLER. He was so realistic in looks and mannerisms.

In his book, War of the World, Niall Ferguson compared Hitler's Eagle's Nest to Saruon's Dark Tower of Barad Dur, and Hitler as Sauron, the Dark Lord of Mordor himself, which would make Mordor, Hitler's Germany.

Hitler did not like the Eagle's Nest and rarely went up there. I doubt if he was up there for that attempt, but will look into it. I recognized it immediately because I was there a few years ago, in those very rooms in the movie.
Discovered this yesterday via research on Eichmann. Got a brilliant scene with John Geilgud and got curious as to what the source was. Turns out there's 12 episodes 3 hours each. Hope they're good cos I keep seeing a lot of great scenes.
You also have to watch The Winds of War, the original series which is seven parts long. The first three are 3 hours each and the final four are 2 hours each.

Hardy Kruger played the Rommel part well but his head is too fat. Hardy was more like Walther Model.

If you're wantin to know how far the d-day ships had to sail, most ships sailed from Portsmouth to the invasion beaches in 1944, so you're talkin about 60 miles, the journey took about 4-5 hours
This is the scene I remembered watching from my childhood, that portrayed the aborted attempted at Eagle's Nest. All other film portrayals of the july 20 plot didn't include it, that until I found this clip on youtube again I thought I had hallucinated this scene. Valkyrie 2008 is only one that included the first attempt but set it at Wolf's Lair, same as the eventual one. In Valkyrie they did visit the Eagle's Nest to get Hitler's signature.

The fictional Genral Armin von Roon took no part in any conspriracies to assasinate Hitler. I thought he would after reading and watching WINDS OF WAR. I don't see what point of him being in this series.
I'm only question the second explosive in this discussion because of it's importance because it could had changed everything & perhaps it could had ended the war much earlier & most of all the Americans with the English perhaps could had be first present in Berlin before the Russians could come even closer & set up their foot in there with all conseguncies that follow later on cold war e t c .of course this is only a possibility to discuss of what could had be happened had the colonel been more relaxed & therefore was abled to placed the second explosive in his brif case then after all of that Hitler survived he just escaped destruction & then as we know dozen& dozen officers executed & Hitler continuing searching for more until the end of the war therefore as a result his inability to place the second bomb in his brif case because of his state of his mentality at this specific & critical moment in German history & there after his faithful decision let this monster to continue his dark killings .
Yeah but wasn't it agreed at that Yalta conference that the USSR could have Berlin? I know that came after the july 44 bomb plot, but I reckon Churchill & Roosevelt would still have told Stalin Berlin was his? And the death of Adolf might have meant peace with the western Allies, but Stalin might still have insisted on Berlin? The show "Myth Busters" explored the possibility of everyone in that conference room getting killed if both bombs had been present. Most certainly Hitler would have been killed, but I believe that Roosevelt had made up his mind that nothing short of unconditional surrender would have been accepted so it appears that Hitler's death would have meant nothing. I also believe that the allies considered a living Hitler making rash military decisions a lot better for them than a dead Hitler.
Scenario question: The bomb goes off that May 30th, 1944. Does a new Germany still oppose the Western Allies’ Operation Overlord or does it not and sends the main bulk of its entire armed forces in France, Italy, and Norway to the Eastern Front???

It would have made no difference on the battlefield. Roosevelt made things clear at Casablanca in 1943: unconditional surrender. Also the Soviets wanted revenge. The only big positive aspects would have been that the Holocaust would have ended in 1944 and hundreds of thousands of soldiers and civilians would have lived due to the end of the war in Europe in 1944 not in 1945.

It's difficult to judge however I'm of the opinion that the value of the A_ bomb in the hands of the Americans could bring out the bolshevists & Patton could resumes his offensive attack & run straight in the heart of Germany I don't wanted to believe that they we're afraid of the Russians the allies with their A/F were super strong & can do the kicking in the pans actually they did in the Balkans few times & let them know who runs the show on the air so the fact that the allies didn't advanced to grab Berlin the capital of Germany for phychological reasons remain in history and opened question.

Both were good
+Joe Eagle Kruger seems to be a bit stocky and has a full head of hair; Rommel had what is called a "horseshoe."
I prefer Robert Hossein in "The Battle of El Alamein" and Karl Michael Vogler in "Patton" to either of them.
