@@mollyrosedrums follow up. Got it quickly from Sweetwater and my rep called me to make sure that I got it. The personal touches at Sweetwater just blow me away. Anyway, it took me a little time to separate the higher register overtones from the actual tones. Once I figured it out it went so quickly I couldn't believe it. Great recommendation, Molly. Thanks!
I appreciate the humility and honesty in the video. It was easy to comprehend and I am very appreciative of this video and Molly's presentation style. Thank you
I came across your channel because I've been researching about the Tune Bot. At first, I thought about getting the Dial Tuner but, after watching this video I am convinced of getting one. Now, I'm a singer songwriter for Mexican romantic music of my own music and I only record my music and I've been recording here in my living room at home. Now, I'm no professional drummer at all but, I can hang in there and get a good recording and 3 years ago, I bought a 6 piece Rainforest Burst MAPEX ARMORY and I put on Pinstrip REMO Heads and I also replaced the Reso heads. I really can't express how great it sounds. So, I really can't wait to purchase the Tune Bot. Thank you very much for this great video you upload and keep doing your great work. Blessings to you.
i own a recording studio and have always tuned drums by ear (or just trusted the drummer i'm recording) but damn the tune-bot has REALLY improved the sounds i get in the studio!
Amazing sound. Thank you so much to explain so good how to tune the pieces of your drum using tunebot. I going to buy this device to improve sound of my drum. I am a gospel drummer. Greetings from Brazil.
Just bought a tune bot today. I played drums on and off since I was in my mid teen years, never have I properly learned or knew how to properly tune a drum. Anyways, I tuned my snare today and I’m absolutely impressed by the results, I love my new tune bot, best investment as a drummer imo.
I never realized how much there was to the Tune Bot and how it's actual simple to work through! I've been tuning by ear pretty decently but this video convinced me that I can use it to lock in my toms for my full potential, considering I'm using massive drums too.
Great tutorial and review! Just ordered a tunebot and was looking for a nice Utube video. Yours is by far the best I found. Lovely suggestion about looking on the website to check out the tuning intervals. I’ve been on there for an hour now after finishing your video looking at all that beautiful Math. Much appreciated!!
Heck yeah, just got one of these, and I’m spending the day getting my sea legs with it. I was off to a little bit of a clunky start when I was tuning my snare, but man this tutorial really helped, as I’m moving on to the toms next. I even had to screenshot those settings since I use similar size toms!
You convinced me to buy one. I’ve always tuned top and bottom heads the same. I guess that’s the traditional way but I’m looking forward to trying new tunings and variations. Love your videos Molly!!
Just ordered a tunebot. I've never been able to tune to what I want it sound like. Really enjoyed your review. Time to subscribe and watch some more of your vids. Thanks. 🤟
Holy shit. Your 12" is tuned higher than my 10" tom. :D Had a long talk with couple of my drummer friends and we found out that tuning your set in perfect 4's (between batter/reso and the drums to each other) gives a very nice musical element to the set.
Beautiful kit! I also have an Armory with the BP Persuader. I did the tighten till you get the wrinkles out and tune by ear thing recently and liked the results. Although not the same, I tried the iDrumtune app and couldn't believe the difference in tone. I think used in conjunction with ear tuning is the key. Awesome channel! 🤘🏻
@@mollyrosedrums I love it, check out the Black Panther comparison from Drum Center of Portsmouth if you haven't seen it yet. ua-cam.com/video/tEPUa9Ec81Y/v-deo.htmlsi=qbFU9Uc9SKCiFN6g Love the sound of the Hydro too.
I've never used a tunebot but i habe a drum dial, I habe a pretty good ear for tuning but when I got all the lugs uniform my drums really camento life. Also if you don't use Sleevedwashers on your tension rods get some because they willy help keep your drums in tune
I use the drum-bot every day on tour. You get really fast if you use it often and it also builds your hearing for tuning without it, i would say much more than without it ever could. But the most important fact, if you found a tuning that you like, you can just get the same tuning every fucking time you want it. doesnt matter if you have new heads or tuned it differently for a specific song. its there for you exactly the same every time! - and a bonus, tune your drums with the studio version to keys of the song, for example in the studio! - please Molly do me one favour, before you go on tour -> change the stock resoheads from "made by remo in china" to "made by remo in the US" there is a big! difference between those!
I haven't used one myself but after over 20 years of playing and tuning by ear, I always have trouble with my 10" tom, my 12", 14", 16" are good but I can never get a good sound from a 10" tom
Just ordered one. Drums are not my primary instrument and I have never liked how mine sound. Maybe I missed it, what's the microphone setup you're using during the demonstration?
Im a new drummer. Does it make a difference since you tuned the drum on the floor and not attached to the drum kit. I see with both have Mapex drum sets.
I bought my very first acoustic drum set months ago. I decided to changed the batter heads. Afterwards I realized I have no idea how to tune drums lol. I found an app for my phone that works like this. I have no idea if my drums sound great or terrible. I do know they are loud. I seriously underestimated how damn loud drums are 🤷
It’s really not! And once you turn the bottom head you really don’t have to touch it for awhile. I think it takes less time then doing it by ear once you find a hertz you like because then your just trying to hit that number every time!
It's a great tool. I love using mine. If you get a chance, check out some of Kenny Sharrets videos. I took a lesson with him on tuning and it really opened up my eyes to a lot of possibilities. Highly reccomend the perfect fourth interval between reso and batter. Great setting that most FOH engineers will really dig for arenas. Have a good tour!
But I do tune by ear 🤨🧐 😂💖......by matching the head note to some octave of an actual note value on a pitch pipe app 😂😋 So like you, I like to make my toms specific tunings, but you use hertz, and I just go with the letter. Does the tunebot also have a letter and octave option, or is that conversion on the chart on their site? Digging all of that purple.
Hey hey you know I’m not sure! But with e-drums you don’t have to “tune them” the rods are just for how much tension you’d like to add. It doesn’t actually tune them!!
@@mollyrosedrums Thanks for answering ! You actually tune e-drums on the module (really pitching it up&down) ,and for this the tuner should have an input jack ! Does it have one ?

I come from a guitar background and switched to drums late in life. It astounds me that everyone is out there just tuning their drums all willy nilly.
Nice! How did you chose the frequency for the bottom head of the 12" tom? 149/285
This is pretty cool
