Hi Cris. I hope you and your family are well. I waited almost 6 months for the Karve Overlander aluminum to be back in stock and it arrived the other day. Had a great shave with it this past weekend. It was fabulous. Mild yet efficient and the aluminum makes it so easy to manoeuver. The lather channels are fantastic and the grip is excellent. Overall, I am glad I bought this razor based mostly on your recommendation. Thanks again for all you do for the traditional wet-shaving community.
You are to be commended and admired for your openness about your struggles! Many of us have had, or still have, some difficulties. Stay strong young man! And stay on that medication! Love your very informative videos!
Hi Chris, bought the brass version used, fantastic shaver and much prettier in person than on video or on their site. It's so effortless that it reminds me of another Canadian - the Hawk V3 A with a Feather ProGuard blade. Shaved a ton with both, never got a knick or so much as a little irritation. Wish you all the best and it is truly amazing seeing someone speaking about mental health so effortlessly as you did. Thanks for being so open and helping to reduce the stygma associated with it. All the best from Portugal!!
I am so glad that you are on antidepressants and that they are already working for you, mate. I have been on them for about 8 months now and my life has changed. I now know what it feels like to be happy for no reason at all. Depending on what you are taking, you might get a month of extreme exuberance before evening out.
No arguments from me about the AL Overlander, top quality machining and perfect mildness and efficiency combination IMO, some shavers have been calling it the GoatLander for good reason. 👍🤠🤟
Great shave there, and it’s great to see another good looking option for DEs. I’m also very glad to hear that you’re feeling better, and always good to catch yourself smiling more.
Wow what a razor. Karve certainly know their stuff on how to make an exceptional razor. Pleased to hear you are feeling better with the medication. You are right, no stigma in seeking help, or medication when it's needed, pointless suffering when there is help out there.
Have you tried Lothur Grooming shave soap? It is easy to lather, has great slickness, and the post shave is incredible. The Karve Overlander aluminum has been out of stock for about 5 months; waiting patiently.
Wonderful! I’m so glad you like it so much. I’ve been itching to see what you thought of it as it’s right up your alley in terms of mildness/efficiency. I have the brass and aluminium Overlander and they are competing with the Rockwell 6S on plate 4 for my number one. The Overlander is certainly more comfortable but I think the Rockwell 4 plate has added efficiency while still being really comfortable compared to most other razors. I have far more experience with the Rockwell though so need to keep experimenting!! Also very glad to hear your mental health is on the up! I know what it’s like to take my frustrations out on the people I love the most and it’s a shit place to be x
Try using more of a vigorous "back and forth" motion rather than a circular motion. Guaranteed you will build way more lather on your face. Then keep adding a bit of water to the brush. Try it. It works for me. Glad the meds have turned you into a smiley face.
I had irritation the first shave with the brass Overlander. I attribute that to reading the forums beforehand needing a very steep angle and I was prob applying too much pressure thinking it wasn’t cutting and not having right angle. It took a few shaves for the angle to be automatic. Blade Clamping is great and lather channels are better than CB. I am enjoying it now. It has not replaced CB as my #1 but is very good. The D plate is a touch more efficient and I like the plate options. It’ll be good when Chris does the Overlander in SS but I will likely just keep the brass.
Do you mind if I ask what medication you are taking? Anxiety and panic has been kicking my arse of late and I'm toying with the idea of a different approach.
According to "Red Island Shaver", he believes the Overlander has the feel of a B plate on the Christopher Bradley, but the efficiency of a C or D plate.
Now I’m seriously interested! Heard many good reviews, but was eager to hear yours , didn’t didn’t anything would knock karve CB off top spot for you Cris , Like you I love my karve cb and have been hoping they produce the overlander in stainless steel , don’t know how much more patient I can be lol What plate on the karve CB compares to the overlander? Ps it’s great to see your channel active again good luck mate
It feels like an A plate to me but easily efficient like a C or D plate! The angle takes some time to get used to! Holy shit it’s smooth though! I have been at Chris already to get this thing made in Stainless and titanium! I know stainless is on the way! Not sure how far away though!
I've got the brass Overlander and it likely is the best razor I have but it does have 2 flaws. Brass is a very tacky to the touch metal and I find you don't have lather on the area to be shaved it's drags like heck. On 99% of my shave that's fine, but I define a cheekline on my beard so I need to wipe lather off to see the line and the Overlander is the only razor I can't perform this with. The other flaw is cosmetic, it's needs constant polishing as my brass razor patinas in a very unaesthetic manner. It becomes quite ugly.
@@AnotherCutAbove I don't think you experience any drag with the aluminium Overlander, i suspect it's mostly the feel of the brass that exaggerates the flat shaving angle.

To me the key with the Overlander is it clamps the blade superbly and subsequently leads to no blade chatter whatsoever, simply superb 👌
Hey Cris. We miss you and your great videos.
Hi John here waiting on. My black red overkander to arrive today excited
Another great shave! I have found my gold standard in razors!
You sharing your struggles is refreshing; I have suffered from depression in the past as well. Love your videos.

Karve Overlander and the Aylesworth Drakkant are the two top razors I have used. Great designs.
Great review on the razor and products. It's good to hear that despite adversity you're moving in a positive direction. Thank you for sharing.
Great that the meds are kicking in and your feeling better. The Overlander is now you're number 1. That's my guess! 😊🍻
Easily!
Merry Christmas to you and your family.

I was just thinking you were one of the first ones online to use the Zingari man soaps now she’s real popular
Very good soap! I’ve only tried the one scent though!
How long is the handle you have on the overlander
What knot is on the brush ?
It’s a boss knot or a gamechanger or whatever it’s called now 😂
Do you mind if I ask what medication you are taking? Anxiety and panic has been kicking my arse of late and I'm toying with the idea of a different approach.
I’ve been started on 50mg of sertraline which I believe is more commonly known as Zoloft.
@@AnotherCutAbove thanks for sharing mate, I'll maybe speak to the doc about whether meds can help with my anxiety.

Yeah I would probably agree with that, I’m laid here 18 hours later and still bbs on my bottom lip!

There is a comparison on the YT channel called "Red Island Shaver". He compares the Karve CB "B plate" to the Overlander.

Yeah I’m not a major fan of brass and copper for that reason! I like my things to remain looking new and not patina over time.
I haven’t really experience this drag feel as yet but I’m going to keep a feel out for it now!
