Tom I love you so much, but Rainbow Road is a level in Mario Kart. Rainbow Bridge is for dogs/cats/birds/etc. I call it the Big Roach Pile in the Sky :) That Xenesthis intermedia is absolutely stunning, I'm planning to do some pairing coming up and not to count my spiderlings before they hatch but this may be something where I trade the whole sac for a Xen sling. Loved your Lasiodorides sp. that was absolutely adorable! Also, I relistened to the podcast about curtain web spiders and I thiiiink it may be time for me to get one! A few of my vendors have sericata so I'm looking at that! HAAHHAAH You and Billie are so funny! You guys are couple goals for sure! @@TomsBigSpiders :p you're going to be even more offended when you find out i gave her away a couple of weeks ago. It was my friend's dream species and I couldn't think of a better birthday present. I'm gagging at my own generosity. Do you ever do that? Give away spiders just because you have a lot of them and you know it'll make someone sooo happy?
Hi Tom! Thank you for the great video. I’ve only got one Xenestis, but I’m super glad I picked the intermedia. Stunning and one of my favorites in my collection. For sure like to see some of the species in my collection in your videos. Quick question, I’ve got a Dubia colony going and was curious to know how you know if you have an older female Dubia?
My female Xenesthis sp white died at about 5”. She molted and lost her fangs and she survived till she molted again. Then a few months later she stopped eating and then died
Love seeing all the beautiful spiders. No matter what color they always amaze me. My family tell me if I get a spider I would have to find another place to live. So these videos make me happy. Thanks for this video.💙
Tom I really enjoyed this video and most of all of them I've learned so much from you about different breeds of the best tips on husbandry thank you sir
Lots of beauties there, Tom ! Loved seeing the G. rosea and T. vagans especially. Will need to experience the latter at some point. Stay safe and thanks for sharing :)
Just wanted to say a big thank you from sweden. You are a big inspiration. I only have 35 spiders from 16 different different species. but i blame you for not having more, or less. because my current amount is just perfect for my schedule. have a nice weekend.
Thx for the video Tom, it's great to see them all in "action" and Xenesthis sp. is always a eyecatcher! But I also enjoyed to see the T.vagans , they are really underrated. And the little rosea is so gorgeous! It's no secret, as you now, I love Tliltocatl and Grammostola! But all spiders in the video are so beautiful! And I definitley need a Lasiodorides polycuspulatus in my collection! Stunning Spider! Stay save! Greetings Chris 🤘
Hello, Chris! Yeah, I wanted to mix a couple hobby staples in there. The vagans is just stunning. And that L. polycuspulatus has to be seen in person to be truly appreciated. The shots just don't do it justice. As always, thanks so much for taking the time to comment. Have a great weekend!
@@TomsBigSpiders You're most welcome my dude!! 👍 Oh and by the way, on my quest to collect more of the Phornmictopus genus, I finally got a Dominican Purple I've always dreamt about 🤩 For a sling she's super food aggro and really active like the others too 😂
Greetings Tom, I just finished listening to the entire podcast fully through. Such a great podcast for a spider nerd such as myself. I listen every day at work all day, and it helps get me through my day. I will be listening through a second time in full. I just wanted to let you know how much I greatly appreciate what you do for the hobby! Ps. My wife loved the q/a with Billie and can relate to her a ton.😂😂😂
My regalis the other day chased a roach down in her enclosure… with a roach in her fangs it was fantastic to see lol…Somehow my list of “wants” keeps getting longer every time I see another Tom and Billie video .. ugh 😑.. current top 4 on the list are: Grammostola pulchripes Pterinochilus murinus HARPACTIRA PULCHRIPES Poecilotheria rufilata
Fantastic video Tom and Billie seemed to enjoy it alot, And as always Tom every species featured in superb condition, but the T Blondi is absolutely stunning and one i have to get at some stage in the near future.
Awesome vid Tom! Absolutely gorgeous tarantulas 😍 and top notch filming yet again Billie 👌 That was a really interesting point you said about phormictopus auratus not being blue slings I had never heard that before. I just recently got my first auratus sling but mine is looking that blue colour so I’m not sure if I’ll have a surprise phormictopus 🤷♀️ I want to collect as many of the genus as poss anyway so I’m excited to see what the wee guy turns out to be 😊
Hey, Aliza! No, it tended to add to much time to feedings. I start at one side, and work my way around. When one molts, I mark it with a sticky note and feed those spiders an extra time during the week. Slings also get fed once a week.
Hello! Well, I find it to be completely unnecessary; they can find and eat prey on their own and don't need to be spoon fed. But, it's more because they can overshoot the tongs and prey items ending up on a hand or arm (I know a few folks who were bit because of this). They can also grab the tongs with their fangs, cracking or breaking one. Hope that helps!
Hey Tom! Great video as always! I had a question for you. I was looking into getting another tarantula (girlfriend permitting haha) and I wanted your opinion on which to get? I am currently keeping a Brachypelma harmorii, Avicularia avicularia, Tliltocatl albopilosus, Acanthoscurria geneculata, and a Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens. I prefer terrestrial or arboreal new worlds at the moment that are mostly out and about. Please let me know your recommendations! I hope this isn't too much to ask 😁Thanks!
I love the "girlfriend permitting". haha Honestly, it really comes down to your personal preferences. With the ones you have, I would say that you'd be ready for your first Phormictopus species. They eat great, grow quickly, and get big. They are also very easy to keep. As for which species, maybe a P. auratus?
If you wanna actually experience an arboreal Tarantula hunting and actually taking down prey in front of you. Use moths. I use waxworm and hornworm moths. The wingbeats drive them insane
With phormictopus species, does the color on their carapace have any benefits to them in the wild? Or have they just evolved that way?? I wouldn't think bright pink would hide them very well lol
@TomsBigSpiders I hope you see this. I've got 37 Ts currently. Slings, Juveniles and Adults. I've created a pretty decent dubia roach colony because crickets at 17cents a piece are getting way too expensive. Especially because I've also got Geckos, Frogs and a Bearded Dragon. One big problem though: The damn Roaches seem to hide and/or play dead(?) ! My Spiders especially, but not only them, can't seem to find or don't wanna hunt the Dubias. The baby dubias don't seem fat enough for the slings. I give them a meal worm with the head cut off every other day. Any advice on this darn Dubias? Please 🙏
@TomsBigSpiders I commented the same thing on two posts in hopes that you'd see it and have an answer. You ❤️ed both and responded to this one that you think you answered the question already. To my current knowledge and notifications you haven't yet. At least not my question. Maybe someone asked the same thing or something similar 🤔 ? Anyway... at the risk of repeating yourself, I would still very very much appreciate your advice and so would my mini zoo
Aurum is the Latin word for gold. So that T is GOLD not bronze. Bronze is an alloy of copper and copper has a pinkish hue to it. The metals are not the same. That T looks like it has gold covering it. Jet black looks great with the bluish gray forelegs.
Tarantulas are excellent hunters. I drop the prey in, and they eat it. :) Tiny slings, I will sometimes prekill something or drop in a cricket leg. Slings will scavenge feed.
Hi, Brandi. It has dirt on it from its burrow, not mites. Just in case you saw something that I didn't I ran up and examined it with a flashlight. No mite. Thanks!
Hay is your lava tarantula still going I got 3 and need more information on them 2 of mine have dug under I think in pre molt but been some time not seen them
Hey Tom, I just picked up a Lasiodorides striatus sling a couple days ago, and I can’t find much info on them as far as humidity requirements. Do you have any info? Thanks.
Hi, Courney! Some refer to this as the "tarantula happy dance." It's totally normal. Your tarantula is webbing up the ground beneath it in preparation to eat. They will also do this and sometimes wrap up multiple prey items into a "cricket burrito." :)
The Chilobrachys sp electric blue has officially been described by science and is now classified as Chilobrachys natanicharum

Tom I love you so much, but Rainbow Road is a level in Mario Kart. Rainbow Bridge is for dogs/cats/birds/etc. I call it the Big Roach Pile in the Sky :)
That Xenesthis intermedia is absolutely stunning, I'm planning to do some pairing coming up and not to count my spiderlings before they hatch but this may be something where I trade the whole sac for a Xen sling. I do not like when people touch my neck so I would have flipped out! The teal on the femurs of that sp. Salinas are INSANE! Reminds me of the colours on a T. ockerti tbh. Awesome video Tom, keep up the awesome work!

Charlotte, if I want to picture my animals forever driving around in cute little karts, that's my business. Stop stomping on my dreams.
Hahaha Billie already gave me a hard time with this. haha
@@TomsBigSpiders hahahahaha totally fair!!!!!
I can't believe your rosea is 9!! Mine is just about that size or maybe a little bigger and she's 2 1/2!!! I got her as a wee little thing
Oh and because I know you like to hear, I keep my temps 65-75 and I'm not an aggressive feeder.
Girl...stop bragging.
Hahaha I don't know what's wrong with mine - she just doesn't want to grow up! haha And thanks for coming with the temps!
AWESOME !
Thank you, Michael!
That's awesome, Jeff! The X. intermedia is definitely stunning. As for the roaches. I try to watch for the ones that don't have eggsacs for a while.
My female Xenesthis sp white died at about 5”. She molted and lost her fangs and she survived till she molted again. Then a few months later she stopped eating and then died
Ugh. I'm so sorry to hear that, David. I can definitely share in your pain. That's exactly what mine did!
Love seeing all the beautiful spiders. No matter what color they always amaze me. My family tell me if I get a spider I would have to find another place to live. So these videos make me happy. Thanks for this video.💙
Awwwww...that's the way my mom was. As soon as I moved out with Billie, we got a tarantula. haha The time will come! Thank you!
Tom I really enjoyed this video and most of all of them I've learned so much from you about different breeds of the best tips on husbandry thank you sir
Thank you so much, Bruce!
Hello great video feeding Tom
Thanks, Moon! Did you ever send footage of that species that you wanted me to identify? I haven't seen anything...
Great video Tom 🎉 thanks!
Thank you, Angela!
Love the feeding video. I can't wait until my 2 inch X. intermedia sling gets bigger to sport those stunning colors.
Thank you so much! And it shouldn't be too long!
it's just a big brown spider 🤪
You're a big brown hole. hahaha
Great feeding video.
Thank you , Chantal!
Causal pan over to the clean water dish 😂
Great video, as always.
Hahah She's on point. Thanks!
Good photos of lovely spiders. Love the purple bloom spider.
Thank you so much, Michael Nancy!
Lots of beauties there, Tom ! Loved seeing the G. rosea and T. vagans especially. Will need to experience the latter at some point.
Stay safe and thanks for sharing :)
Thanks so much, Luc! I figured that those two might catch your eye. haha Hope all is well!
Great video I enjoyed seeing different species. The Blue Bloom was absolutely the most beautiful tarantula I ever seen.
Thank you so much, Pepper!
Oooo 😮 that X. intermedia is absolutely gorgeous ❤❤❤
Thank you, Melody!
Just wanted to say a big thank you from sweden. You are a big inspiration. I only have 35 spiders from 16 different different species. but i blame you for not having more, or less. because my current amount is just perfect for my schedule. have a nice weekend.
Hello from the US! Thank you so much for the very kind words. Sounds like you have an excellent collection there!
My Phoemictopus auratus finally molted after months!!! I just walked in the check and at first was worried but then i saw the stretches!
Congrats on the molt, that's awesome!
Great stuff ❤ new fan
Thank you so much!
Billie I love your laugh and reactions in the background. Enjoying this video so much ❤
Hahaha Thanks, Tina!!!
I'd love to see an update on those Ephebopus slings. Hopefully there'll be a genus review in the works in a couple years.
VERY soon. I have all four species, and they are going to need rehousings before the year is over!
What an extremely entertaining feeding video!! The Phormictopus and Xenesthis species showing off their stunning looks as always 😍
Thank you so much, Thomas!
@@TomsBigSpiders You're most welcome my dude!! 👍
Oh and by the way, on my quest to collect more of the Phornmictopus genus, I finally got a Dominican Purple I've always dreamt about 🤩 For a sling she's super food aggro and really active like the others too 😂
Greetings Tom, I just finished listening to the entire podcast fully through.
Awesomeness as always!🕷♥️⭐♥️⭐♥️🕷
Thank you, Lisa!
Curly hair tarantulas where I live are $15. Mine is. Pretty large
Wow, that's super inexpensive!
My regalis the other day chased a roach down in her enclosure… with a roach in her fangs it was fantastic to see lol…Somehow my list of “wants” keeps getting longer every time I see another Tom and Billie video .. ugh 😑.. current top 4 on the list are:
Grammostola pulchripes
Pterinochilus murinus
HARPACTIRA PULCHRIPES
Poecilotheria rufilata
And I'm so sorry for that - I know that I probably cost people a lot of money in spider purchases. haha Great list!
Fantastic video Tom and Billie seemed to enjoy it alot, And as always Tom every species featured in superb condition, but the T Blondi is absolutely stunning and one i have to get at some stage in the near future.
Thank you so much, George! We had a blast with this one. :)
I just love feeding videos thanks for sharing awesome video Respect 🫡
Thank you so much, Cooper!
@@TomsBigSpiders your welcome
Great feeding video Tom.really enjoyed it.
Thank youso much, James!
Such a great video! Keeping my eye out for a stirmi yo grow out myself ❤
Thank you, Shannon! And that's awesome!
Great video Tom! Kudos to Billie for the camera work!
Thank you so much from both of us!
Rainbow Bridge ❤️💛💚💙💜
Funny & Great Vid !!
Yeah, Billie already gave me a hard time with that one. I like to picture my deceased animals playing Mario Kart.
Awesome vid Tom! Absolutely gorgeous tarantulas 😍 and top notch filming yet again Billie 👌
That was a really interesting point you said about phormictopus auratus not being blue slings I had never heard that before. I just recently got my first auratus sling but mine is looking that blue colour so I’m not sure if I’ll have a surprise phormictopus 🤷♀️ I want to collect as many of the genus as poss anyway so I’m excited to see what the wee guy turns out to be 😊
Great video! Do you use any software, smartphone app etc to keep tracks of feeding?
Hey, Aliza! No, it tended to add to much time to feedings. I start at one side, and work my way around. When one molts, I mark it with a sticky note and feed those spiders an extra time during the week. Slings also get fed once a week.
great feeding video Tom. Did Billie get a new camera? The clarity and color is fire!!
Thank you so much! No, we changed what we did with the lighting this time! Thank you!
Another great video. Out of curiosity, why do you choose not to tong feed?
"and she's eating the snot outta that roach right there"
Haha She was going to town!
As for which species, maybe a P. auratus?
Are these tarantulas like breeded?? It seems these showed up out of nowhere...just curious
Yes, there are a lot of folks who breed these in captivity.
If you wanna actually experience an arboreal Tarantula hunting and actually taking down prey in front of you. Use moths. I use waxworm and hornworm moths. The wingbeats drive them insane
I'll definitely try that, Bill...thank you!
@@TomsBigSpiders Avics and the Versicolors go ballistic
I have a stirmi who dropped 4 legs and in devastated she eats drinks and is young but im waiting on a molt so badly❤
Hopefully, her next molt goes well!
What are those clear enclosures with the top lid that opens?
What are the original purpose?
Where did you get them
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FPTRL12/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 These?
With phormictopus species, does the color on their carapace have any benefits to them in the wild? Or have they just evolved that way?? I wouldn't think bright pink would hide them very well lol
Hello! I don't think that it really does! It's just how they evolved.
Please 🙏
I think that I might have answered this on another comment?
Thank you so much, Joyce! It's GOLD...end of story! hahaha :)
Ok so im curious im not sure how u feed if u dont tong feed? Im guessing u just drop them in? What about with slings
Tarantulas are excellent hunters. I drop the prey in, and they eat it. :) Tiny slings, I will sometimes prekill something or drop in a cricket leg. Slings will scavenge feed.
Covered in what looks like mites the xenesthis sp Tenebris? Could be why it’s not growing as fast as others. Pretty sure
Hi, Brandi. It has dirt on it from its burrow, not mites. Just in case you saw something that I didn't I ran up and examined it with a flashlight. No mite. Thanks!
Wish my feeding videos went like yours do even if they dont eat at least you get to see them
Hey, my old feeding video were trainwrecks. haha I get it!
@@TomsBigSpiders yea sometimes they like actually make it easy for us lol
Hi mate just wondering how many tarantula species do you have and how many spiders do you have in total ?
Hi, Darren. I currently keep around 250 tarantulas/spiders total with about 140 species.
Hay is your lava tarantula still going I got 3 and need more information on them 2 of mine have dug under I think in pre molt but been some time not seen them
Unfortunately, mine was a male and has since passed. I need to get another.
Hi tom how are you doing
Not bad, Mitchell! How are you?
Just found your channel ... good content thx man.
Thank you so much, Ryan! And welcome!
Hey Tom, I just picked up a Lasiodorides striatus sling a couple days ago, and I can’t find much info on them as far as humidity requirements. Do you have any info? Thanks.
I have to rehouse mine soon, so I'll do a video on it!
my arizona blonde decided to do two dances when i fed it two crickets. do they do that or is it meaning something is wrong with it
Hi, Courney! Some refer to this as the "tarantula happy dance." It's totally normal. Your tarantula is webbing up the ground beneath it in preparation to eat. They will also do this and sometimes wrap up multiple prey items into a "cricket burrito." :)
@@TomsBigSpiders oh okay
