I had a hiring manager during an interview repeatedly look at her phone and even acknowledged messages while the interview was going on. In addition, she had a side conversation with her co-interviewer about one of the messages she received....meanwhile I was trying to answer one of their interview questions. I didn't end up working there but it's always a story I tell about bad interviews/interviewers.

Another great video, Ben!! I no longer care what hiring managers think and feel during an interview process! I'm interviewing them, as much as they are interviewing me, so I want it to be a discussion about my experience, skills and how I can solve their problems. If an interview turns into an interrogation, that's a red flag for me. If the interviewer tries to turn the interview into an exam or test, that's a red flag!

I get that. I still care how they feel because ultimately I want to get to make the call. But I am interviewing them as well for sure. We definitely agree there! And thank you my friend!

Every job I have had, the interview was a conversation, like talking to a friend, and the conversation flowed freely, I was able to relax and be more open.
I never got a job where the interview was an interrogation.

I think that they have often ruled out people the moment they walk through the door.
They often already have someone in mind for the role, so it takes little to rule you out.
It's not what you do, but who you are.

If hiring managers hate candidates being late, maybe they need to be on time as well.

Thank you for the insights, Ben. I have a question. How about when the recruiter is actually the ones asking how many job interviews you're going through and which phase you are in the interview process? Is it safe to tell the truth? Because I get asked a lot and after I sent my reply he said that the job is on hold.

Damn I wish I would have found some of this beforehand but I guess it's better late than never lol
I mainly messed up by not having any questions twice and I messed up on one interview to where they asked what do you know about our company I then answered but then I had a question right after that and they made an issue about it flat out in the interview. That particular job I got a letter a week later saying I was not selected.
