- The 1982 Men's Hockey Asia Cup was the first edition of the Asia Cup organized by Asian Hockey Federation (AHF). It was held in #Karachi, #Pakistan from the 12-20 March 1982 and saw seven teams compete.

Thanks for uploading this gem of a video. The 80s and 90s were the golden eras for Pakistan in sports. I still remember all the memorable wins during this era in hockey, cricket, and squash.
Things started going downhill after 2000s in sports for our country. Still, it was an honor to watch such talented skilled sports players during that golden era.
We were fortunate to be in that era, and I believe the future generation won't experience the thrill, joy, and euphoria of Pakistan winning one major tournament after another.

Pakistan had a lethal forward line in the early 1980s. Can we have more matches on UA-cam like 1982 champions trophy and 1984 Olympics.
They had probably the best ever all time forward line, the world has seen. Decent Neat hockey at its best. The last goal of Hasan Sardar was a real treat to watch. India had very good forwards like Shahid, Charanjit and Mervyn Fernandes, but their combination and coordination were not enough against an outstanding team which was the reigning World, Olympic and Asian games and the Champions trophy champions.
@@chelladurairamesh3526 thanks brother. Yes Pakistan hockey has best winning record overall. Pakistan won 4 times world cup and 3 times runner up. I hope Paksitan will regain its glory in hockey.

Hassan goal ....one of the best I've ever seen!That was the best front five of all time by a mile .Pakistan 78 to 84 one of the best sports team in history. Bit like the Dutch woman now .

India is starting to make progress again with their recent bronze model in the Olympics , but both Pakistan and India should join try to change the rules that are clearly favoring European teams. Dribbling rules have been changed, and goals can be scored even if they are hit outside the D. I like passing, but classic Asian stick work is missing and excessive scooping is encouraged which leads to injuries. The old penalty stroke rule should be back too. I do like the substitution rules, and video replays.
Reason is that india use to loose most often,they have nothing to upload....

I watched the Asia Cup Hockey final between India & Pakistan in Dhaka in 1985 at Dhaka Stadium. I could watch almost all these players from nearby distance. Pak won 3-2 with final goal from Samiullah minute before finish. I remembered brilliant stickwork by players from both teams, especially from Hasan Sardar, in the fully packed stadium. At one time during 60s and 70s, hockey was the most popular game in Pakistan, with cricket being second and football third. FYi, Imran Khan used to play hockey regularly while he was studying at school level in the 60s. He could have become hockey player, had he not shown much interest in cricket at his college days. Government should patronize hockey should the lost glory is to be retained.

It was golden era of Asian hockey but during this time Europe and Australia planning for future hockey and we ? All Asian countries just playing a regular hockey and specially Pakistan had no plan for youth and future hockey 1981-82 was starting the collapse of Pakistan hockey infrastructure but Like Atif who just want grab the hockey in his control didn’t had any planning for Youth hockey and moor khan joined cricket PCB . Atif destroyed Pakistan hockey it’s true implication upon him .
